Mortal Kombat II Trailer: Karl Urban As Johnny Cage Is Ready To Fight

Warner Bros unveiled the trailer of Mortal Kombat II, directed by Simon McQuoid, featuring Karl Urban as Johnny Cage. The film releases on October 24. Action lovers were in for a treat on Thursday, July 17, when Warner Bros unveiled the much-awaited trailer of Mortal Kombat II. The film, helmed by Simon McQuoid, is the sequel to the director's 2021 hit Mortal Kombat. Actor Karl Urban, who impressed viewers with his performance in the 2019 Prime Video series The Boys, plays the lead in this upcoming action fantasy. He joins the franchise as the fan-favourite character, Johnny Cage — a Hollywood playboy. Mortal Kombat II is scheduled for release on October 24. The trailer hints at a brewing fight aka the famed Mortal Kombat Tournament. If you recall the first movie, Outerworld sorcerer Shang Tsung, played by Chin Han, was on a mission to eradicate the champions of the Earth before the Tournament between warriors belonging to different realms. So it was not a surprise when the trailer opened to Shang Tsung's chilling voice-over saying, 'Earthrealm's victory was just the beginning. Now, we strike back." Johnny Cage's humorous one-liners and swagger soon come to an end as he is recruited by Raiden and Sonya Blade for the Tournament. The trailer is also replete with brutal action sequences, violence and a layered aggression, typical of Mortal Kombat films. One particular scene teases an intense face-off between Johnny Cage and Baraka, adding to the intrigue. It is the story of Johnny Cage, who trains himself diligently and gradually earns a place among the fighters. The trailer ends with the looming battle with a lurking uncertainty, where if Earth fighters fail to win, Shao Kahn, the overlord of the Outerworld, will take over. Mortal Kombat II marks the return of Mehcad Brooks as Jackson Briggs, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero and Ludi Lin as Liu Kang. Adeline Rudolph, best known for movies like Resident Evil and Hellboy: The Crooked Man, is the only new cast member. He will slip into the shoes of Kitana. The Mortal Kombat film franchise is based on the 90s video game series by Ed Boon and John Tobias. As per Boon, Karl Urban's appearance in Mortal Kombat II plays a 'big part" in the universe and what the latest film explores. view comments First Published: July 18, 2025, 18:02 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Jessica Alba Is ‘Excited To Get Back To Filming' With ‘Charming' Orlando Bloom

Published By : Kashvi Raj Singh Trending Desk Last Updated: July 17, 2025, 12:45 IST Jessica Alba began filming the project earlier this month. (Photo Credit: X) Jessica Alba is turning a new page in her life after her divorce from producer Cash Warren. The 44-year-old actress and businesswoman is stepping right back into the spotlight, both professionally and personally, following the finalisation of her divorce from her husband of 17 years. She is reportedly gearing up for her next project as well as returning to the world of dating. The Fantastic Four star is making a comeback on the screen with the thriller, The Mark, featuring Orlando Bloom. The two began filming the project earlier this month in Australia. A source told People that the two stars have met in the past and Jessica finds the Lord of the Rings actor 'charming." FYI, Orlando recently called off his engagement with Katy Perry. They were together for nearly nine years. 'She's in a great place. She's excited to get back to filming. She's doing what she loves and keeping her circle tight," said the source. Despite the buzz, Jessica has decided to keep things light in the romance department for the time being. The same insider told the outlet that the actress has been on a few dates since her split, but is not looking for anything serious at the moment. The source revealed, 'She's been getting a lot of attention since the divorce. She's flattered and definitely enjoying being single again. She's gone on some dates, but it's nothing serious — she's focused on herself and her kids. She's not interested in a relationship right now." The Good Luck Chuck actress filed for divorce from Cash Warren on February 7, citing 'irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind their decision. The two had quietly separated in December 2024. The former couple, who got married on May 19, 2008, share three children together: Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 7. The actress has sought joint custody for their kids and has also requested to restore her legal name to Jessica Maria Alba. Following her divorce, the 44-year-old founder of The Honest Company was spotted with actor Danny Ramirez, known for his role in Top Gun: Maverick. The two were seen in Cancun and later driving back to Los Angeles, sparking speculation about a budding romance. Notably, neither of the two has confirmed or denied anything about their rendezvous. ‘Mortal Kombat 2' trailer: Karl Urban is unleashed as Johnny Cage in blood-soaked sequel

Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for Mortal Kombat 2, offering fans a brutal glimpse at the highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 video game adaptation. The film is set to hit theatres on October 24. Leading the charge in the new footage is The Boys star Karl Urban, who joins the franchise as Johnny Cage — the cocky Hollywood action star turned fierce warrior. The trailer introduces Cage in true over-the-top fashion, as he delivers punishing blows and quips in a style that mirrors the videogame's blend of violence and attitude. Mortal Kombat 2 expands the roster of fan-favorite characters from the iconic fighting game series. Adeline Rudolph steps into the role of Kitana, the fan-wielding princess; Tati Gabrielle plays her ally-turned-enforcer Jade; Damon Herriman appears as the sinister necromancer Quan Chi; Martyn Ford is Shao Kahn, the Outworld emperor; and Ana Thu Nguyen portrays Queen Sindel. CJ Bloomfield and Desmond Chiam round out the Outworld royalty as Baraka and King Jerrod, respectively. Returning cast members include Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Josh Lawson as Kano, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, and Max Huang as Kung Lao. Simon McQuoid, who made his directorial debut with Mortal Kombat, is back at the helm. Judging by the trailer, the sequel aims to double down on what fans loved about the first including intense martial arts action, dark fantasy lore, and, of course, a healthy dose of graphic fatalities.
