When will Khalid Jamil take over as India men's football head coach? Report reveals inside details of AIFF agreement
The sight of Khalid Jamil donning the Indian head coach's jersey will take a bit after the currently Jamshedpur FC manager is yet to reach an agreement with the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Following the departure of Spanish Manolo Marquez, the AIFF invited applications for the men's football's top job. Out of 170 applicants, the governing body of Indian football entrusted Jamil with the responsibility on August 1. However, a report in The Telegraph revealed that Jamil has asked for a three-year contract which the AIFF is not in favour of. For the unknown, Jamil is the first Indian head coach of men's football team after 13 years since Savio Madeira (2012-13). Besides his contractual issues, Jamil's joining date is also depends on Jamshedpur FC's run in the ongoing Durand Cup. The final of Durand Cup 2025 will be played on August 23 and in case Jamshedpur FC qualify for the final, he will not get much time to gel with the national team players ahead of his first international assignment - Cafa Nations Cup - where India play their first game against Tajikistan on August 29. In case Jamil takes charge of the Indian team in mid of August, he will not get all the players at his disposal in the camp with 10 players expected to make the cut from Kolkata heavyweights Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal due to Durand Cup.

Durand Cup: Colaco at the double again as Bagan brush aside BSF
1 2 Kolkata: Liston Colaco produced another game-changing performance as Mohun Bagan SG welcomed their Spanish coach Jose Molina back to the dugout with a 4-0 demolition of BSF in their Durand Cup clash at the Kishore Bharati Stadium on Monday. Colaco — who scored two in his team's 3-1 victory in the opening match against Mohammedan SC — was at it again, netting another brace in 53 and 58 minutes to extend his tally to four goals and helping his team cross the BSF hurdle with consummate ease. Manvir Singh (24) and substitute Sahal Abdul Samad (60) were the other scorers. Both teams have six points each but Kibu Vicuna's DHFC hold a slight advantage thanks to a better goal difference (+8 against Bagan's +6). Six group winners and two second-best teams will make the last-8 stage. BSF — who were thrashed 1-8 by DHFC three days ago — began with a rare opportunity inside the box but their forward Kishori made a mess of it completely, sending the ball out for a goal-kick even though Bagan goalkeeper Vishal Kaith was standing at his mercy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Payroll Platforms Save HR Teams Hours Weekly Learn More Undo Treating it as a wake-up call, Bagan took control of the game soon after. Manvir — returning to the side after missing the game against Mohammedan SC through injury — broke the deadlock, meeting Roshan Singh's cross from the left. The first half ended with Kishori blazing another opportunity over the bar but Bagan looked to be in their element by that time. Molina introduced Sahal and Alberto Rodriguez after the break and Colaco came to the party with two goals. On the first occasion, latching on to a pass from Sahal, he entered the box with menace and jinked past a couple of BSF players to drill it home past goalkeeper Harpreet Singh. Five minutes later, another Sahal pass set Colaco free inside the box and he made no mistake of placing the ball in through the legs of the rival goalkeeper. Sahal put more gloss on the scoreline, pouncing on a poor clearance, and after rounding the goalkeeper he took a shot towards the goal. Although a BSF player seemed to have made a goal-line clearance, the assistant referee raised his flag to signal that ball had crossed the line and the onfield referee Ashwin awarded the goal in Sahal's favour.

Durand Cup 2025: Colaco grabs brace as Mohun Bagan SG thumps BSF FT 4-0
Mohun Bagan Super Giant continued its winning form with a convincing 4-0 win over Border Security Force FT in its second Group-B league outing of Durand Cup 2025 at the Kishore Bharati Stadium here on Monday. Liston Colaco scored a double while Manvir Singh and substitute Sahal Abdul Samad grabbed a goal each to complete Mohun Bagan's tally. The win saw Mohun Bagan, which beat Mohammedan Sporting 3-1 in its first outing, join debutant Diamond Harbour FC (DHFC) on top of the current group standings with six points each. But the latter remained the leader courtesy of a better goal difference. Diamond Harbour now needs a draw in the final group league match against Mohun Bagan (on August 9) to secure the top spot and ensure its passage to the quarterfinals. With coach Jose Molina taking up the reins of the team after the season break, the ISL double crown winner seemed to regain some of the form that gave it success in the country's top league. Mohun Bagan fielded a primarily domestic line-up, except Englishman Tom Aldred and Spaniard Alberto Rodriguez taking their turns in the defence. With the 1-8 drubbing against Diamond Harbour FC still fresh in their minds, BSF players came with a more organised defence to successfully contain the Mohun Bagan attacks in the first quarter of the contest. AS IT HAPPENED: MBSG vs BSF HIGHLIGHTS The Mariners found the break in the 24th minute when Roshan Singh set up Manvir with a measured cross, and the latter made no mistake in nodding his attempt home. Drafted in from the Mohun Bagan youth side, the young Roshan did his duty as the left back with responsibility while standing up for his proficient senior, Subhasish Bose, who is yet to rejoin the side. Mohun Bagan returned with a greater resolve after the break and doubled the lead in the 53rd minute as Liston Colaco discovered his form in the attacking third. The Mohun Bagan winger found his second goal and the team's third in the 58th minute with a fine solo effort. The Mariners went 4-0 up by the 61st minute when second-half substitute Sahal Abdul Samad found the target. Sahal saw his first attempt blocked by the BSF goalkeeper Harpreet Singh, but the Mohun Bagan midfielder recovered quickly to send the rebound into the goal. A BSF defender appeared to have nodded the ball out from the line, but the assistant referee raised his flag, and the referee awarded the goal to Sahal, indicating the ball had crossed the line. Mohun Bagan had a few more opportunities to enhance its tally in the remaining 29 minutes and the added time, but the ISL champion wasted several chances in the final quarter of the action. Earlier, midfielder Rohen Singh produced a spectacular long-range winner as Real Kashmir FC edged past local challenger TRAU FC 2-1 in a Group F league match at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal. Two quick goals, first from Kashmir's Marat Tareck and then the reply from TRAU's Afridi Buyamayum, set up the contest as 20,000 fans turned up to support the local side. But Rohen's 64th-minute pile-driver from outside the box ultimately sealed the deal for Kashmir.
