Time of India2 days ago
Volkswagen, fresh off the launch of the Golf GTI in India, is now preparing to introduce the facelifted version of the Taigun SUV to the Indian market. Originally launched in 2021, the updated Taigun aims to compete directly with popular models like the Hyundai Creta. While the test prototype has been spotted in camouflage, it still offers glimpses into the upcoming design changes.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Expected Powertrain
The updated Taigun is expected to retain the same engine options as the current version. These include a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Design Updates
The facelifted Taigun will reportedly feature a reworked front grille and updated LED headlamps, reflecting Volkswagen's new design language seen on models like the Tiguan R-Line. Spy images also hint at revised rear styling, including redesigned taillamps. While the front and rear will see notable updates, the side profile appears mostly unchanged, featuring body-coloured door handles, roof rails, and a blacked-out B-pillar.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Interior and Features
Inside, the Taigun facelift is expected to borrow design cues from the Tiguan R-Line, including a similar dashboard layout and digital displays. A major anticipated upgrade is the addition of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)—a feature currently missing in the existing Taigun but common in segment rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and MG Astor.
Overall, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift aims to strengthen its market position by offering visual updates and tech enhancements, while maintaining its proven powertrain options.

Mizoram launches urgent repair of key highways

1 2 Aizawl: In a strategic move, the Mizoram govt is seizing the opportunity presented by the suspension of commercial vehicle services from Monday to Saturday to conduct critical repairs on NH-306 and 06. These highways are vital links between Mizoram and the rest of India via Assam. Under the direct supervision of home minister K Sapdanga, who inspected the highways on Saturday, the state Public Works Department (PWD) and the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) are mobilizing manpower and machinery to execute the repairs with urgency starting Monday. Police are tasked with clearing all stranded vehicles, except 14-wheel trucks, by Sunday. From Monday to Wednesday, NH-306 and NH-06 will be closed to traffic, with only 407 trucks and smaller vehicles permitted on the Kawnpui-Serkhan-Durtlang (Aizawl) state highway, typically reserved for light motor vehicles and two-wheelers. Traffic Police from Aizawl and Assam's Kolasib district will oversee vehicle movement during this period. Additionally, Young Mizo Association (YMA) volunteers from local villages will assist the PWD and NHIDCL, with the state govt providing remuneration. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The NHIDCL's Delhi headquarters announced a Rs 50 crore allocation to expedite repairs, complementing the state government's recent Rs 1 crore contribution. MNNIT team develops advanced oil seal to boost two-wheeler performance

Prayagraj: In a significant breakthrough, a team of mechanical engineers at MNNIT Prayagraj has undertaken a pioneering project to design a leakage-resistant oil seal for motorcycle and scooter shock absorbers. Led by assistant professor Tej Pratap, the six-month initiative is backed by the Hero Group with an Rs 8.1 lakh grant, aiming to enhance ride quality and reduce maintenance costs. Unlike conventional efforts to redesign entire shock absorbers, this focused initiative targets the oil seal — a small but critical component that prevents hydraulic oil from leaking out of the shocker assembly. Leakage not only reduces suspension efficiency, but also damages internal shocker components, ultimately forcing vehicle owners to replace the entire unit or incur repeated repair costs. The MNNIT project aims to develop an advanced oil seal using new materials and seal geometries that can effectively eliminate this recurring problem. Pratap explained that the new seal design would enhance internal sealing strength, thereby preventing oil seepage even under high-stress and high-temperature conditions. The development process includes prototype fabrication, rigorous lab testing, and eventually, field testing in collaboration with Hero's R&D wing. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Struggling With Belly Fat? Working alongside Pratap are Abhishek Tiwari and Ashutosh Mishra from the Applied Mechanics Department. To meet project timelines, MNNIT is also appointing a dedicated project assistant with a stipend of Rs 30,000 per month. The team expects to deliver a working prototype within the next few months. This collaboration underscores a larger trend of industry-academia partnerships in solving practical engineering challenges. With this innovation, Hero Group and MNNIT aim to set a new standard for component reliability in India's booming two-wheeler market. Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying: Charles Leclerc takes surprise pole, Oscar Piastri joins him on front row

Charles Leclerc (Image credit: Instagram) New faces have been joining the top 10 for the past few races, and during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, it was Fernando Alonso and his Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll dominating in the top five. At one point in Q2, the two even held the top two positions. Eventually, it was Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc who claimed his first pole of the season. He will be joined by McLaren driver Oscar Piastri on the front row, with Lando Norris behind them in third position on the grid. Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying highlights Ferrari's Charles Leclerc has claimed five podiums so far and may be eyeing his first win of the season, as he will be starting Sunday's race from pole position. However, giving him close competition will be the usual duo — Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, both of whom finished on the podium last year. Speaking after his first pole of the year, Leclerc said, 'The whole qualifying was extremely difficult. It was difficult to get to Q2 and difficult to get to Q3. Then the conditions changed, I knew I had to do a clean lap to target third, and I can't believe it. Honestly, I have no words. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo It is probably one of the best pole positions I have had, as it is so unexpected.' Piastri added, 'The wind changed a lot, it sounds so pathetic blaming the wind but it switched around. It was difficult to judge in those conditions, maybe not the best execution. I was surprised we couldn't go quicker than that. Charles has been quick all weekend, and even this morning he was closer than expected. I wasn't expecting to be second to a Ferrari this weekend, but he's done a good job.' In fourth will be Mercedes driver George Russell. Two new faces in the top 10 are the Aston Martin drivers — Fernando Alonso in fifth and Lance Stroll in sixth. Kick Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto also put up a fantastic drive and finished seventh. In eighth position is Red Bull's Max Verstappen. He will be joined by his former teammate and current Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson. Another Racing Bulls driver, Isack Hadjar, took tenth position in Saturday's qualifying. Antonelli was pushed to P15 after his final lap time was deleted. Yuki Tsunoda, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Nico Hülkenberg, and Alex Albon were eliminated earlier in Q1. Ocon had spotted a screw in his front tyre — a puncture. The Hungarian Grand Prix final will take place on Sunday at the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest at 3 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. IST).
