Major Ridvan Yilmaz transfer update as Man Utd legend ‘approves' swoop for Rangers star

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE future of Ridvan Yilmaz at Rangers has been an uncertain one for some time. Now, talk of a return to Turkey for the left-back is gathering further pace. Injuries have hampered his three-year stint at Ibrox and he's been consistently linked with a move back to his homeland in recent times. That talk only intensified when the defender lost his shirt number to new signing Max Aarons, moving from number 3 to number 33 instead. He was subsequently left out of Russell Martin's squad for the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos last week. All signs are certainly pointing towards Ridvan not having a future at Ibrox. The defender has been heavily linked with a return to former club Besiktas all summer long. Now, that move could have taken a step closer. Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that the club's boss - Man Utd legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - has approved a move for Ridvan. The report says that Solskjaer is "of the opinion that Ridvan would contribute both physically and technically." It also says negotiations are underway. Rangers fans unfurl giant tifo ahead of Russell Martin's first match There have been various different claims regarding the make-up of a deal for Ridvan, ranging from permanent to loan. The latest Fanatik report says Besiktas are hoping to a deal for 2m Euros, which would be around £1.75m. Other Turkish reports claim Rangers are looking for another million on top of that. Should Ridvan head to Besiktas, he could be joined by a former Gers teammate. The same report claims the club have 'accelerated' a move for Vaclav Cerny. The Czech winger, 27, was a huge hit at Ibrox during his loan spell from Wolfsburg last season. Cerny said his goodbyes to the Light Blues at the end of last season and there hasn't been any hint of a return since. He could now be bound for Turkey, with the report saying 'significant progress' has been made regarding a move to Besiktas. It could be a loan deal with an option to buy. 4 Besiktas are managed by Man Utd hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Credit: Getty 4 Vaclav Cerny could be on his way to Besiktas too Credit: Willie Vass Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Rangers keeper to play under Celtic hero after loan move

Mason Munn, 19, joined the Ibrox club from Glentoran in 2022. He has only made one first-team appearance for the team from Govan and kept a clean sheet in a 5-0 win over Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup last season. The Northern Irishman will now join up with Celtic hero Neil Lennon's squad at East End Park for the 2025/26 campaign. He will hope to gain more first-team experience in the Championship. Read more: He is contracted at Rangers until 2028. Meanwhile, Rangers announced earlier this month that Kieran Wright had signed a contract extension. He will remain as the third choice at Ibrox while Russell Martin considers his options for the number-one gloves. Martin was interested in a move for Brighton and Hove Albion shot-stopper Carl Rushworth and has also been linked with Pierce Charles of Sheffield Wednesday. Speaking at a training camp at St George's Park a few weeks ago, the Rangers head coach refused to rule out adding in the goalkeeping department after inheriting Jack Butland and Liam Kelly upon his appointment.
