Part-time Douglas Anderson employee removed after report of ‘inappropriate conduct'
In an email sent to parents on Tuesday, Principal Timothy M. Feagins said in part, 'we were notified recently of a report of inappropriate conduct from a previous school year involving a part-time staff member.'
The employee's name was not released, as the 'matter is still under investigation,' Feagins said.
At least six teachers have been removed from Douglas Anderson in recent years.

All of those cases involve claims and convictions of inappropriate behavior with students. The most recent case was in August.
In June, former teacher Jeffrey Clayton was sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual misconduct with a student.
Also in August, we told you about an investigation into the former principal and vice principal for not properly reporting accusations.

Here is the full text of the email that was sent to families by Feagins on Tuesday:
'Dear Douglas Anderson families,
'I believe we have established a spirt (sic) of trust and transparency in our school community. In that spirit, I wanted to share with you that we were notified recently of a report of inappropriate conduct from a previous school year involving a part-time staff member. Because this is an active investigation, I am limited in what I can share. I can share that this staff member, who was serving in a part-time capacity, has been released from their position at Douglas Anderson. As this matter is still under investigation, we are not naming this individual. I want to assure you that we will continue to take appropriate action following a full investigation. Please know that maintaining the safety of our staff and students and building trust within our school community remain my highest priorities.

Former deputy sentenced to 16 months in prison for 2022 beating of inmate in Camden County Jail
A former Camden County Sheriff's Office deputy sheriff and jail corporal has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for assaulting a pretrial detainee in 2022. Ryan Robert Biegel, now 27, of Kingsland, Georgia, pleaded guilty on Jan. 28 to using unreasonable force against the detainee, according to a news release from the Department of Justice. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Action News Jax first told you in November 2022 about the release of a video showing the September 2022 beating of Jarrett Hobbs from Greensboro, North Carolina, in the Camden County Jail. The DOJ said the incident occurred on September 3, 2022, when Biegel and two other correctional officers entered the holding cell where Hobbs was detained. In May 2023, the three men were indicted by a grand jury in Camden County. The DOJ said Biegel admitted to punching Hobbs five times in the back of the head, acknowledging that it was not reasonable or necessary for a legitimate law enforcement purpose. Biegel further struck Hobbs in the head and body an additional twenty-two times with his fists and knees, the DOJ said. Man shot multiple times while driving in Downtown Jacksonville
A man was shot multiple times on Dennis Street in Downtown Jacksonville on Tuesday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred around 5:25 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his groin, back, and arm, police said. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since been stabilized. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< The victim told investigators he was driving to a local business when he was attacked by an unknown assailant, police said. The attack caused the victim to crash his vehicle, police said. No arrests were made. Lightning strike at St. Augustine Pier injures three, one in critical condition
A lightning strike at the popular St. Augustine Pier Friday afternoon left three people injured, including one in critical condition. The incident was reported just after 3 p.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency crews. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< According to officials, the victims were on the pier when lightning struck. One person suffered critical injuries, another sustained minor injuries, and the third refused to be transported to the hospital. A fisherman, Rafael Cosme, who was on the pier at the time, captured video of the aftermath and shared it only with Action News Jax. 'I was right there when I heard the strike,' Cosme said. Surveillance footage from the nearby Surf Station also recorded the lightning strike. In the video, a flash can be seen hitting the pier, striking three people. Several bystanders are seen running toward the scene. Cosme can also be spotted at the edge of the pier. Another clip shows Cosme walking toward a man lying on the ground. Several people are seen rushing to his aid. 'Everything happened so fast,' Cosme recalled. At this time, it remains unclear what the relationship is between the three people who were injured. 'In St. John's County in 2023, there was a female teenager who was struck by lightning over at Roberts Road, which is off of State Road 13. That's the last one here in St. John's County. Over the last several years from 1959 to 2024, 528 people were struck by lightning in the state of Florida and died. So this isn't something to play with,' said Mayor Rumrell. As of now, the identity of the victims has not been released, and their connection to one another remains unknown.
