Toronto police arrest 2 people after dog allegedly dragged by moving car
Toronto police have arrested two people in connection with a case in which a dog was allegedly dragged by a moving vehicle. Police say they were called to the area of Yonge Street and North York Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday. According to a news release Tuesday, the same leash was connected to the collars of two dogs, at which point the woman allegedly removed one dog from the car before continuing to drive. The dog outside the vehicle was "being dragged as the vehicle continued," police say, while "the second dog in the vehicle was being pulled by the force." Police say bystanders intervened and called for help. A 54-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman were arrested and have been charged with willful cruelty to an animal. Both were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning. Police say the dogs were taken to a veterinarian to receive treatment.

More than 3,700 doses of street drugs seized in Lethbridge

(Supplied) Lethbridge Police have charged two people after seizing more than 3,700 doses of street drugs, including fentanyl molded into a green gummy-bear shape. Lethbridge officers say the bust happened on July 9 on the 900 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South. They say at the time, the man had approximately 84 grams of cocaine, smaller quantities of controlled substances and $7,030 in cash. He was also riding a stolen electric bicycle. Fifty-one light-green fentanyl gummy-bears, mixing bowls, gummy-bear molds and detailed instructions for preparing the mixture were also found after a search warrant of a local home was executed. Officials say law enforcement also seized bulk amounts of other controlled substances and a cell phone actively receiving calls from people seeking to buy drugs. In total, officers took 3,753 street doses of cocaine, 363 doses of ketamine, 2,127 doses of fentanyl and 1,135 doses of methamphetamine. More than 3,700 doses of street drugs seized in Lethbridge Gregory Johnston, a 61-year-old man from Lethbridge, is charged with production of controlled substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, possession of stolen property and three counts of breach of release order. 51-year-old Deborah Bolender, also from Lethbridge, is charged with production of controlled substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Both were remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in court July 17.
