Severance fans all make same furious complaint after Emmy nomination announcement

Daily Mirror4 days ago
The Apple TV+ series has been named this year's most-nominated series at the Emmys, but fans still aren't happy.
Hit Apple TV+ series Severance has bagged the title of this year's most-nominated show at the Emmys, contending for prestigious awards including Outstanding Drama Series.

Apple's network has smashed records with a staggering 81 Emmy Award nominations for 14 of its Apple Original titles, with the head of Worldwide Video praising Severance for "exceeded expectations".

Zack Van Amburg expressed his delight, saying: "Severance and The Studio have exceeded our wildest expectations in earning the most nominations for both drama and comedy series, alongside the phenomenal Shrinking and Slow Horses."

He continued to acknowledge the global impact of their shows, adding: "These shows have connected deeply with audiences around the world and we're incredibly appreciative to the Television Academy for recognizing the breadth of storytelling that has been an honor for us to champion."

Despite the celebration, fans were left disgruntled as a Severance star was noticeably absent from the nomination list, reports the Express.
The series boasts nominations across major categories, including Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor for Adam Scott, Lead Actress for Britt Lower, Outstanding Directing by Ben Stiller and Jessica Lee Gagné, Outstanding Writing by Dan Erickson, and features Outstanding performances by Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Patricia Arquette, Jane Alexander, Gwendoline Christie, and Merritt Wever. It also received acclaim in various craft categories.
However, Dichen Lachman, who portrays wellness counsellor Ms Casey, was notably omitted, leaving fans irate over the perceived "snub".

Fans have flocked to X, the new hub for online chatter since Twitter's decline, to voice their dismay over Emmy nods, with Kard exclaiming: "27 nominations for severance?!? That is INCRED but NONE for Dichen Lachman???" (sic)
MariiaG chimed in, expressing mixed feelings, as she added: "Happy that Severance is getting Emmy noms but Dichen Lachman got absolutely snubbed."

Gissane Sophia echoed the sentiment strongly, saying: "And once more, with feeling, Dichen Lachman deserves SO MUCH MORE." (sic)
@miathermopollis succinctly summed up the mood, insisting: "One last thing Dichen being the only actor not nominated from Severance is soooo..." (sic)
The tweet was punctuated by a GIF depicting a woman furiously trashing her living room.
Len weighed in with disbelief, complaining: "Imagine handing Severance 27 nominations but snubbing the highlight of this season aka Dichen Lachman."
As the Emmys approach, set for September 14 in Los Angeles, the overlooked star has yet to comment on the nomination list.

British actor 'tipped to become next James Bond' after bosses narrow shortlist

A new name has entered the fray in the search for the next James Bond, with actor Callum Turner 'tipped' to take the role. The 35-year-old model-turned-actor – and fiancée of pop icon Dua Lipa – starred in the Apple TV+ drama Masters of the Air as Major 'Bucky' Egan. He also appeared in the Harry Potter spin-off films as Theseus Scamander in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and The Secrets of Dumbledore. Last month, it was confirmed that the Bond franchise had found its next director in Dune helmsman Denis Villeneuve. This led to speculation that his Lisan al Gaib Timothée Chalamet might take on the role – but the iconic spy's shoes remain unfilled for now. With Bond's Amazon bosses reportedly circling just a handful of names, British actor Callum may yet fit the bill. According to a report from Heart Bingo, it's believed that Callum would be Amazon bosses' best pick for the role. Sarah Caskie, Head of Brand for online website told The Daily Mail: 'With the rumour mill surrounding the next continuing to turn following the announcement Amazon will be taking the reins with the franchise, we've turned to public opinion to find the best fit for the 007 role. 'The masses have spoken on X and we've collated the data to find that Callum Turner is the people's choice to replace Daniel Craig, with 63% of posts concerning his potential role in the next film being positive, while 0% were negative.' As of April, Callum's odds for the role were at 20/1. Outside of his acting work, Callum may best be known as Dua Lipa's husband-to-be. The Levitating singer confirmed that she and boyfriend Callum had gotten engaged, months after flashing a chunky engagement ring on social media. 'Yeah, we're engaged,' she told British Vogue. 'It's very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever – it's a really special feeling.' Should Callum take on the license to kill – or even if he misses out – bosses could do far worse than hit up Dua Lipa for the next theme tune. Callum joins a list of names which include current frontrunner Aaron Taylor-Johnson, James Norton and Theo James. Last month, producers were said to be facing a choice between three big names. This list consisted of Babygirl's Harris Dickinson, Saltburn star Jacob Elordi and Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland. However, with the position still vacant, BBC actor Scott Rose-Marsh has also emerged as a potential candidate. The 37-year-old thespian, who appeared in movies Wolves of War and Code of Silence, is currently eighth-favourite for the part, according to Oddschecker. This makes him something of an underdog in the fight, especially when compared to bigger names like Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy. The search for the next Bond follows the news that Dune director Denis will helm the franchise's next instalment. More Trending 'Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007,' he said in a statement released soon after the news broke. 'I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I'm a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he's sacred territory. He described the opportunity 'a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honour.' Got a story? Popular TV feature on Xbox is shut down in blow for 28 million gamers – what it means for your purchases

A POPULAR TV feature on Xbox has been shut down in a blow for 28 million gamers. Microsoft has suddenly shut its movies and TV store on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs. 1 You can no longer purchase new movies and TV shows from the Microsoft store on Xbox or Windows. But you will still be able to access previously purchased content on your devices. Microsoft said: "Downloads will continue to be available on Windows and in HD max resolution." You'll have to continue using the Movies & TV app on Windows or Xbox to play the content you own, rather than accessing it from another service. Microsoft isn't offering a refund for purchases either. Ever since Microsoft shut down its Groove Music service in 2017, this change has been nervously anticipated by Xbox and Windows users. The company had originally launched a movies and TV storefront with Zune Marketplace in 2006. It was then replaced by Xbox Video in 2021 and then morphed into the Movies & TV app and store in 2015. A decade later and its gone. Microsoft is now leaving it up to Amazon, Netflix, Apple TV and other streaming services to cater for movies and TV content on Windows and Xbox. Microsoft finally reveals its brand new handheld console They will continue to provide support for any issues with previously purchased content. Users will be hoping the company keeps its servers online for years to come yet. The Sun also reported last month how millions of Xbox owners have been left with a bad taste in their mouths after the latest console update bombarded them with ads. While the new updates fix some long-standing issues, the Xbox user experience has also been impacted. In the update, Microsoft had finally fixed the heavily complained-about bug where video game box art and thumbnails were stretched or distorted on the home screen, following a previous update in July 2024. What first felt like an exciting change for the retro console, has left some gamers disgruntled. Elsewhere, Microsoft is also set to replace the iconic blue screen of death after 40 years of filling people with dread. In a bittersweet announcement, the tech giant said it is "streamlining the unexpected restart experience". "This change is part of a larger continued effort to reduce disruption in the event of an unexpected restart," David Weston, Microsoft's Vice President of Enterprise and OS Security revealed. A part of that is slashing the downtime during the worrying unexpected restart to about two seconds for most people. The blue screen of death will be replaced by a simpler black screen of death instead.

Charli XCX cheekily reveals rocker husband George Daniel cried as they marry

Charli XCX has revealed a sweet detail of her wedding to George Daniel after they tied the knot this weekend. Social media was sent into a frenzy tonight when a video went viral from the couple's special day, confirming that they were now husband and wife. Charli herself later took to TikTok with a cheeky clip, using her own tune, Girl, so confusing, which features Lorde and recently became part of a trend on the app. The Apple hitmaker, 32, filmed herself in her Vivienne Westwood gown, strutting into the room before jokingly turning around and leaving, adding the text: 'when george isn't crying when he sees me walking down the aisle'. Giving an insight into her spouse's actual reaction, though, she added in her caption: 'luckily he did xx' So, it seems like her 1975 rocker is a big softie underneath! @charlixcx luckily he did xx ♬ original sound – will bottone In the comments, fans were beside themselves with joy after the pop power couple revealed they had wed, with plenty joking about the Chocolate hitmaker, 35, changing his name. 'CoNGRATS MRS AND MR XCX', wrote @sillylilcapricorn. 'Did he take ur last name and become George xcx', said @alex_whelan7. 'this is my royal wedding', declared @_.samc. 'Charli getting married with sunglasses… that's iconic', added @adiazarzarbens. Indeed, the Brit Award-winning pop queen is never without her signature black shades, making sure to add a touch of Brat to her bridal ensemble. Wowing everyone in a low-cut white mini-dress, the musician wore her raven locks down and covered by a lengthy veil, accessorising with her trademark sunnies ahead of the intimate ceremony. Charli—real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison—exchanged vows with George at Hackney Town Hall in London. According to The Mirror, there were only 20 friends and family in attendance, including 1975 drummer George's bandmates Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann. Frontman Matty Healy wasn't said to be there. As for the sticksman's attire, the groom opted for a traditional black suit and a white flower in his jacket to match his wife's bouquet. Their relaxed nuptials come after reports that Charli and George were planning a lavish Sicily wedding later this year. An insider told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: 'Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there. 'It's incredibly secluded and romantic. There will be no expense spared. It's costing tens of thousands of pounds, and visually it will be mesmerising. 'Charli and George said they wanted a massive party, and there are no restrictions on when the bar has to close, so it can go on all night.' The source added: 'They have both had such a busy summer with massive shows, but from mid-August they're able to slow down and focus on their big day. 'It's going to be pretty star-studded too, with plenty of their celeb mates making the journey over to Sicily to watch them say 'I do.' Charli and George are so excited to become man and wife.' However, Charli revealed earlier this year that she was feeling nonchalant about her wedding plans and that she and George were more fussed about letting loose afterwards. 'We're both very chill, and we kind of just want to have a party. 'Neither of us are particularly formal about marriage or care about the formalities of the ceremony or whatever. 'We just want to be together forever and have a party with our friends.' Ahead of the wedding itself, George, who has been part of The 1975 since 2002, reportedly jetted to Ibiza for a wild stag do, accompanied by long-time pal Matty, 36, who is engaged to musician Gabbriette, 27. More Trending 'George has been busy this summer, but his mates were determined to take him on a stag do,' a source said of the Glastonbury headliner's plans. 'He flew to Ibiza for a couple of days for a raucous knees-up with his closest pals—including his bandmates—and party girl Charli was all for it.' Charli and George got engaged in November 2023 after a year of dating. Announcing the news at the time, Charli flashed her dazzling ring in an Instagram post with the caption: 'charli xcx and george f***ing for life!' Got a story?
