Is ‘The White Lotus' Coming Back For Season 4? Here's Everything To Know So Far

The third season of The White Lotus may be checking out tonight, but don't pack your bags just yet. Mike White's twisted vacation anthology isn't closing its doors anytime soon. HBO has officially renewed the hit series for a fourth season, so here's everything we know about the next Lotus location, release timeline, and more.
A fourth season of The White Lotus was officially greenlit by HBO in January 2025, a few weeks ahead of the Season 3 premiere. The series has been a massive hit for the network, earning 15 Emmys across its first two seasons, including Outstanding Limited Series for its inaugural season.
Season 3 has delivered plenty of chaos—violence, armed robbery, corporate fraud, threats, and even fraternal incest—but so far, not much death (aside from the flash-forward in the premiere, where a unknown body is found floating in a pond). The cast has described the upcoming finale with phrases like 'mouth-agape shocking,' 'profound,' and 'emotional and deeply satisfying,' so viewers should buckle up for a wild ride in Episode 8.
As the dramatic finale unfolds, here's everything to know about Season 4, including where the next White Lotus resort could be set.

HBO has not yet announced a release date for Season 4 of The White Lotus. Production is expected to begin sometime in 2026, which—based on the show's previous timelines—means the next season likely won't premiere until late 2026 or even 2027.
Jon Gries in "The White Lotus" Season 3.
The destination for The White Lotus Season 4 hasn't been announced yet, but creator Mike White has previously said it's his dream for the show to 'hit every continent.' So far, the series has explored North America (Hawaii), Europe (Sicily), and Asia (Thailand), leaving South America, Australia, Africa, and even Antarctica still on the map.
White made that comment while speaking at a festival in Sydney, according to Vulture, where he also alluded to the 'wealth of talent' in Australia, saying, 'The beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes.' So, there's definitely a chance the next season could take place in the land Down Under.
But perhaps the most definitive clue came from HBO executive Francesca Orsi, who told Deadline at the show's Season 3 premiere on Feb. 10 that location scouting would begin in the coming weeks. 'I can't really say where we're going to land,' Orsi said at the time, 'but chances are somewhere in Europe.'
One European destination that likely won't get The White Lotus treatment is Paris. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, creator Mike White explained that the show's next location could be hugely impactful [to that locale].
'It's hard to go backward. Like, 'Oh, we'll do it in Paris!' That feels like a cop-out,' he told the site. He continued, 'At the same time, I'm not a cultural ambassador. I'm a random writer. I need to focus on what I'm excited about creatively and not get too far ahead of myself.'
It also looks like Antarctica may be off the table—at least for now. White Lotus producer David Bernad said during the February 26 episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast that viewers should expect the next location to be in a country with a warm climate.
'Mike does not like the cold … he's a California guy, he's not built for the cold,' Bernad said. 'Never say never, but I would be surprised.'
Natasha Rothwell and Nicholas Duvernay in "The White Lotus" Season 3.
While it's tempting to speculate which cast members might return for the next installment, it's impossible to say for sure ahead of the Season 3 finale. That said, The White Lotus is no stranger to bringing back familiar faces. Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya appeared in Seasons 1 and 2, Natasha Rothwell's Belinda returned for Seasons 1 and 3, and Jon Gries's Greg (aka Gary) has appeared in all three seasons to date.
As for Season 3, it's still unclear which characters will make it out alive. We know at least one person is dead, after Belinda's son discovered a body in the pond following a flurry of gunshots at the resort. Truth be told, here's to hoping Parker Posey's character survives—if only so we can hear her deliver more iconic lines like 'Piper, no!', 'Lorazepam,' and 'Buuudhism.'
There's also the possibility that your surviving favorites from all three seasons could return from previous installments. Patrick Schwarzenegger, who portrays Saxon, told THR in April that he's heard rumors of an 'all-stars season' that would bring a bunch of former White Lotus guests together. White weighed in on the rumour and told THR that he would 'love to do that."
Parker Posey in "The White Lotus" Season 3.
The music for The White Lotus Season 4 could sound very different from the previous three seasons. The show's composer, Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, recently confirmed to The New York Times that he will not return for Season 4 due to creative differences with White.
When he addressed the change to the soundtrack in Season 3, he said, "When [the season three theme] came out, I had TMZ calling me, even people from England and from France, because they wanted some kind of statement about the theme. People are furious about the change of the theme, and I thought that was interesting."
De Veer revealed that he had created a longer version of the song, one that was closer in style to the previous scores, which could have been used in the opening credits.
"I texted the producer and I told him that it would be great to, at some point, give them the longer version with the ooh-loo-loo-loos, because people will explode if they realise that it was going there anyway. He thought it was a good idea. But then [White] cut that – he wasn't happy about that."
De Veer also alleged that his conversations with producers could become "hysterical" and that he was repeatedly asked for music that was more experimental than he wanted to create. He even likened his situation to being in a rock band, saying he's "the guitar player" who "doesn't understand the singer at all."
"Maybe I was being unprofessional, and for sure Mike feels that I was always unprofessional to him because I didn't give him what he wanted. But what I gave him did this, you know — did those Emmys, people going crazy," he added.
Stay tuned for more updates on The White Lotus Season 4.
The Season 3 finale premieres Sunday, April 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO. Watch the official teaser for Episode 8 below.

Billy Joel Says Wife Alexis Was 'Unimpressed with the Whole Billy Joel Thing' When They First Met — Which 'Impressed' Him

The legendary musician talks about meeting his wife for the first time in the new HBO documentary 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes' Billy Joel brought out all the stops for his wife Alexis the first time they met — but she wasn't exactly impressed by a private concert. Joel, 76, reflects on the first time he met Alexis, 43, in the new HBO documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes, and recalls that her nonchalance toward his skills drew him to her. 'When you meet someone who captures your imagination, it renews, it revitalizes,' he says in the film. 'I remember the first time I met Alexis, we went to my house, and I wanted to play the piano for her. It's a form of communication for me.' The 'Just the Way You Are' singer says he drew on a famous scene from the Marilyn Monroe film The Seven-Year Itch, in which the character trying to woo Monroe's character plays a song by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. 'I'm playing that and she's completely unimpressed with it, totally. She couldn't care less what I'm playing and I'm thinking, 'Oh OK, this isn't working,'' Joel says. 'She was very unimpressed with the whole Billy Joel thing, which impressed me. Because I thought, 'OK, maybe she's just here because she likes me, not the Billy Joel guy.'' Joel says he was initially uncertain as to whether he wanted to start a new relationship, as he was fresh off a divorce from his third wife, Katie Lee, and was wary. Still, the star explains that 'something popped,' and he knew he was open to love once more. Alexis — whom he went on to marry in 2015 and welcome daughters Della, 9, and Remy, 7 — also appears in the documentary, and says that the couple got to know each other better after that first meeting through phone calls and emails. She also praises his skills in the kitchen, saying Joel would often cook dinner for her to come home to while she was working in finance. 'We had a couple years together before we had kids and he had completely stopped doing shows,' she says. 'We traveled everywhere. We did a motorcycle trip from Maine down to Long Island, we were on boats 24/7. We were in Europe. We had so much fun.' Alexis has been a pillar of strength for the star in recent months as he deals with a treatable brain condition called normal pressure hydrocephalus (The rocker tells PEOPLE in this week's issue that he's 'OK' and not 'deathly ill'). Dennis Arfa, the star's longtime booking agent, tells PEOPLE he's 'so happy' to see Joel 'raising his children and being so in love with them and Alexis and his family.' 'It's quite rewarding,' Arfa says. 'I'm always rooting for Billy's happiness and his success. I've seen Billy have a lot of happy times through his life, [but] he's had to deal with certain adversity. I'm happy for him in this chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter with him.' Joel himself adds that he's 'really enjoying this time in my life.' Billy Joel: And So It Goes (now streaming on HBO Max) is a rare, revelatory glimpse into the private world of one of rock music's most enduring acts, and how he overcame substance abuse, mental health struggles, and more to find peace. The beauty of Bill Joel? Unlike with so many stars, there's no myth-building

Normally, if you see someone's four wives all speaking about them on TV, it's a safe bet you're watching a 'Dateline' murder mystery. So it's astonishing to witness all three of Billy Joel's exes appear as well as his current wife in the documentary 'And So It Goes,' the second episode of which premieres Friday at 8 p.m. on HBO. Heck, even his former bandmate Jon Small is a frequent voice in the film. Small was married to Elizabeth Weber when the Piano Man and Weber fell in love. Advertisement The fallout from that triangle led Joel to attempt suicide, and he says he felt like a 'homewrecker.' But Small 'finally got over it' — and even went on to direct the music video for 'Uptown Girl.' 8 Last summer, Billy Joel ended his long running residency at Madison Square Garden. Getty Images I cannot account for his personal interactions and how he's still on good terms with all these people, but it says a lot about the man. Forgiveness is complicated. Advertisement And so is self-examination. But Joel, who has an inherent likability, seems to be well-practiced in the art. Not that he didn't give the women in his life agita. Much of his marital strife was fueled by alcohol abuse, and much of that was well documented in the press over the years. 'Some of the stupid stuff I did, that's painful to talk about,' the 76-year-old recently told People magazine, adding that directors Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin 'asked me for some thematic guidance. I said, 'Just tell the truth.'' 8 HBO's two-part documentary 'And So It Goes' explores the life and music of Billy Joel. Advertisement What's interesting is not just his story but the way he tells it, and the way he let the filmmakers have free rein. Lacy said they were given 'complete and utter independence' by the singer-songwriter. Unlike with so many stars, there's no myth-building at play. There's no artifice. As told in the documentary, his remarkable life can be summed up by the opening anecdote. Joel, who grew up in Hicksville, Long Island, recalls working on an oyster boat as a young man. He'd look up a sprawling mansion and sneer at the 'rich bastards' who lived there. 8 In the 1980s, Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley were the biggest celebrity power couple — and she was his muse. Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Advertisement 'Well, I own that house now,' he said. It doesn't come off as an arrogant mic drop, but rather a 'pinch me' moment. And while he famously has a song called 'Angry Young Man,' it's the fact that he remained a man of the people that's been the key to his success. He is not, as Bruce Springsteen notes in the film, 'an angry activist man. He never directly goes there. Which is part of why the material hasn't dated.' 8 Billy Joel started taking piano lessons as a young boy in Hicksville, Long Island. Photograph by Billy Joel Archives/HBO 'Say Goodbye to Hollywood' was written when Joel and Weber were living in California — and he realized that the Empire State was a better personality fit. Relieved to be back, he literally wrote 'New York State of Mind' while on a Greyhound bus heading to Highland Falls, where Weber had found them a home. With 'Goodnight Saigon,' he wove a beautiful narrative through the tales of his friends who had returned from Vietnam. Advertisement 8 Billy Joel's first wife, Elizabeth Weber, was also his manager. She is interviewed in 'And So It Goes.' AFP via Getty Images 'Lullaby' was written for his daughter Alex Ray Joel as he was splitting with second wife Christie Brinkley. 'Piano Man' is rightfully praised in the documentary by rapper Nas as a 'mirror facing the mirror.' There's themes of love, loss and searching for his absentee father. Joel found him living in 'Vienna.' Advertisement But he has never truly told people how to think — a rarity these days. 8 Billy Joel performing in the 1970s. Photograph by Art Maillet/Sony Music Archives/HBO As critic Steven Hyden remarks in the film. 'He writes about people. Not causes or concepts.' Joel has said he knows people don't want to hear him on his soap box. Advertisement Appearing on 'Club Random,' he recently told Bill Maher he has no time for woke scolds. 8 In 2015, Joel married his fourth wife, Alexis Roderick, and the pair share two daughters, Della and Remy. Wireimage 'On the other hand, I'm always trying to find out the other point of view. What's, you know, not my point of view — somebody else's point of view,' Joel told Maher. 'OK, I'd like to understand why they think that way.' It's obvious why people connect with the guy. He's one of us, only with six Grammies and a spot in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Advertisement The father-of-three was recently diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a brain disorder that causes, among other things, issues with cognition and balance. This week, he told Maher that he 'feels good' save for his balance: 'It's like being on a boat.' 8 On a recent episode of 'Club Random' Billy Joel told Bill Maher that he 'feels good' despite his diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus. Jamie Lee Curtis confirms she'll star in 'Murder, She Wrote' movie: 'Oh, it's happening'

She also teased that she's "very excited" to dive into the role first brought to life on TV by Angela Lansbury. The mystery of who will star in the lead role of a Murder, She Wrote film adaptation has been solved. When asked point-blank what the chances are that fans could see her pick up the mantel of Jessica Fletcher, the mystery writer and amateur detective first brought to life by the late Angela Lansbury in the long-running CBS series of the same name, Jamie Lee Curtis didn't hold back. "Oh, it's… happening," Curtis playfully confirmed to Entertainment Tonight at the world premiere of Freakier Friday. "We're a minute away, but yeah, [I'm] very excited. Very excited. But I'm tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting. I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I'll get to enjoy that work." Deadline first reported in December that the Oscar winner was in talks to star in a Murder, She Wrote film at Universal written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, with producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Previously, in October 2013, it was reported that NBC was planning a reboot of the series, but by January 2014 it was revealed that it was not moving forward. The original Murder, She Wrote, which ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996, focused on Lansbury's Jessica Fletcher, who became embroiled in various murder cases that took place in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine, as well as other locales around the globe. Created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson and William Link, the crime drama also starred Tom Bosley, William Windom and Ron Masak. Considered one of the most successful and long-running series in history, Murder, She Wrote was a hit with the industry and public alike. At the height of its popularity, it averaged 30 million viewers per week, according to the L.A. Times. Though she never won, the role earned Lansbury a whopping 12 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The update from Curtis is a positive one for the reboot. As she alluded to, though, Curtis has much on her plate at the moment before she can pick up a magnifying glass. First up for the star is reprising her role of Tess Coleman in Freakier Friday, the sequel to the beloved 2003 film starring Lindsay December, she'll be seen in James L. Brooks' dramedy film Ella McCay alongside Emma Mackey, Woody Harrelson, Kumail Nanjiani, Spike Fearn, Ayo Edebiri, Jack Lowden, Rebecca Hall, Julie Kavner, Becky Ann Baker, Joey Brooks, and Albert Brooks. In addition to Murder, She Wrote, Curtis currently has another three projects in various stages of development. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
