Christie Hayes announces pregnancy after four-year IVF journey
Ms Hayes, who is the co-host of The Hit Network's Dan & Christie, broke the big news during an emotional segment to listeners across regional Victoria and Tasmania.
It comes as the former actress kept her battle with fertility challenges in the spotlight, including a heartbreaking 'non-viable' pregnancy with husband Justin Coombes-Pearce last year.
'It's been four years in the making … I am pregnant,' she said on air with co-host Dan Taylor on Monday morning.
'We are ecstatic, we are safe, and we're in the second trimester already.
'I just want you to know that if you are going through IVF – I have been where you are,' Ms Hayes added.
'I know how hard it is. I just want you to know that it can happen.
'When you least expect it, your life can change.'
Ms Hayes thanked her listeners for being alongside her through her journey and on the egg transfer day.
'I truly from the bottom of my heart believe that when I walked in that day I was surrounded by love and optimism and encouragement, and hope,' she said.
The mum-of-two surprised Mr Taylor off-air three weeks ago with a lunch box full of positive pregnancy tests.
In September 2024, she opened up about the devastating moment she was told her pregnancy at the time was not viable.
Ms Hayes said instead of waiting for confirmation from a doctor, she 'did what you're not supposed to do' during IVF and took things into her own hands.
After testing positive to two tests at home, she went to get a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. Instead, she left with heartbreak.
'She looked at me, this beautiful nurse, and she said, 'It's positive but it's not viable,'' she recalled.
'Our hearts just broke. It's grief all over again. That's the worst thing with IVF, is the waiting and waiting, and then the grief, no one tells you about.
'You put so much time and energy into something, you try so hard, and then it's ripped away from you,' Ms Hayes added.
She decided she was going to share her story on-air to let others going down the same path know they're not alone.
'Where there is hope, there is life,' she said.
'So, thank you.'

'The truth is that Lindsay had to be old enough to have a 15-year-old daughter, [but] people would ask me about the movie over and over again,' she shared. 'And finally someone in Australia said, 'Well, she is' and I was like, 'What do you mean?' because I know her as this young girl, so I don't know how old she is.' 'Someone told me [Lindsay's age] and I was, like, 'Oh! Well, maybe we can make the movie. Let's go!'' In the new film, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. Abbey Holmes responds to return to work criticism
A popular sports presenter has hit back at online trolls who criticised her for returning to work less than two months after welcoming her son into the world. Abbey Holmes, who works as a sports commentator for Channel 7, welcomed her son Braxton John Brooksby, on June 6 with husband Keegan Brooksby. Holmes, who didn't realise she was pregnant for the entire first trimester, had a relatively textbook pregnancy. She revealed she laboured all day before doctors deemed a Caesarian was needed to proceed due to the fact Braxton's head was 'far too large'. The 34-year-old then announced she would be back to commentate in Round 20 of the AFL for the clash between Essendon and Western Bulldogs on July 25. But, the announcement caused divide, with some calling it 'far too soon' for the new mum to be returning to work. Now, Holmes has hit back at the people who criticised her for returning to her role for just two days a week — despite the fact there is no 'one size fits all' guideline for new mums. She said if her baby boy hadn't been doing well, she would never have made the decision to return. 'I think that if he didn't take a bottle or was really unsettled and only slept on me, or whatever it might have been, then I certainly would have been hamstrung and certainly not come back seven weeks after having him,' she told 7News. Holmes added that for her, she genuinely loved what she did and it didn't feel like work. 'There's certainly a small minority of people out there that feel that they have the right to tell you what you should be doing and how things are to be done, which is never the case,' the new mother said. She said one of the things that annoyed her the most was the commentary around her husband, a former Hawthorn and Gold Coast player. '(Someone said) 'oh Dad's on babysitting duty'. I'm sorry, but dads don't babysit their own children, they're 50 per cent of the parenting duo,' she responded. Upon taking to the microphone on July 25 she shared a video with fellow commentators Dale Thomas and Matthew Richardson. 'OK guys, we're baaaaack,' she captioned the clip. Fans were mostly stoked to see her return, calling Holmes the 'best part' of Friday night footy. 'You are incredible! Welcome back,' one social media user said. Another added: 'Get it girl.' 'So good to see your smiley face back,' another user commented. Another said: 'HOORAY. Welcome back, your bubba is in good hands and you are doing a great job of firstly being a mumma/wife and now doing your love of being you.' Sad announcement leaves The Block contestants sobbing
The contestants on The Block were reduced to tears during Monday's episode, as foreman Dan opened up about the tragic recent loss of his newborn daughter. Dan and his wife Dani Reilly, both former Block contestants, welcomed a baby girl named Billie into the world on December 8 last year. Tragically, she died just 10 days later after complications during birth. The couple announced the tragic news at the time – and just a couple of months later, Dan was back at work filming this season of The Block. He and Dani addressed the contestants and those on site to open up about their loss at the start of Monday's episode. He said they felt 'grateful' for their 10 days with Billie, time spent in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. 'Premmie [premature] babies spend time in NICU, to give them the care they need and the best start in life,' he explained. 'It didn't end as it should have for us,' said Dani, 'but our time there was really special with Billie. The doctors at the NICU, we'll remember forever.' Dan explained that the couple wanted to use their personal tragedy, and the legacy of Billie's short time on earth, to raise awareness and funds for the organisations that had helped them in their time of need. 'We wish we didn't need them, but we did, and they saved us at that time,' said Dani. 'Billie's legacy, now our mission, is to raise awareness and funds for The Women's NICU, Red Nose Australia, and Heartfelt, ensuring other families receive the care, support, and memories that meant and continue to mean so much to us,' said Dan. From contestants to tradies to host Scott Cam, all on site appeared visibly moved by the couple's bravery in speaking about their loss so publicly. 'We don't understand what that would be like,' said Gold Coast contestant Sonny, fighting back tears. 'But we also had one of my best mates go through the same thing.' 'They're such beautiful people,' said WA contestant Taz. 'It's such a terrible thing to have happened to them.' Dan and Dani's Billie's Besties campaign, launched after their daughter's passing to support the Women's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), has so far raised almost $100,000.
