LL Cool J, Jazmine Sullivan Cancel Philadelphia Festival Gig in Solidarity With Striking City Workers

LL Cool and Jazmine Sullivan canceled their appearances at a Fourth of July festival in Philadelphia in solidarity with the city workers who are on strike in Philly.
Both the rapper and the Philadelphia-born R&B singer were scheduled to perform at the Wawa Welcome America Festival on Friday, but hours before the performance, LL Cool J announced in a video statement on social media that he would forego the gig in support of the 10,000 city employees — ranging from 911 dispatchers to trash collectors to water department workers, the Associated Press reports — who walked off the job Tuesday in an effort to secure better pay and benefits.

'I understand there's a lot going on in Philadelphia right now, and I never, ever, ever wanna disappoint my fans, especially in Philadelphia…but there's absolutely no way that I can perform, cross a picket line and pick up money when I know that people are out there fighting for a living wage. I'm not doing that,' LL Cool J said.
'I've been coming to Philly my whole life. I have respect for the city. And I hope, I hope, I hope that, you know, the mayor and the city can make a deal. I hope it works out.'
Sullivan wrote on her Instagram Stories, 'In this life we are only measured by how we uphold our morals and standards, by what we choose to fight for through participation or protest. Today I choose not to perform at the Wawa Welcome America concert and stand with Philly's DC33 until the city and union find a way to bring fair living wages to our working class. I love my city and I believe in you. Hopefully we will get to celebrate when things are better.'
LL Cool J added that he would still travel to Philadelphia with the hope that an agreement between the workers and the city could be reached, but no deal materialized by Friday. 'I'm not gonna cross a picket line and perform for money when people are hurting,' he reiterated.

Jason Kelce swarmed by hate comments after 4th of July Instagram post

On Friday, July 4, former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce celebrated the holiday like many Americans by enjoying some fireworks. He later shared a video of the fireworks show he had seen on social media. But it was the caption that Kelce shared with the post that ruffled the feathers of some Instagram users, leading to a surge of angry comments. Advertisement 'Man I love the 4th! One of the great days we all can set aside our differences in this country, and enjoy the one thing we all share in common. That we are American! Cheers to you oh beautiful America,' Kelce captioned the post. While Kelce likely hadn't intended to be controversial with his post, many people found it tone-deaf given the timing, likely alluding to President Trump's controversial 'Big Beautiful Bill' which was signed just hours before Kelce's post. 'I love you, bro, but your privilege is showing. You are able to set things aside, but not everyone has that privilege,' commented one person. Advertisement 'Unfortunately Jason this is not real life for many. They signed the worst bill for so many Americans today just to rub it in our faces. I know it's hard to understand, but so many will suffer,' another wrote. However, not all comments were negative. Many also came to Kelce's defense, claiming there was nothing wrong with his post or his celebration of his country. 'Thank you Jason! You are correct, we are all Americans and today is the day to celebrate that, nothing else!!' wrote one fan. Read More! Jessica Simpson Wears Tiny Red Bikini as She Snaps New Mirror Selfie While Celebrating Fourth of July

Jessica Simpson shared a mirror selfie on Instagram of herself wearing a tiny red bikini as she celebrated the Fourth of July holiday She accessorized her stylish swimwear look with oversized white sunglasses Simpson's latest selfie comes after she debuted a dirty blonde hair transformation during the season 23 finale of American Idol in MayJessica Simpson put a patriotic spin on her latest swimwear look. As she celebrated the Fourth of July holiday on Friday, the pop star, 44, shared a new mirror selfie on her Instagram Stories, showing off her festive outfit. She sported a tiny red bikini, topped with an olive green, military-inspired short-sleeve shirt, worn unbuttoned. Her accessories included a large pair of white sunglasses and a printed bandana headband. A navy blue baseball cap decorated with the letters "USA" and an American flag emblem could be seen sitting on the bathroom counter. Simpson's selfie was fittingly soundtracked by the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic "American Girl." The fashion mogul has been having a little fun with her personal style lately. On May 31, she tried out a goth glam look for a night out to the We Matter x Limitless Mental Health Dinner in Los Angeles. Her ensemble featured a black satin mini slip dress with lingerie-inspired lace trim around the bust. She amped up her look by wearing a black feathered cropped jacket over the dress, along with black sheer stockings and black pointy-toe platform boots. A ring adorned with two large turquoise stones added a pop of bright color to her all-black fashion moment. Simpson also recently shook things up by making a change to her signature blonde hair. While making a special appearance during the season 23 finale of American Idol on May 18, the mom of three debuted freshly dyed dirty blonde hair with sun-kissed highlights. Her longtime hair guru and friend, celebrity colorist Rita Hazan, described Simpson's new shade to PEOPLE as "desert sunset blonde." According to Hazan, Simpson "loved" her new hair color. "She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up," Hazan said. "She always had a super buttery blonde — this time we wanted something new and youthful." "I think it's a fresh and young vibe, but with confidence and a slight attitude to represent her mood," the stylist added. Prior to her American Idol appearance, Simpson told PEOPLE that her "style evolves as I do on a personal level, through each stage of my life." She also said she draws fashion inspiration from nearly anywhere — and is a Pinterest devotee. "Anything from a vintage printed wallpaper in a movie I am watching or a performance piece displayed in an old documentary," Simpson explained. "Everyone who knows me knows I am observant. I never miss a detail. Inspiration comes at me in visceral ways, every single day. And I honestly don't know what I would do without Pinterest." Read the original article on People
