Cut Copy Announce New Album ‘Moments', Share ‘When This Is Over'
Cut Copy have announced a new album, entitled Moments. It marks their seventh overall and first in five years, following their 2020 album Freeze, Melt. The new album is set for release on Friday, September 5th via Cutters Records and The Orchards. To coincide with the album's announcement, the Melbourne-born and UK-based electronica act have shared its second single, 'When This Is Over'. The follow-up to April's 'Solid', which will also appear on Moments, has been described by frontman Dan Whitford as 'one of those songs that instantly felt special' in a press statement. 'The song is about a relationship that has started to unravel,' he said. 'But also, a bit more globally, [it's a song] about trying to find empathy when parties are facing in seemingly opposite directions. Over the course of the song, the mood progresses from conflict to a sort of truce-like resolution.' Whitford also notes that this is the first Cut Copy song to feature a children's choir – something that he and his bandmates had 'talked for years about', but had never realised prior to the recording of this song. 'After writing the first half of the song in my studio on synths and a drum machine, I drove from Melbourne into the country to a primary school where a friend was a music teacher,' he said. '[I] spent a day recording a choir idea that became the basis of the second half of the song. Suddenly with the addition of the children's voices, the song had gone from a sketch into something magical.' To celebrate the release of Moments, the band will play their first home-country shows in over two-and-a-half years this September. They will play a hometown headlining show in Melbourne, as well as dates for both Sydney's Night At The Barracks concert series as well as its freshly-minted sister series Night At The Parkland in Brisbane. Mansionair Announce New Album ‘Some Kind Of Alchemy', Share ‘Atlas'
Mansionair have revealed their third studio album, Some Kind Of Alchemy. The follow-up to 2022's Happiness, Guaranteed. is set for release on Friday, October 10th via Sony Music Australia. To coincide with the album's announcement, the Sydney-based electronica trio have lifted a second single from it entitled 'Atlas'. The new seven-minute track, which follows on from last month's 'Lose Yourself Again', also serves as Some Kind Of Alchemy's closing number. In a joint press statement, the band noted that their latest single lyrically focused on 'reconnecting to oneself'. ''Atlas' is a song about… find[ing] a sense of place and belonging,' they wrote. 'It's about acknowledging our closest relationships are the ones that help us see ourselves in times of being lost. It's a journey of searching for yourself in new places, only to return home to find that what you were looking for was right beside you all along. It's a seven-minute journey song. [It's] everything we love about our band dialed [up] to 11, and we think it's arguably our best song to date.' Some Kind Of Alchemy was entirely written and produced by Mansionair themselves – the first of their albums to be created in such a way. 'The whole album is based on how we are in relationship to other people [and] other places,' they continued in the press statement. 'We very rarely exist in isolation. It was our search for the balance between holding on and letting go. We made this record with a desire to distill and perfect the very essence of what Mansionair meant to us. [It] was a beautiful challenge that somehow managed to flow between us, and we couldn't be prouder of it.' Next month will see the band head to North America on the Lose Yourself Again tour, which will see them play across the US and Canada from mid-July to early August. Playlunch Enlist AFL Legend Barry Hall For Hilarious ‘Keith' Music Video
Playlunch have continued the rollout for their as-yet-untitled second studio album with their second single of 2025, entitled 'Keith'. The follow-up to February's 'Boys' has been a staple of the band's live show in the lead-up to its release, with clips of the band performing it gaining traction on TikTok. Now, the band have officially unveiled the self-described 'bogan funk' song – complete with a humourous music video that literally re-enacts the story told in the song. The titular 'Keith' is played in the video by Barry Hall, a retired AFL player who was the captain of the Sydney Swans between 2005 and 2008 and who earned the nickname 'Big Bad Barry' due to his confrontational manner on the field. In a press statement, the band explains that 'Keith' was written about a 'psycho tradie neighbour'. 'Inseparable from his Ute and beloved two-wheeler trailer, Keith would terrorise the streets verbally assaulting anyone who dared leave their car in the on-street parking out front of his house,' said frontman Liam Bell. 'No matter who you are or where you come from, everyone knows a Keith.' The music video for 'Keith' can be viewed below. To further promote the release of 'Keith', the band have set up a hotline for fans to call in and tell stories of their own personal 'Keiths' from their lives.
