DBKL reinstates partial Sunday road closure for Jalan TAR

KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) will reinstate the partial closure of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR), from the Jalan Bunus 6 junction to the Jalan Melayu junction, every Sunday starting this week.
In a statement, DBKL said the road closure aims to facilitate the Santai Seni@TAR Programme and aligns with the goal of making Kuala Lumpur a low-carbon city.
It said the closure would be from 6am to 12am for all types of vehicles.
"DBKL will also activate a two-way traffic flow on Lorong TAR, from the Dang Wangi junction to the Lorong TAR 7 junction, every Sunday from 9am to 12am, after the Kuala Lumpur Car Free Morning event," it said.
Following this, DBKL advised users to drive carefully, slow down, and obey instructions from officers on duty.
"Any inconvenience is regretted," it said.

EV chargers limiting TTDI parking spaces

EV charging stations should not take away public parking spaces. KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has allowed a company to instal electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the worst possible locations in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Kuala Lumpur. This means that public parking bays are being privatised. The identified locations include Lorong Rahim Kajai 13 and Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad. These commercial areas are already acutely short of public parking spaces. This poor decision to instal EV charging facilities will further deprive the public of space to park their cars. We are not against EV charging stations but we are against their location. In our opinion, EV charging stations should not take away public parking spaces. Those who want to venture into the business should do it through joint ventures with private carpark operators. Khairudin Rahim Chairman, Medan Athinahapan Security Scheme TTDI

Only 0.69 per cent of Segambut parking used for EV chargers

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has clarified that only 0.69 per cent of Segambut's 9,113 on-street parking bays have been designated for electric vehicle (EV) chargers, amid concerns over reduced parking and blocked walkways. In a statement to New Straits Times, DBKL said the small proportion aligns with the government's goal to install 10,000 EV chargers by end-2025, including 900 in the capital. It said all installations must follow DBKL's planning manual, PLANMalaysia's EV charger planning guideline (GPP-EVCB), fire safety guidelines, and Energy Commission standards. "Each location is assessed for safety, planning suitability and pedestrian accessibility to ensure walkways remain unobstructed," it said. Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh had earlier urged DBKL to explain placement policies following complaints from Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Desa Sri Hartamas residents. "DBKL remains committed to ensuring every initiative is implemented in an orderly manner, adhering to safety and urban planning standards, while prioritising the well-being and comfort of city residents," the statement added.
