Bharat Bandh July 9: What about schools, colleges, offices?

Farmer groups and rural labour organisations have also extended their support. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha and agricultural workers' unions plan to mobilise villagers and protest against economic decisions that they claim are worsening rural distress.

Workers join stir in Haryana, Delhi
DELHI/GURUGRAM Government employees, industrial and scheme workers, construction labourers, and farmers gathered under their respective banners and flags across Haryana on Wednesday, holding public meetings and protest marches in response to a 'Bharat Bandh' call by central trade unions in support of their 17-point charter of demands. A key highlight of the protests was the overwhelming participation of women scheme workers – mid-day meal workers, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), and anganwadi workers – who reiterated their long-standing demands for regular jobs for regular work and equal pay for equal work. Sporadic clashes disrupt normalcy in Bengal during strike
1 2 Kolkata: Sporadic clashes between protesters and police disrupted normalcy in parts of Bengal on Wednesday as 10 central trade unions and their allies observed Bharat Bandh . Police arrested 383 bandh supporters across Bengal, including 41 from Kolkata. A clash took place between bandh supporters and police at Ganguly Bagan in Kolkata in the morning, when CPM and SFI members set a tyre on fire. The fire spread to a police guardrail, causing panic among commuters, including schoolchildren. Nineteen protesters, including SFI general secretary Srijan Bhattacharya, were arrested on the spot. At Jadavpur railway station, protesters tried to stall train movement on platform 1. There was also a scuffle between police and protesters at College Street. "The situation was under control and necessary precautions were taken to prevent any escalation," said a top officer at Lalbazar. UG admissions via CUET scores to begin next week, counselling likely to be online
Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is set to commence admission process for its undergraduate courses based on CUET-UG scores starting next week. The university received the candidate data from National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday and began preparations for merit list formulation. CUET admissions chairman at DAVV Dr Rajesh Sharma said,"We will soon open registrations for undergraduate counselling through CUET-UG. Students can register via the university website." While the mode of counselling is yet to be finalised, online counselling is currently the most probable format. "Offline counselling was under consideration, but there is a higher possibility of it being conducted online," Sharma added. The counselling process is likely to begin by July-end. The CUET-UG 2025 exams were conducted from May 13 to June 5 across multiple computer-based test centres nationwide, including Indore. The results were announced by NTA on July 4. Based on the student data provided by the NTA, the university will prepare its merit list and hold meetings to finalise the counselling schedule.
