There's no way the Pittsburgh Penguins will trade Sidney Crosby ... right? RIGHT???? How could they even though the team is heading toward a rebuild?
He's an icon, an all-time great and has brought so much to the franchise that drafted him. But all-time greats have been traded or let go in free agency, so it wouldn't be unprecedented.
Which brings us to some trade rumors that popped up during the 2025 NHL Draft. Crosby's ex-teammate Georges Laraque tweeted that there was "a good chance Crosby play somewhere else," followed by Kevin Weekes tweeting a photo of Denver.
Hmm. But Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon shut that down real quick on Instagram with just two words:

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has been rehabilitating in a weighted vest with the help of his son Deion Jr. as he tries to come back from an unspecified health issue and return to his job in Boulder. 'He know why we couldn't be there,' Sanders Jr. said on his YouTube channel after Hunter's wedding. Sanders Sr. also canceled a speaking engagement in Florida scheduled for June 8. The timing of his return to campus remains unclear, but he is scheduled to appear at a Big 12 Conference media event in Frisco, Texas on July 9. Wearing weighted vests helps build strength and endurance. They also help stimulate the growth of new bone cells, according to Harvard Medical School. Deion Jr. said in a video posted on YouTube June 21 that his father was 'back active, moving around' and has made progress. Sanders Sr. previously said on social media on June 11 that 'everything is OKAY' and that he would provide a full update upon his return to Colorado. In late May, Sanders Sr. appeared on a podcast with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel and said that 'what I'm dealing with right now is at a whole 'nother level' but said he's coming back after losing about 14 pounds. Sanders previously battled issues with blood clots in his legs and had to miss a Pac-12 Conference media event in Las Vegas because of it in July 2023. Maple Leafs, Golden Knights discussing trade for Mitch Marner's rights: Sources
The Vegas Golden Knights are discussing a trade to acquire the rights of pending unrestricted free agent Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to league sources, which would allow them to sign the All-Star winger before he hits the open market on Tuesday. If they acquire Marner, the Golden Knights would gain the ability to sign Marner to a maximum-length eight-year contract. If they wait until Tuesday, when free agency opens, the longest term they could give him will be seven years. Advertisement TSN's Darren Dreger was the first to report the potential move. Marner is one of Toronto's most accomplished players, sitting fifth on the all-time scoring list with 741 points at age 28. He was drafted No. 4 by his hometown team in 2015 and became an immediate fan favorite because of his creativity and elite playmaking ability. However, Marner also drew sharp criticism for the team's inability to get over the hump in the playoffs and started to chafe under that scrutiny. It became clear he could be eyeing a departure in free agency when he refused to engage in discussions on a contract extension with the Leafs throughout last season. He also refused to waive his no-movement clause at the March 7 trade deadline for a deal that would have sent him to the Carolina Hurricanes. Earlier this week, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving acknowledged to reporters that Marner was going to test the free-agent market. A trade to Vegas would be similar to the one the Hurricanes made at last year's draft, when they sent Jake Guentzel's rights to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a third-round pick after failing to get him to sign a contract. That allowed Guentzel to ink an eight-year deal with the Lightning, carrying a $9 million AAV.
