Egypt: El-Wazir inaugurates glass factory, lay foundation for new project at Elaraby Group's complex
Built on an area of 20,000 square meters, the factory has a total investments of $25 million and an annual production capacity of up to 2 million square meters.
The factory produces various types of building facade glass, including double glazing, thermal glass, and curved glass. It relies fully on local components, with plans to export 50% of its production to Middle Eastern and African markets.
Moreover, the project, which is part of Elaraby Group's factory complex, offers around 300 direct job opportunities.
El-Wazir also laid the foundation stone for a new refrigerator and freezer factory belonging to Elaraby Group.
With nvestments valued at $108 million, the factory is established on an area of 107,000 square meters, in partnership with the Japanese company Sharp. It has an annual production capacity of 900,000 units.
Together, the two projects will create more than 4,000 direct job opportunities.
The minister's tour falls under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to advance the industrial sector and transform Egypt into a regional industrial hub, backing the state's Vision 2030.
He also visited ATCO Pharma, which produces human and veterinary medicines, in addition to nutritional supplements.
Located in the second industrial zone of Quesna, the factory spans 12,500 square meters and has total investments of EGP 1 billion.
It allocates 98% of its production to the local market and exports to more than 10 countries. The factory employs about 1,000 workers.
The minister also inspected the Piel Color Company for tanning and finishing leather, built on an area of 63,000 square meters with total investments of $200 million.
The factory employs around 938 job opportunities and incorporates between 65% and 75% local component in its products.
More than 90% of its annual production is exported to China, India, Russia, the US, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
Its annual production capacity stands at 40 million feet of semi-finished and fully finished leather, 3,000 tons of gelatin, and 3,000 tons of amino acids.
The minister concluded his tour by visiting Bavaria's fire-fighting equipment factory in the Gesr El-Suez area of Cairo.
Spanning an area of 4,574 square meters, the factory employs approximately 500 workers.

South Africa: Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Chairperson Concerned by Closure of Emfuleni Local Municipality Client Service Centre
The Chairperson of the Select Committee on Cooperative Governance and Public Administration (Traditional Affairs, Human Settlements and Water&Sanitation), Mr Mxolisi Kaunda, is concerned by reports of the closure of the Emfuleni Local Municipality client service centre due to unpaid rent. 'The closure of the client service centre negatively impacts the ability of the municipality to collect rates and taxes, a key driver of municipal revenue. The inability to collect revenue will have an unintended negative impact on the ability to deliver quality services to the people,' Mr Kaunda said. The 6th Parliament select committee visited the municipality and criticised the lack of progress in resolving material risks of governance and financial control within the municipality, which exacerbate the already dire state of poor service delivery. Furthermore, the continued attachment of the municipality's bank accounts by service providers, such as Eskom and Rand Water, due to non-payment for services requires a focused and deadline-driven approach. 'While it is not sustainable that the accounts of the municipality are attached, it is also unsustainable that the municipality does not pay for services. The residents of the municipality deserve better basic services in line with the objects of municipalities as envisioned in Section 152 of the Constitution,' Mr Kaunda suggested. The Chairperson also highlighted the importance of government departments paying the municipality for services to improve cash flow management and enable the municipality to provide services. The Chairperson called on the municipality and the provincial executive to find a workable solution to ensure that the client service centre is reopened and that service providers are paid on time. Seychelles: President Ramkalawan Attends Foundation Stone laying Ceremony for Orchid Village Affordable Housing Development Phases II & III
President Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by First Lady Mrs. Linda Ramkalawan and Vice President Ahmed Afif, attended the foundation stone laying ceremony for the second and third phases of the Orchid Village affordable housing development at Grand Anse Mahé on Friday morning. The comprehensive housing initiative encompasses 80 affordable residential units, comprising 32 two-bedroom and 48 three-bedroom accommodations. Ascent Project Limited will execute the construction over a 24-month timeline,with the project generously funded by the United Arab Emirates government at an investment of approximately USD 7.3 million. President Ramkalawan, alongside His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Saeed Alneyadi, Chargé d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy, and Minister for Land and Housing Billy Rangasamy, unveiled the commemorative plaque and laid the foundation stone, marking the project's commencement. The delegation also participated in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony.
