Fahmi: Leaked JAC document could have violated OSA
He said that if the document was verified as authentic and classified as confidential, its publication or distribution could have legal implications, particularly under the Official Secrets Act.
'I understand a police report has been filed. I cannot confirm whether the document circulated is authentic or not.
'If it is a genuine and classified document, then the Official Secrets Act applies.
'Therefore, we need to be cautious and avoid disseminating classified documents.

The alleged minutes of the JAC meeting, said to have occurred in May, have spread on social media since Saturday, reportedly starting from Reddit before going viral on Facebook and X.
Regarding the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's action against the dissemination of the document on social media, Fahmi said any action would only be taken based on public reports, and the authority to remove content is subject to the discretion of the respective platform.
As for the police, it said that an investigation has been launched into the alleged leak and dissemination of what is believed to be confidential minutes from a JAC meeting.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that the police had received a report on the matter.
The case is being handled by the classified crime investigation unit under the Bukit Aman criminal investigation department.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act, Section 203A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
'The focus of the investigation is on the disclosure and distribution of the information, including its spread on social media,' Mohd Khalid said.
The police also reminded the public not to share any classified documents or information marked as confidential or restricted.
'Stern action will be taken against any parties found to be involved in leaking or spreading such information,' he said in a statement.

[UPDATED] Foreigner nabbed for slashing ex-girlfriend in private college
SUBANG JAYA: Police have arrested a foreigner for slashing his former girlfriend at a private college here today. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the 20-year-old victim, also a foreigner, was in critical but stable condition with a slash wound to her neck. He said the ex-boyfriend was detained shortly after the incident. "At 6.30pm, Subang Jaya police received a report that a foreign man had injured his former girlfriend, also a foreigner, with a knife at a private university here. "Investigations revealed that the victim, aged 20, had slash wounds to the left side of her neck. The victimwas sent to University Malaya Medical Centre and placed in the Red Zone. "The victim is said to be in stable condition," he said. Wan Azlan said the suspect in the case, a 21-year-old who is the victim's former boyfriend, was detained not long after the incident. "The motive behind the attack is still under investigation," he said. He added that the case has been classified under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, which carries a sentence of imprisonment of up to 10 years, fine or caning, or any two of the three punishments. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil who is also PKR information chief said MPs were also given an explanation regarding Article 125 of the Federal Constitution. He said the explanation was delivered by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. Article 125 of the Federal Constitution refers to the appointment, dismissal and conditions of service of Federal Court, Court of Appeal and High Court Judges. Trio ordered to defend charge of robbing luxury handbag
KOTA KINABALU (July 14): A Sessions Court here today ordered three men to enter their defence on a charge of gang robbery. Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Mohd Melvin Matdi, 36, Shahrizan Sablee, 24, and Zamree Said, 35. The three were charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping, upon conviction. The court fixed August 8 for the defence trial. Mohd Melvin was denied bail and remains in remand, while bail for the other two accused was extended. According to the facts of the case, the three men allegedly robbed a 39-year-old woman of a luxury handbag at a tamu in Menggatal at about 4.20am on March 7 last year. Deputy public prosecutor Bryan Francis is leading the prosecution. Counsel Sylvester Kwan is representing Mohd Melvin, while the other two accused remain unrepresented. Four prosecution witnesses are expected to be called during the trial.
