Saudi Arabia and Indonesia signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between private sector institutions from both countries, totaling approximately $27 billion (equivalent to SAR 101.25 billion).
These agreements span several fields, including clean energy, petrochemical industries, and aviation fuel services, reflecting the two nations' aspirations for an advanced economic partnership.
According to the joint statement issued at the conclusion of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's visit to the Kingdom, both Saudi Arabia and Indonesia praised the strength of their economic ties and agreed on the importance of enhancing cooperation, particularly in mutually prioritized sectors. They also affirmed their support for building partnerships between their private sectors and leveraging the opportunities offered by Saudi Arabian Vision 2030 and Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 to strengthen cooperation in various fields.
They noted that bilateral trade between the two countries reached about $31.5 billion over the past five years, making Saudi Arabia Indonesia's top trading partner in the region.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to grow trade volume, increase mutual visits between public and private sector officials, and hold business events through the Saudi-Indonesian Business Council to explore promising opportunities and transform them into tangible partnerships.
The two parties welcomed the positive outcomes of the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Indonesia, held in September 2024 and February 2025. They expressed hope that the agreement would be finalized in the near future.
Both sides also praised the current level of coordination and efforts between government entities and leading companies in both nations. They reaffirmed their commitment to building on these achievements to strengthen investment relations and expand the scope of strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors.

Pakistan seeks Saudi investment in agri-infrastructure, eyes long-term food security

KARACHI: Pakistan on Friday urged Saudi Arabia to invest in agricultural research and storage infrastructure as part of a broader push for sustainable food security, according to an official statement. The call was made during a meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki in Islamabad, following the launch ceremony of the third phase of the Saudi Food Security Support Project in Pakistan. 'Rana Tanveer Hussain shared Pakistan's long-term vision for achieving sustainable food security through investment in agricultural research, innovation and modernized farming systems,' said the statement circulated after the meeting. 'The Minister proposed deeper collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in key areas such as joint agricultural research, technological exchange and investment in food processing and storage infrastructure,' it added. Hussain also highlighted Pakistan's commitment to improving irrigation practices and promoting climate-adaptive agriculture to address the growing challenges posed by environmental degradation. He invited Saudi investors to explore opportunities in agri-based projects, particularly in high-yield zones, and called for institutional cooperation between universities and research centers in both countries. The minister also proposed joint work on desert agriculture, seed development and water efficiency, describing them as high-impact areas for regional collaboration. Earlier, he distributed food baskets to families under the Saudi Food Security Support Project and interacted with recipients. Now in its third phase, the Saudi-backed initiative is delivering essential food supplies to thousands of households across Pakistan, providing much-needed relief amid climate-related challenges.

Dalai Lama says he hopes to live for another 40 years

The elderly Dalai Lama on Saturday said that he hopes to live for another 40 years, until he is about 130 years old, days after he sought to allay speculation over his succession by saying he would reincarnate upon his death. The Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader was speaking during a ceremony organized by his followers to offer prayers for his long life, ahead of his 90th birthday on Sunday. The Dalai Lama previously told Reuters in December he might live to 110.

End to war in Gaza ‘is Saudi Arabia's priority': FM Prince Faisal

A permanent ceasefire and an end to the war in Gaza are Saudi Arabia's current priority, the Kingdom's foreign minister said on Friday. Prince Faisal bin Farhan was speaking on a visit to Moscow, where he was asked about the possibility of Saudi Arabia normalizing ties with Israel. The Kingdom's main aim was peace in the Palestinian enclave, he said. 'What we are seeing is the Israelis are crushing Gaza, the civilian population of Gaza. This is completely unnecessary, completely unacceptable, and has to stop.' In 2024, the foreign minister said that there can be no normalization of ties with Israel without resolving the Palestinian issue. US President Donald Trump said he expected Hamas to respond to his 'final proposal' for a ceasefire in Gaza in the next 24 hours. Hamas said it was still studying the plan and consulting other Palestinian factions. The militant group is demanding guarantees that talks to end the war would take place during the proposed 60-day ceasefire, and that the pause in fighting would be extended until both sides came to terms. At least 20 Palestinians were killed early on Friday in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, 15 in an attack on a tent city for displaced people near Khan Younis in the south and the other five in Jabaliya in the north. At funeral prayers for the dead in Khan Younis, Mayar Al-Farr, 13, wept over the body of her brother Mahmoud. 'The ceasefire will come, and I have lost my brother? There should have been a ceasefire long before I lost my brother,' she said. Adlar Mouamar, whose nephew Ashraf was also killed, said: 'Our hearts are broken. We ask the world, we don't want food ... we want them to end the bloodshed. We want them to stop this war.' The local health ministry in Gaza says more than 57,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's assault on the region since an October 7 attack on Israel by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas. According to Israel, 1,200 people were killed in that attack and more than 250 taken hostage into Gaza.
