Two Brit gangsters shot dead in holiday hotspot died next to terrified 'wife'
The 'wife' of one of the two Scottish gangsters assassinated at a popular Irish bar on the Costa del Sol this weekend is said to have witnessed the shooting. Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jr, 46, were gunned down in front of terrified tourists including families on Saturday night.
The Mafia-style execution is said to have happened as people were watching the Champion League final. According to local media, one of the men's partners witnessed the attack. The incident happened on the terrace of Monaghans in Fuengirola when a masked man got out of a car and opened fire.

Lyons Jr was reportedly shot in the chest at close range and died at the scene. The second target was said to have ran into the bar as staff and customers ducked underneath tables and chairs. It has been reported that he was shot at least four times in the chest and abdomen and also died at the bar.
The gunman fled on foot before re-joining the accomplice who had driven him to the murder scene. Police have retraced part of their escape route to the old N-340 dual carriageway heading towards Benalmadena. Details about the make and colour of the getaway vehicle have not yet been released.
Officers from an elite Spanish National Police Costa del Sol -based Anti-Drug and Organised Crime Unit UDYCO are heading the ongoing probe, although they are reporting to a local investigating judge coordinating the operation.
Court officials are expected to confirm later today a secrecy order has been placed on the investigation, preventing public officials from making detailed public comment. Some local reports point to witnesses identifying the shooter as a 'blond man' and investigators working on the theory British nationals are behind the gangland killing, but detectives have not commented.
The shooting in Spain comes amid a violent gang war that has ripped through Scotland in recent months following an alleged dispute over drugs.
Spain's National Police confirmed two men were killed but declined to name them, saying: 'Around midnight on Saturday an incident with firearms occurred in Fuengirola, specifically at an entertainment venue along the seafront. Two males died as a result from gunshot wounds. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made so far.'
Career criminal Monaghan, who fled Scotland for Spain after a failed attempt on his life outside a Glasgow primary school in 2017, was tried but acquitted over the murder of notorious Glasgow hood Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll at an Asda car park in 2010.
In August 2017, he and Eddie Lyons Jr, both members of the Lyons crime family in Glasgow, were cleared of being involved in a brutal street attack on three men outside the Campsie bar in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire.

Hundreds of anti-illegal migration protesters and pro-immigration counter-protesters have demonstrated outside a hotel being used to house migrants. He began shouting 'there's only one Tommy Robinson' when a protester approached him. One Stand Up To Racism protester chanted 'fascist scum' at him before police stepped in to ensure they would not come together. Essex Police said it had established protest restrictions due to repeated serious disruption, violence, and harm to the community during previous demonstrations. The force said that there was a ban on anyone wearing face coverings and that there were designated sites opposite the hotel for protesters. A dispersal order was in effect from 12pm on Sunday until 8am on Monday, covering Epping town centre and nearby transport hubs. Both sets of protesters were kept separated by fences. Those protesting outside The Bell Hotel in Epping chose to ignore counter-demonstrators and began singing. They sang Sweet Caroline and Come On Eileen while demonstrators from Stand Up To Racism chanted 'Nazi scum off our streets'. Essex Police said that residents have reported feeling 'trapped', fearful of leaving their homes and anxious about protest activity previously. Hotel residents and staff have been advised to remain indoors after 5pm as some have experienced verbal and physical harassment, including a resident chased and injured while returning to the hotel, the force added. Essex Police said there was an 'escalation of violence' during protests on July 13, 17, 20 and 24, involving hundreds of people. The force added that officers were assaulted, missiles were thrown, vehicles were vandalised and the hotel sustained broken windows and graffiti. The Epping protest was sparked by the charging of asylum seeker Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, 38, with sexual assault after he allegedly attempted to kiss a 14-year-old girl. He denied the charge at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court and will stand trial in August.

Newport thug pleads guilty to flashing and assaulting PCs
Thug Wesley Davies, 34, from Newport, who has 83 previous convictions for 164 offences, committed the offences after being released from prison for a serious assault. He was jailed for 13 months in May last year for splitting a nurse's head wide open with a single punch. Davies' latest offences were committed on July 11 and July 12 in Newport and Cwmbran. He admitted assaulting a police officer, exposure, assault by beating and damaging a Gwent Police vehicle. The defendant was remanded in custody at Newport Magistrates' Court and is due to be sentenced on July 30. Davies was locked up last year for attacking Kevin Randall. The victim had been out with family and friends watching the British and Irish Lions rugby Test match against South Africa. He punched the consultant emergency nurse outside the Esso petrol station on Cardiff's Newport Road at around 9pm on Saturday, July 31, 2021. An argument had broken out between the strangers after the groups Mr Randall and Davies were with had rowed over a taxi. Matthew Comer, prosecuting, said: 'The victim's head hit the floor and he was knocked unconscious.' CCTV footage capturing the assault was played to the judge, Recorder David Warner. He said to Davies: 'You joined in and took up a provocative position before I accept returning to the taxi. 'There's then a further exchange of words, we can see that between the female members of your group, and then you got back out of the taxi, went straight up to Mr Randall and punched him. 'You punched him so hard that he fell unconscious on the floor with the back of his head split wide open. 'The offence to which you have pleaded guilty is a cowardly and unpleasant one with significant consequences for your victim.' Mr Randall was taken to the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff in an ambulance and 21 surgical staples were needed to close the deep wound. In a victim personal statement he revealed how he suffers from ongoing 'memory loss and psychological harm'. He was off work for four weeks as a result of his injury and had to miss a family holiday. 'I'm aware that the attack that night could easily have killed me,' Mr Randall said. Davies pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm. Assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a machete in public are among his previous convictions. Joshua Scouller said in mitigation: 'He regrets enormously the injury that he caused. 'The defendant is a man who has had problems with alcohol and has sought to become sober.' His barrister added that the lengthy delay in the case coming to court was not the fault of his client and the prosecution could offer no explanation for the slow progress.
