Development of 29 parks will protect land worth ₹150 crore in Nellore, says MLA

The Hindu19-06-2025
MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy on Thursday said that lands worth ₹150 crore were protected with the development of 29 parks in Nellore Rural constituency under 'Chandranna Parkula Baata' programme.
The MLA was speaking during the foundation stone laying event for parks in divisions 21, 22 and 23 in the city on Thursday (June 19).
He said, 'The government can only develop the parks, but the responsibility of maintaining the parks lies in the hands of the people. With the blessings of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the cooperation of the people, Nellore Rural constituency is witnessing unprecedented development.'
Meanwhile, the revenue department on Thursday (June 19) reclaimed two-acre plot of land belonging to Ahobilam Peetham in Survey No. 295 in Nellore Rural constituency worth ₹15 crore, which was allegedly encroached by a former Member of Parliament.
The ex-MP has reportedly acquired this land using his power, influence and financial strength. The Peetham members fought for this land many times but failed. They had brought it to the notice of the district authorities. However, no action was taken by the previous government.
After the Coalition government came to power, the representatives of the Peetham met Nellore Rural MLA and conveyed their problem. He immediately directed the Revenue officials, who collected the land records, and declared that the two-acre plot belonged to Ahobilam Peetham.

Canada revokes digital services tax, sees broader trade talks with US

Canadian Finance and National Revenue Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne yesterday announced that his country would rescind its digital services tax (DST) in anticipation of a mutually-beneficial comprehensive trade arrangement with the United States. The DST was announced in 2020 to address the fact that many large technology companies operating in Canada may not otherwise pay tax on revenues generated from Canadians. Canadian Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne has announced that his country would rescind its digital services tax in anticipation of a mutually-beneficial comprehensive trade arrangement with the US. In a statement, Ottawa announced that Canadian PM Mark Carney and US President Donald Trump have now agreed to “resume negotiations with a view towards agreeing on a deal by July 21, 2025.” 'Canada's preference has always been a multilateral agreement related to digital services taxation. While Canada was working with international partners, including the United States, on a multilateral agreement that would replace national digital services taxes, the DST was enacted to address the aforementioned taxation gap,' an official statement from the Canadian department of finance said. The statement announced that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and US President Donald Trump have now agreed to 'resume negotiations with a view towards agreeing on a deal by July 21, 2025.' Carney has been clear that Canada will take as long as necessary to achieve that deal. The digital tax collection will be halted today, and Champagne will soon bring forward legislation to rescind the Digital Services Tax Act. Fibre2Fashion News Desk (DS)
