Farrell on the bench for Lions against Australia-New Zealand
The former England captain is set to end a period in the international wilderness as the Lions continue their nine-game tour with their fifth and final warm-up on Saturday.
Farrell made the dash to Australia last week after his father, Lions coach Andy Farrell, summoned him as cover when utility back Elliot Daly broke his arm.
The 33-year-old, on his fourth Lions tour, earned the last of his 112 Test caps at the 2023 World Cup, and is coming off an underwhelming and injury-plagued season with French club Racing 92.
The Lions are unbeaten in four matches in Australia after wins over four Super Rugby sides, including 36-24 against ACT Brumbies on Wednesday in Canberra.
But they endured a sloppy performance against the Brumbies, with notable issues around the breakdown.
Numerous changes
The Lions have made numerous changes with Tadhg Beirne to take the captaincy reins, while young star Henry Pollock returns.
Scrum-half Ben White will make his first start for the Lions.
The Australia-New Zealand side, the first time the powerhouses have joined forces since 1989, will be led jointly by David Havili and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto.
Coach Les Kiss picked 17 internationals in his matchday 23 for Saturday's final warm-up game for the Lions before they face Australia in the opening Test on July 19 in Brisbane.
"We are in a great position just over a week out from the first Test," coach Farrell said.
"The players now have another chance to put in a strong team performance and put a hand up for selection for the Test matches against the Wallabies.
"Les Kiss has assembled a strong squad with lots of international experience and we know that he will have them well organised and they will bring a lot of physicality to the contest.'

Springbok scrum-half speedster Williams gets chance to impress
Speedster Williams can also operate as a winger -- a plus as head coach Rassie Erasmus favours those who can operate in more than one position. There are five scrum-halves seeking to top the pecking order, including two-time World Cup winner Faf de Klerk. De Klerk was omitted for an end-of-season tour to Europe last year, but the 33-year-old came off the bench in an unimpressive 42-24 win over Italy in Pretoria last Saturday. Cobus Reinach, who will be on the bench in eastern coastal city Gqeberha, Jaden Hendricks and new kid on the block Morne van den Berg are the other challengers. Van den Berg scored two tries and was one of the few Springboks to emerge from the victory over the Azzurri in Pretoria last Saturday with his reputation intact. But he will miss the second and final Test against Italy because Erasmus wants to rotate his matchday 23 to assess all those in his 45-man squad. "I have no doubt he will put the team before his own achievement, and the team would certainly like to make it a special and memorable occasion for him." Kiss's combined Aus-NZ side out to 'light up' Lions tour
Seventeen internationals are in coach Les Kiss's matchday 23 for the clash in Adelaide as the two rugby powerhouses join forces for the first time since 1989. Andy Farrell's tourists have won all four games so far in Australia and are hot favourites to dominate the opening Test in Brisbane on July 19. But Kiss believes his side can spring a surprise despite a limited build up, leaving the Lions heading to Queensland on the back of a demoralising loss. "If we got a win, yeah, it'll definitely light things up, wouldn't it," said Kiss, who will take over from Joe Schmidt as Wallabies coach next year. "The win would be great for us and we've already talked about making sure we don't get lost in that. "But we know that we have the capacity and the type of play to do that. We just need to make sure we do what we do well, and if we do that well, why not? "A win, or a loss for the Lions, certainly changes the way that the tour looks." Every player in Kiss's starting XV has international caps, spearheaded by All Blacks David Havili, Shannon Frizell and Hoskins Sotutu. The Australian contingent is led by Marika Koroibete, Pete Samu and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto. Kiss said they had been socialising a lot this week, as well as training, to get to know each other, with many in the team never having played together, or even met, before. "This has been a slow build but there is certainly a lot of ambition and a lot of belief in the group already, you can feel it," he said. "They want to go out there and show the best of themselves." Havili and Salakaia-Loto are co-captains with the New Zealand inside centre confident they can create problems. "We all want to win, but it's about how we do that," said Havili, who recently led the Canterbury Crusaders to the Super Rugby title. "They are a great quality side and we've only been together for six or seven days.
