BJP accuses Congress of 'targeting saints, soldiers, Sanatan Dharma' for vote bank politics

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Continuing its tirade against the Congress over the Malegaon Blast case issue following the verdict acquitting all seven accused, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today slammed the Opposition party for what it termed as "targeting saints, soldiers, Sanatan Dharma, and the Constitution" over the past 17 years as part of a "deliberate strategy to malign Hindus for electoral gains". Speaking at a press conference here, party spokesperson Sambit Patra said, 'Saints, soldiers, Sanatan, and the Constitution — Congress attacked all four for 17 years. It was a calculated strategy to malign Hindus for vote bank politics. But in the end, truth has triumphed.' Patra's remarks came in response to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court's acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. He alleged that the Congress party, particularly the Gandhi family, had sought to create a false narrative of 'saffron terror', deliberately linking Hindu identity with terrorism. 'The judgment by the NIA court has shattered the false propaganda that Congress tried to spread for years,' he added. Referring to a major revelation, Patra cited former Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer Mehboob Mujawar, who claimed he was pressured by senior officers and government officials to arrest Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, despite Bhagwat's name not featuring in any charge sheet or investigation report. Mujawar resisted, citing constitutional limits, and faced false allegations and career setbacks. He was later acquitted by the court, Patra said. 'This is a clear example of Congress' vindictive politics under the Gandhi family's leadership,' he asserted, a day after his colleague and senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad had sought Congress apology for making remarks that the blast was a case of 'Hindu terror'. Patra also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's earlier statement alleging that a senior Congress leader had met American intelligence officials and labelled 'Hindu terror' a bigger threat than the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). 'Everyone knows who that leader is,' he remarked, indirectly referring to the Gandhi family. He further criticised Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan for his comments that 'terrorism has no religion' while simultaneously referring to 'Sanatani or Hindu terrorism.' Patra also cited former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's admission that his 'saffron terror' remarks were made under party directives. UNI AJ RN

VHP demands comprehensive anti-conversion law, UCC

Kochi: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) state unit demanded that central and state govts come up with a comprehensive anti-conversion law and a uniform civil code that would be applicable to all states and union territories in the country. "A Christian priest's call for the repeal of anti-conversion laws in eleven states of the country is part of a pressure tactic and a move to facilitate conversion efforts," said Anil Vilayil, VHP state general secretary. He said similar laws existed during British rule. This law was introduced in many states during Congress's rule, he said. "Large-scale religious conversions are taking place in strategic places and tribal areas of India by misusing the freedom enshrined in the Constitution. Riots that have been taking place in northeastern states after Hindus became a minority are evidence of this," said Vilayil. "The ongoing protests and discussions are a clear example of the fact that Kerala is the epicentre of religious conversion efforts in the country. Strong religious conversion efforts are taking place in about 70 taluks of Kerala. Efforts are being made successfully by distorting ancient images and pouring money into them," he said in a statement.

'ATS pressurized, evidence erased': Acquitted accused in Malegaon blast case; names Sharad Pawar, Digvijay Singh

NEW DELHI: Sameer Kulkarni, one of the seven individuals cleared of charges in the Malegaon blast has accused senior Congress leaders and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of orchestrating a conspiracy to malign the Hindu community and manipulate evidence. Speaking to ANI, Kulkarni alleged that the entire case was built for political gain during the 2009 state elections, calling it an act of "Muslim appeasement" by the then Congress government. "We immediately expressed gratitude to the court. We fought this legal battle for the self-respect of the majority Hindu community," Kulkarni said. He blamed senior Congress leaders including Sharad Pawar, Digvijay Singh, Sushilkumar Shinde, Shivraj Patil, P Chidambaram, Jayant Patil, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Shakeel Ahmed, and Ahmed Patel for the case. 'If the Hindu community had not realised its duty and changed the government in 2014, we could not have come out alive,' he said, urging Hindus to "never vote for Congress so that no innocent is trapped again. " Kulkarni further alleged that investigating officers were pressured and evidence was tampered with. 'Even the ATS and other officers were pressurised and evidence were erased or manipulated. There were a lot of ATS officers who didn't know their statements were falsely recorded by their seniors,' he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Was Everyone's Dream Girl In 90's, This Is Her Recently. Investructor Undo He claimed the motive behind implicating them was their opposition to Congress' actions. 'This was a conspiracy to defame Hindu community globally and mislead the minorities. .. the Congress leadership has been supporting the Pakistani ISI and if we want to save our future generations, Congress should completely be erased,' he added. Retired police inspector Mehiboob Mujawar, who was with the ATS during the initial investigation, echoed concerns about the legitimacy of the probe. Speaking to ANI, Mujawar claimed that he had been ordered to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to bolster a 'Bhagwa terror' narrative. 'I did not follow the orders as they were horrific. As I did not obey, a false case was registered against me which destroyed my 40-year career,' Mujawar said. He asserted, 'There was no saffron terrorism. Everything was fake.' On September 29, 2008, six people were killed and over 100 injured when a bomb strapped to a motorbike exploded near a mosque in Malegaon during Ramzan and on the eve of Navratri. With all seven accused now acquitted, the case has turned into a flashpoint over the politicisation of terror probes and the reliability of past investigations.
