India's 2025 tour of England set a record with 50 scores of 50+ in a Test series, surpassing the 1993 Ashes. The series also tied the record for 19 century partnerships.
India's tour of England in 2025 has thrown up yet another record with regard to batting performances in Test cricket.
The series featuring India and England saw 50 individual scores of 50 or more, setting a new world record for the most 50-plus scores in a single Test series, surpassing the previous high of 50 set during the 1993 Ashes.
What Is The Most Individual 50-plus Scores In A Test Series?
50* – India in England, 2025
50 – The Ashes, 1993
49 – The Ashes, 1920/21
46 – West Indies in Australia, 1960/61
46 – West Indies in Australia 1968/69
Before this, only four other instances had approached such a high number of 50+ scores in a series: 49 by England and Australia in the 1920/21 Ashes, 46 by the West Indies in Australia during 1960/61, and again 46 by the West Indies in 1968/69. India's new record highlights not only the strength of their top-order but also significant contributions from the middle and lower order, with nearly every batter playing a crucial role across the five Tests.
Adding to the historical significance, India and England also equalled the record for the most 100-run partnerships in a Test series, achieving 19 century stands — matching the tallies of Pakistan's 1957/58 tour of the West Indies and England's 1967/68 visit to the Caribbean. These century partnerships were pivotal in anchoring innings and building match-defining totals under various conditions and situations.
What Is The Most Hundred Partnerships In A Test Series?
19 – Pakistan in West Indies, 1957/58
19 – England in West Indies, 1967/68
19 – India in England, 2025*
What makes this more incredible is the fact that the feat was achieved in the challenging swinging and seaming conditions in England, which have traditionally troubled subcontinental teams. Instead, the Indian lineup, along with English batters, thrived.
This is only the second Test series to produce 7000-plus runs (5 Tests), behind the 1993 Ashes series with 7221 runs in six Tests.
What Happened In India Vs England?
The five-match Test series between India and England in 2025 has been filled with high drama and top-quality cricket. The series kicked off at Headingley, Leeds, from June 20 to 24, where England secured a five-wicket victory. India made a strong comeback in the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, from July 2 to 6, winning convincingly by 336 runs. The third Test at Lord's, held from July 10 to 14, was a nail-biter, with England narrowly defeating India by 22 runs in a thrilling finish. The fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester, played from July 23 to 27, concluded in a hard-fought draw.

Yograj Singh's bombshell praise for Mohammed Siraj compares him to India's WC legend: ‘The way he bowled, he reminded…'

Former cricketer Yograj Singh was all praise for Indian paceman Mohammed Siraj after his lion-hearted effort helped India win the Oval Test. Siraj claimed a five-wicket haul, including the final wicket of Gus Atkinson, which sealed the win for India, and they drew the series 2-2. In the absence of Bumrah, Siraj once again stepped up on the big occasion and claimed four wickets in the first innings and then followed it up with a five-wicket haul to dismantle the English batting line-up. Siraj and Prasidh Krishna's sweltering spells under the slight drizzle in London saw India rip through England's tail and pull the curtains down on the gruelling five-match affair on level terms at 2-2. Yograj was full of admiration for India's sensational performance. He likened Siraj's fiery spells to those of the great Kapil Dev, praising the pacer for evoking memories of the legendary captain's brilliance with the ball. The 67-year-old was equally impressed with Shubman Gill's composed leadership, noting that the young batter showed the poise and assurance of an experienced skipper despite it being his first overseas assignment at the helm. "The way our players have played, it was amazing to watch. The way Mohammed Siraj bowled, he reminded me of Kapil Dev. The captaincy of Shubman Gill was mature. It did not seem at all that he was a captain for the first time," Yograj told ANI. Siraj's self-belief powers India's fightback Meanwhile, reflecting on his performance, the pacer opened up about his mindset heading into the decisive day, sharing how a simple Google-searched motivational quote became his source of belief. From trusting his process to executing a disciplined plan, Siraj credited the team's collective fight and his own inner conviction for the memorable finish. 'To be honest, it feels amazing. From Day 1 everyone fought hard and the result is there to see. Very happy. The plan was to keep it simple and hit a consistent spot. Not try too much and if I can get wickets from there it's a bonus and build pressure. When I woke up today I had the belief that I could do it, I had the belief system. I took a photo from Google which read I can do it and put it as my wallpaper,' Siraj said after the match.

Australia Star Says He Was Backing England To Beat India Before Mohammed Siraj Left Him Stunned

Australia Test wicketkeeper Alex Carey has termed India's thrilling win over England in the fifth Test "spectacular", and said pacer Mohammed Siraj got the old ball to move on the final day morning, which probably made the difference in the end. With just 35 runs needed and four wickets in hand, England looked in prime position to clinch the game and seal the series 3-1. But pacer Siraj turned the match on its head by taking three wickets to guide India to a memorable six-run win and draw the series 2-2. "I think the whole series was pretty entertaining - the way it finished was pretty spectacular. To see five Test matches go five days is pretty unique," Carey told Cricket Australia. "Seeing Woaksey (Chris Woakes) walk out to bat was pretty courageous. I was probably backing them (England) to score the runs. I reckon once we saw Siraj bowl that first over (on day 5), there was quite a bit of movement with a 77-over old ball," he opined. With England set to travel to Australia for the Ashes later this year, Carey said the home side will not make too many changes in the brand of cricket it plays, given that England have been playing 'Bazball' cricket -- a term used to describe Ben Stokes' team's aggressive, positive, and attacking style of Test cricket. "We probably don't have to go too far away from our style of cricket. When we were over there (England) last time in the Ashes, there was a lot of talk about their new style of play. We've seen it for a number of years now and there will be no surprises with it. "We know the way that they play. Both teams have a good balance between grinding and going after them with certain players," said Carey. Carey, who is recovering well from a concussion he suffered during the third Test against the West Indies in Jamaica, congratulated England batting mainstay Joe Root, who overtook Australian legend Ricky Ponting to become the second-highest Test run-getter after Sachin Tendulkar. "I don't think he'll be feeling any pressure (in the Ashes). Congratulations to him as well (for passing Ponting), it's a fantastic career so far. No doubt, legends of the game want to do really well in every series and he'll be no different," said Carey.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Included As AB De Villiers Picks His All-Time IPL XI

Indian Premier League is a tournament that started in 2008. Since its inception, the mega event has produced many star cricketers. The fact that young talents get an opportunity to compete with and against international stars and veteran players makes IPL a crucial part of India's cricketing set-up. One of the IPL legends AB de Villiers, in a podcast recently, picked his all-time XI. The ex-Royal Challengers Bengaluru star picked a total of 7 Indian players and four overseas. In the picked team, de Villiers named himself at the fifth spot. " Rohit Sharma, Matthew Hayden, Virat Kohli at three, Suryakumar Yadav, myself at five, at six let's go Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni seven, Bumrah at eight, Yuzi Chahal nine, Lasith Malinga ten, I'll just throw a little spin in the works, Daniel Vettori at eleven," said de Villiers on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel. AB de Villiers' All-Time IPL XI: Rohit Sharma, Matthew Hayden, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, AB de Villiers, Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni (captain and wicketkeeper), Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Lasith Malinga, Daniel Vettori. De Villiers was part of the South Africa Champions team in the recently-concluded World Champinship of Legends 2025. He played a crucial role in the side lifting its first-ever WCL title. The right-handed batter scored three centuries in the T20 tournament, one of them came in the final. De Villiers shone with his sensational century as South Africa Champions outplayed Pakistan Champions by 9 wickets to clinch their maiden WCL title at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Pakistan Champions captain Mohammad Hafeez won the toss and opted to bat first. Sharjeel Khan scored 76 runs, helping Pakistan post 195 for 5 in the alloted 20 overs. Wayne Parnell (2 for 32) and Hardus Viljoen (2 for 38) picked two wickets apiece for South Africa. In the chase, the Proteas reached home without breaking a sweat, thanks to AB de Villiers' 120 not out off 60 balls. Earlier in the season, de Villiers scored 116 not out against England Champions and then followed it up with 123-run knock vs Australia Champions.
