RoRo ferry fares notified, free rides for local pedestrians and two-wheeler users

Panaji:
State govt has notified fee rates for the Ribandar-Chorao ferry route, with the new charges set to come into effect from July 7. The move comes even as the much-anticipated roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) ferries for the route are yet to be launched.
The good news for daily commuters is that pedestrians and two-wheeler riders will continue to travel free of cost for their daily commute between Ribandar and Chorao.
The river navigation department (RND) earlier proposed introducing fares for the two RoRo ferries planned for the busy route. As reported by
TOI
on June 13, the proposal included a fee of Rs 10 to be levied for two-wheeler users, but this has now been waived.
'The villagers appealed to us that since the majority of them travel using two-wheelers, it would not be feasible to pay the fare every day,' an RND official said.
The official notification said that cars, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers will be charged Rs 30 per trip. Frequent users can opt for a monthly pass priced at Rs 900. Medium commercial vehicles and medium passenger vehicles will be charged Rs 100 per trip, with a monthly pass costing Rs 1,500.
Heavy motor vehicles and heavy passenger vehicles weighing less than 10 tonnes will face a higher toll of Rs 400 per trip but can avail of a monthly pass for Rs 6,000. Cargo vehicles will be charged at Rs 50 per tonne.
However, the free ride facility will not extend to tourists using the RoRo ferries. Tourists riding rental bikes will have to pay Rs 100 per trip, while those in rental cars will be charged Rs 300 per trip.
Tourists looking for a joyride on the ferries will be charged a nominal Rs 50 per trip.
'The introduction of fees for private vehicles is aimed at generating revenue to maintain and improve ferry operations, especially with the launch of RoRo services,' the official said.

Mahindra BE 6 And XEV 9e Pack 2 Get 79 kWh Battery Pack; Check Prices

Mahindra has made the 79 kWh battery pack more affordable for the BE 6 and XEV 9e by adding it to the Pack 2 trim of the electric vehicles. This move from the brand seems to be rooted in the consumer demand pattern, which the company has observed after the launch of both SUVs. A while back, the brand had announced that over 75 per cent of total bookings were for the expensive Pack 3 variants, which in the long term would affect the sales volume. The Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two with the 79 kWh battery pack comes at Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing down the price for the option from Rs 26.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Similarly, for the XEV 9e, the option of a 79 kWh battery pack now begins at Rs 24.50 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a significant reduction compared to the option on Pack 2. This iteration with the 79 kWh battery pack promises a range of up to 500 km, while the 59 kWh version offers 400 km. Additionally, Mahindra is incorporating sage leatherette interiors from Pack Three into the BE 6 Pack Two, complemented by an ivory roof finish for an elevated aesthetic. These electric SUVs are designed with both performance and convenience at their core. With 210 kW of power available in the 79 kWh variant and 170 kW in the 59 kWh version, along with several driving modes, including Boost Mode, they provide an exciting driving experience. Furthermore, the BE 6 and XEV 9e Pack Two models are equipped with superfast charging technology, enabling a 20 to 80 per cent battery recharge in just 20 minutes when using fast DC chargers.

Modified Toyota Hilux With Land Cruiser 300 Body Kit Is Dividing Internet: Video

The Toyota Hilux is one of the most versatile pickup trucks in India. However, the brand has not yet introduced any major updates for the pickup, although it did introduce the Hilux Black edition in March 2025, featuring a blacked-out theme, accentuating the cosmetic appeal with no changes to the profile. Nonetheless, it is one of those vehicles in the Indian automotive scene that comes with no top ceiling when it comes to modifications. We recently came across an example that gets its face from the flagship Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The video shared by Autodaddy on its Instagram page shows that the car modifier has tweaked the Toyota Hilux pickup with an LC3000 body kit. The modified pickup carries the form of the Land Cruiser 300, and the rear section is joined by Hilux's cargo bed. While there have been many changes in the profile, the integration of the LC300 kit into the Hilux has given it a completely new profile. Also, it gives an enhanced road presence to the pickup. The Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. It still delivers 201 hp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and transfers power to all four wheels via a permanent 4x4 system. The off-roading capabilities of the vehicle are aided by an electronic differential lock, an automatic limited slip differential, hill assist control, and downhill assist control, and its water-wading capability of 700 mm. Rs 65-Lakh Land Rover Sold For Rs 8 Lakh Because Of Delhi Vehicle Policy

New Delhi: The Delhi government's plan to lift the fuel ban on end-of-life vehicles and make efforts to resolve issues related to the restrictions on their movement has come too late for one man, who had to sell two expensive vehicles at throwaway prices because of the policy. In 2014, the National Green Tribunal ruled that diesel vehicles over 10 years old and petrol vehicles over 15 years old will not be allowed to be used in Delhi and the National Capital Region. This was later upheld by the Supreme Court. This policy forced Nitin Goyal to sell his 2013 Jaguar Land Rover, which he bought for Rs 65 lakh, to a person from Himachal Pradesh for just Rs 8 lakh. He also sold his 10-year-old Mercedes C Class 220 CDI Sports Limited Edition, for which he had paid Rs 40 lakh, for just Rs 4 lakh. Goyal asked that if BS-IV vehicles were being allowed to be sold till 2020, how were vehicles that followed the same norms, but manufactured in 2013, suddenly unfit for use? He has now bought a Jaguar F-Pace. Delhi Government's Letter The Delhi government on Thursday urged the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), which is responsible for taking anti-pollution measures for the Capital and NCR, to suspend the fuel ban on end-of-life vehicles just two days after it was implemented. Pumps in Delhi had been instructed not to give fuel to diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years. Following outrage, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the fuel ban was not feasible and technological challenges were coming in the way of implementing it. Mr Sirsa said people were unhappy because of the ban and the BJP government would stand by them. "Because of several critical operational and infrastructural challenges, it will not be feasible to implement this order at this juncture. In fact, immediate implementation may be premature and potentially counterproductive," Mr Sirsa said in a letter to the CAQM. The government also said it will make all efforts to resolve issues related to the restrictions on the movement of end-of-life vehicles in Delhi. How To Get Back Impounded Vehicles More than a dozen four-wheelers and over 60 two-wheelers were also seized after July 1, when the fuel ban came into effect. To recover the impounded vehicles, three conditions will need to be met: An affidavit will have to be given that the vehicle will be taken out of Delhi to another state. A challan of Rs 10,000 will have to be paid. The expenses incurred by the Transport Department in seizing the vehicle will also have to be reimbursed by the vehicle's owner.
