The Bucs need to prove they are all in on 2025 by trading for Micah Parsons

Jason Licht is one of the best general managers in football. He is always active in free agency and the trade market, but there is one more move he could make that would prove the Bucs are all in on the 2025 season.
Trading for Micah Parsons would have the Bucs ready to compete for a Super Bowl in 2025.
The trade for Parsons would require a gold rush of talent and picks to be sent to the Cowboys to have them consider the move likely. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones told fans not to worry about a trade happening, but could Licht send him an offer that is too hard to pass up?
Doing so would give the Bucs defense an instant star and centerpiece to build around, alongside the likes of Vita Vea, Antoine Winfield Jr., and Calijah Kancey.
With Parsons being just one of the talented pass rushers on the trade block, officially or unofficially, there are moves to be made. Jason Licht just has to go out there and make one happen.

Legendary Browns QB Sends Ominous Shedeur Sanders Warning to Team

The Cleveland Browns quarterback competition just may be the NFL's most-talked about position battle of training camp so far. What originally started as a four-player race between Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco, former first-round pick Kenny Pickett, rookie third-rounder Dillon Gabriel and rookie fifth-rounder Shedeur Sanders picked up a new contender on Monday after ESPN's Adam Schefter announced the Browns had signed former Pro Bowl passer Tyler Huntley. Given his experience, Flacco has been considered the leader in the clubhouse the entire offseason, while some reporters are convinced Pickett was giving him a run for his money before suffering an injury setback last week. The team released its first depth chart of training camp on Monday with Flacco holding down the No. 1 spot followed by Pickett, Gabriel, and Sanders — in that order. Some reports from camp indicate that the Browns are intrigued by Gabriel, and a few reporters have stated the former Oregon Duck has his share of supporters pulling for him to win the starting job. While the Gabriel/Sanders situation is one worth watching, and many fans have been clamoring for Sanders to start at some point this season, legendary Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar recently weighed with his assessment of how Cleveland is handling its two young QBs. "I would caution sacrifice those old veteran guys," Kosar said during an appearance on 92.3 The Fan. "Don't dissipate the confidence and belief of a young quarterback. We kill more quarterbacks by putting them in there early and stuff. "To have the veterans play early, especially in September, I think would be very productive for the long-term careers of the team and the young quarterbacks." "I love how (Shedeur) is handling stuff. He's out here an hour early. He's one of the last guys here. Dillon Gabriel's picking up the system. It's fun to watch." 🚨 @BernieKosarQB with @NickWilsonSays and @JPeterlin on #Browns rookie QBs 🏈 🔊 Listen: — 92.3 The Fan (@923TheFan) August 1, 2025 More NFL: Rashee Rice In Danger of Being Replaced as Patrick Mahomes' No. 1 WR Kosar added that he said the same thing during Baker Mayfield's rookie year when he went 6-7 as the starter, advocating for Tyrod Taylor to start until Mayfield was unquestionably ready as opposed to throwing him straight into the fire. Though Kosar clearly believes Sanders and Gabriel should both be riding the bench during their rookie seasons, he also added that he likes what he's seeing from both first-year passers. "I love how [Sanders] is handling stuff," Kosar continued. "... He's out here an hour early, and that's working out type stuff. He's one of the last guys here, he's signing autographs and all that. Packers' Matt LaFleur Doesn't Hold Back About Jordan Love

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Green Bay Packers enter the 2025 NFL season with high hopes of being a top-tier Super Bowl contender. However, there are some questions facing the team. One of the biggest questions has to do with Jordan Love. Will the third-year starting quarterback be able to take the jump into superstardom that fans expected from him last season? If he can, the Packers will be a legitimate contender. Love's 2024 season started off in rough fashion. He went down with a knee injury in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles that forced him to miss the next two games. After that, he was unable to find his rhythm. There are also some concerns swirling about where Green Bay will be if Love does not take a big step from a production perspective. LaFleur revealed that Love has made huge strides from a vocal leadership perspective. "Night and day," LaFleur said. "Even from last year, and I thought he took a big jump last year. Way more presence. As the kids say, he's got aura." He continued forward, talking more about Love and how he's looking ahead of the 2025 campaign. LaFleur sees a new sense of urgency in his quarterback. "You can see the urgency he's playing with right now," LaFleur said. "A lot of times in this [era], you're going to go as far as your quarterback goes. But it does take everybody around him playing at a high level." He completed 63.1 percent of his pass attempts for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Those numbers were solid, but they were not as good as expected. Love getting hurt in Week 1 might have been a big part of the lower production. All of that being said, the stage has been set for Love entering the 2025 season. He has a ton of talent around him offensively and is still considered to be a potential breakout superstar. It will be interesting to see if he can rise to the occasion. Dallas Cowboys fans shout at Jerry Jones to pay Micah Parsons

Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons has a significant (and loud) ally on his side during his ongoing contract extension dispute with the team: Cowboys fans. Fans attending the Cowboys' "Opening Day Ceremony" at training camp let team owner Jerry Jones know exactly where they stood on the Parsons issue on Saturday, July 26. As Jones, flanked by cheerleaders, took the stage to give a speech to the energetic crowd in Oxnard, California, multiple fans shouted, "Pay Micah!" The demand was clearly audible in a video that Jon Machota of The Athletic posted to social media site X. Parsons is still awaiting a contract extension from the Cowboys as he enters the 2025 season on an expiring rookie contract. Saturday's heckling made it clear that the fans are more interested in Jones getting a deal done than in hearing his promises about an improved roster. MICAH PARSONS CONTRACT: Jerry Jones comments on negotiations: 'You can get hit by a car' Micah Parsons' contract dispute, explained Parsons is set to enter the fifth-year option season, the last year of his rookie contract, in 2025. The four-time Pro Bowler is one of multiple star players across the NFL who have voiced discontent about his current contract ahead of the 2025 season. "I will never understand it," Parsons said in an interview with WWE wrestler Mark Calaway, better known as The Undertaker. "We wanted to do the contract last year – then you go out there and perform again. You would think, 'All right, we'll get it done early, we know some guys are about to get re-paid.' There's Myles [Garrett], Maxx [Crosby] is going, so you would think, 'Hey, let's get ahead of that.' "You can't want us to take less (now) because you're the one that decided to wait." Garrett, Crosby and now Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt are all fellow edge rushers who have signed massive contract extensions this offseason – Garrett and Watt's deals have each surpassed $40 million in average annual value. As Parsons pointed out, the longer the Cowboys wait, the higher his price will rise as other players' deals push new boundaries for the edge rusher market. Parsons has reported to the Cowboys' mandatory offseason activities – June minicamp and the start of training camp this month – while still making clear his desire for a new contract. MICAH PARSONS: Cowboys edge rusher questions contract standoff Jerry Jones' comments on Micah Parsons negotiations Jones himself shared his stance on the ongoing dispute during a media availability session at Cowboys training camp earlier in the week. "Just because we sign him doesn't mean we're going to have him," Jones said. "He was hurt six games last year, seriously. (Note: Parsons missed only four games last year with a high ankle sprain.) We've signed, I remember signing a player for the highest-paid at the position in the league and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year in (quarterback) Dak Prescott. "Contracts are four, five years, OK? There's a lot of water under the bridge if you step out there and do something in the first two or three. You can get hit by a car. Seriously." Given the reaction to the Cowboys owner's training camp appearance on Saturday, it seems the team's fans are less than satisfied with the explanation.
