Hajiji applauds Sawit Kinabalu's anti-corruption plan
(OACP) 2025-2029, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the culture of integrity and good governance at all levels of the organization.
'I encourage all departments and government-linked companies (GLCs) to emulate such approach in reinforcing integrity values and enhancing public trust in government institutions,' he stated.
He added that the OACP is an initiative to create efficient, credible and corruption-free administration.
Hajiji, who is also the chairman of Sawit Kinabalu, said the implementation of the OACP should not merely fulfill policy requirements, but it should become a norm in the work culture of GLCs and government agencies.
The Chief Minister said this after receiving the OACP from Sawit Kinabalu Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Victor Ationg at the Menera Kinabalu here today.
Accompanying Victor during the courtesy visit to the Chief Minister was Sawit Kinabalu Group's Integrity and Governance Division team.

Educating the public against scams
Published on: Saturday, July 12, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jul 12, 2025 Text Size: Mohd Agil presenting a souvenir to Musa. Kota Kinabalu: Affin Bank Berhad and the Sabah State Education Department are set to collaborate on financial literacy initiatives, aimed at preventing financial scams. Affin Bank Malaysia Group Chairman, Datuk Mohd Agil Mohd Natt, said the collaboration through financial literacy briefings would enhance understanding of financial management among educators and school staff, while also promoting the bank's new products. 'We held discussions with the State Education Department on how we can assist with personal financing for teachers and department staff. This is one of the initiatives we are offering, alongside financial literacy efforts to help them avoid scams and fraud. 'We are also providing financial briefings to help educators better understand money management, which is crucial for them,' he told reporters after paying a courtesy visit to the Head of State, Tun Musa Aman, at Istana Seri Kinabalu, last Thursday. According to him, the visit was to inform Musa about several upcoming plans and new products that will benefit Sabah. Further elaborating, Affin Bank's Group Community Banking Officer, Fairuz Radi, said they also intend to expand such collaborations to other agencies and CEOs of government-linked companies (GLCs) in Sabah. 'Affin has many programmes for financing and opening accounts for companies and individuals in Sabah. We're actively engaging and meeting with these companies. 'During today's visit, we also met with CEOs of several GLCs in Sabah to offer support. 'We have also introduced new products. While we continue to offer our traditional services, we are now focusing more on wealth products, personal financing, and several other new initiatives that will soon be rolled out in the Sabah market,' he said. Following the opening of its seventh branch in Inanam, the commercial bank also listed four more districts – Keningau, Tuaran, Papar, and Penampang – as locations for its upcoming branches next year. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Sabah anticipates positive outcome: Meeting of the JKTPA-MA63 on July 14
Published on: Friday, July 11, 2025 Published on: Fri, Jul 11, 2025 Text Size: Hajiji signing the plaque commemorating the opening of the AFFIN Bank Inanam branch on Thursday. Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is anticipating a positive outcome from the upcoming meeting of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) Implementation Action Council Technical Committee (JKTPA-MA63), said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. He said the meeting on Monday would cover a wide range of matters, all aimed at ensuring benefits for the State. 'The meeting will discuss many things, but it is indeed for a positive outcome. 'This is what I always do whenever I'm in Kuala Lumpur — I meet with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers to discuss the rights of the people of Sabah,' he said after opening a bank at Plaza Kolombong, near here. Last week, State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun had said that Hajiji had sent two letters to the relevant authorities, both as a reminder and an offer for Sabah to host the next JKTPA-MA63 meeting. The committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, has to discuss MA63-related demands before they can be presented to the Federal Cabinet for policy decisions. The last meeting was held on May 28. Earlier, Hajiji said the State Government is committed to shaping a modern, competitive and inclusive economy for Sabah through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan. 'Under our Hala Tuju SMJ development plan, we are clear in our direction. Our SMJ roadmap aims to shape an economy that is modern, competitive and inclusive, one that uplifts every community, both rural and urban. 'It was crafted to serve as the overarching framework for various sectoral development blueprints. 'Our commitment to Sabah's future is reflected in the Plan, resting on three foundational pillars – first, Agriculture, Industry and Tourism, second, Investing in our people and third, Enhancing Connectivity with a Green Approach. 'We are not simply building an economy, we are building a shared future, where the benefits of progress are felt across every district, including here in Inanam,' he said. The Chief Minister said no economy can thrive without financial inclusion. 'A strong, accessible and inclusive banking system is essential to unlock the full potential of our people and businesses. In Sabah, 98 per cent of all businesses are SMEs, the engine of local enterprise and employment. 'But many of these businesses still face real barriers: limited access to credit, lack of digital readiness and difficulty in navigating changing markets,' he said, adding banks can help close this gap, through targeted financing for sectors such as agriculture and eco-tourism, mentoring and advisory support, dedicated financing for women entrepreneurs and financial literacy programmes that prepare Sabahans, especially youths, for the demands of today's economy. 'We believe that every Sabahan should be empowered with the financial tools and support to grow, save, build and contribute to our economy. 'We recognise that meaningful development must begin with access to capital, financial services and the tools that enable entrepreneurship and upward mobility. 'For our rural communities, small businesses and youth stepping into the digital economy, it must enable progress and unlock potential,' he said. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Hajiji: SMJ Plan driving modern, inclusive and competitive Sabah economy
Hajiji signing the plaque commemorating the opening of the AFFIN Bank Inanam branch on Thursday. INANAM (July 10): The State Government remains firmly committed to shaping a modern, competitive and inclusive economy for Sabah through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor. 'Under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan, we have a clear direction. Our roadmap is designed to build an economy that is not only modern and competitive but also inclusive — uplifting every community, whether rural or urban,' he said. He explained that SMJ serves as the overarching framework for various sectoral blueprints, anchored on three foundational pillars: Agriculture, Industry, and Tourism, Investing in People and Enhancing Connectivity with a Green Approach. 'We are not just building an economy — we are building a shared future where the benefits of progress are felt across every district, including here in Inanam,' he said during the official opening of the AFFIN Inanam Branch at Plaza Kolombong on Thursday. Hajiji emphasised that a thriving economy must be underpinned by financial inclusion. 'A strong, accessible and inclusive banking system is vital to unlocking the full potential of our people and businesses. In Sabah, 98% of all businesses are SMEs — the backbone of local enterprise and employment,' he said. However, many SMEs still face real challenges, such as limited access to credit, digital readiness gaps, and difficulty adapting to evolving markets. 'Banks like AFFIN can help bridge these gaps through targeted financing for agriculture and eco-tourism, mentoring and advisory support, dedicated financing for women entrepreneurs, and financial literacy programmes — especially for youth entering the digital economy,' he said. He stressed the importance of empowering all Sabahans with the financial tools and support to grow, save and contribute meaningfully to the state's economy. 'Meaningful development must begin with access to capital and services that support entrepreneurship and upward mobility. For our rural communities, small businesses and youth venturing into the digital economy, this access must unlock real progress,' he added. The Chief Minister said with AFFIN's comprehensive suite of banking services, Sabah is moving towards a more financially inclusive society where opportunities reach all. He also congratulated AFFIN Group on its milestone achievements, including: Winning a place in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 for the second year in a row and a strong debut in the USD bond market with 3.5 times oversubscription, demonstrating investor confidence in AFFIN's fundamentals.
