Super Mario 3D All-Stars Gets ANOTHER Switch 2 Update... But You Still Can't Buy It

Super Mario 3D All-Stars Gets ANOTHER Switch 2 Update... But You Still Can't Buy It

Miami Herald2 days ago
Way back in 1993, Super Mario All-Stars released for the Super Nintendo, featuring re-made versions of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, updating the visuals of the old NES games to the standards of SNES titles like Super Mario World. Fast forward a few decades, and 2020 saw the release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which collected two of the greatest games of all time, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy... And also Super Mario Sunshine. (I kid, I kid. We love you, Sunshine!)
For some reason that's still unknown to this day, Super Mario 3D All-Stars was marketed as a "Limited Edition" release and was only on sale between September 2020 and March 2021. Today, if you want the game, you'll need to shell out well over $100 to buy a physical copy.
Thus, it came as a surprise when Super Mario 3D All-Stars was updated for the launch of the Switch 2 last month. The patch notes were vague, with unspecified "improvements" to make optimize the game for Switch 2. Then, it came as an even bigger surprise when 3D All-Stars was updated AGAIN. Version 1.1.3 is similarly vague with its patch notes, with "several adjustments" to "improve gameplay on Switch 2."
Neither of these patches transform the games. Super Mario Sunshine and Mario 64 still only run at 30 FPS, for example, and Mario 64 is still only in 4:3 aspect ratio. Alas, the dream of a 120 FPS 4K version of Mario 64 is still just a dream.
It's absurd that Super Mario 3D All-Stars is currently unavailable for purchase. We can only hope that the folks at Nintendo are working on a true Switch 2 version of the game, perhaps including Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D Land, which are kind of like "lost episodes" in Mario's 3D oeuvre. Then again, Nintendo marches to its own drum, for better or worse. If something seems expected, then Nintendo is more than likely to do the exact opposite. But hey, maybe that's just part of what we love about them.

Increasing accessibility at Ohio State Fair

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Ohio State Fair starts on July 23 and set up is well underway at the fairgrounds. Each year, the fair brings a mix of new events and activities for fairgoers of all ages and abilities while always keeping the well-loved traditions, like the butter cow, fair food and livestock competitions. 'We also have to keep it fresh, and we have to keep people coming back,' Ohio State Fair PR and Marketing Director Jess West said. 'So offering new entertainment, new musical artists, new fair food every year is always really important as well.' This year's Ohio State Fair deviled egg flavor is… West said that this year, there is a new location for the free petting zoo and pig races called the Barnyard. There will also be a chainsaw carver making wood art live and a sourdough competition for bakers. 'We always like to have a nice blend of new and tradition here at the Ohio State Fair, so people who've been coming for so many years always want to see those traditional things that are exciting for new people, too,' West said. Besides the fun events and activities, Director of Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Kevin Miller said accessibility is always a priority. 'Whether you have a visual impairment, you have a hearing impairment, you have a mobility impairment, we want to make sure no matter where you go within the Ohio State Fair, we've tried to take into consideration what are the things that might just need a little bit of extra things,' Miller said. The fair has adult changing stations, a sensory-friendly playground, and two quiet rooms. Brand new this year, people with mobility issues can get a $10 off coupon to rent an electric scooter. Miller said more than 300 performances at the 2025 fair will have sign language interpreters. Columbus says village's speed cameras are straining city's resources 'We are all collectively trying to make sure every event, every booth, everything, people are starting to understand how we try to make sure things are more accessible, both electronically, but also physically when you come to the grounds,' Miller said. Since he has a son with a disability, Miller said he understands how limiting it can be when events are not accessible. He said that each year, the Ohio State Fair improves on accessibility resources. 'We're here to try to make sure that you can come and enjoy yourself here at the Ohio State Fair,' Miller said. The Ohio State Fair starts next Wednesday and runs through Aug. 3. For information on accessibility and accommodations, check out Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. WNBA All-Stars dazzle fans with stunning fashion on the Orange Carpet

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The WNBA All-Stars tipped off the weekend by showing off their best fashion fits Thursday, turning the orange carpet into their own catwalk. They walked across a stage at the Indianapolis convention center with hundreds of adoring fans cheering them. It was a fun new wrinkle to the WNBA All-Star weekend, showing off for the fans on stage. 'This was definitely a lot of fun,' said Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum, who wore a shiny long-sleeved red dress and heels. Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston, who wore a long, dark gown and heels, agreed. 'I think it just kind of gets the fans a little bit more excited about seeing all the outfits,' she said. WNBA players have been amping up their clothes game over the past few seasons, garnering attention off the court for their pregame fashion choices. Tunnel Fits — as the players arrival to the arena is called — is not new to the league, but it has risen to a whole new level of fashion. Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky wowed the crowd in a leopard print coat and stylish sunglasses. 'I missed this last year because of flight issues, but was so glad to be here this year for it,' Reese said. Reigning league MVP A'ja Wilson, of the Las Vegas Aces, wore a Di Petsa-designed maroon sleeveless gown that exposed her left leg from the hip and sported stunning gold Saint Laurent earrings. The New York Liberty's Natasha Cloud, who will compete in the skills competition on Friday night, admitted she was a little intimidated walking across the stage. 'It took me out of my comfort zone,' she said, sticking with pants and shirt. Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx loved the chance to walk across the stage, but as a mom of a young daughter, wished she knew that there was going to be kids in the audience, as she might have chosen a different, less revealing outfit, she said. ___
