Akani Simbine, Zakithi Nene set for Diamond League return in London
The duo, who anchored the South African men's 4x100m and 4x400m teams to gold at World Relays in China in May, have spent more than the past month in training, away from competition.
Simbine, winner of the 60m bronze at the world indoor championships in March, has gone unbeaten over 100m so far this season with six wins out of six.
But he'll do well to make it seven on Saturday when he goes up against Olympic 100m and 200m champions, American Noah Lyles and Letsile Tebogo of Botswana.
At this meet last year Simbine finished second behind Lyles — but ahead of Tebogo — while dipping under 9.90sec for the second time in his career.
The South African speedster achieved that two more times during the Paris Olympics the next month, lowering his national mark to 9.82 while finishing fourth in the final.
Also in the line-up are Jamaicans Oblique Seville and Ackeem Blake as well as the British trio of Zharnel Hughes, world indoor champion Jeremiah Azu and Louie Hinchliffe, all members of the relay outfit that took bronze behind South Africa in Paris.
Nene, who has notched up two second places in Diamond League meets this year as well as a victory in Nairobi, faces five Olympic medallists as well as Zambian Commonwealth Games 400m champion Muzala Samukonga.
Vernon Norwood was part of the victorious US 4x400m ensemble in France, with Bayapo Ndori and Busang Kebinatshipi competing for runners-up Botswana.
Olympic 400m silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith and Charlie Dobson ran for the third-placed British team.
But Nene owns the fastest season's best in the field, courtesy of the 43.76 he clocked in Kenya.
The meeting will be broadcast on SuperSport channel 208 from 3pm.

Brad Binder might not be thrilled with his eighth-place finish in the Czechia MotoGP, but he is excited over the good pace shown by the Red Bull KTM RC16 over the weekend. His team-mate Pedro Acosta managed to stay with the Ducati of winner Marc Marquez and runner-up Marco Bezzecchi's Aprilia for a long time before going off the boil to still finish third ahead of Pecco Bagnaia. Tech3 KTM rider Enea Bastianini was also in the hunt for a podium place before sliding out on lap seven. Both Acosta and Bastianini stood on the sprint podium on Saturday, a race also dominated by Marquez. Binder just missed out on Saturday points by finishing in 10th place. Brad Binder promoted Binder rode a solid main race from 19th on the grid to cross the line in ninth on Sunday. Fermin Aldeguer's three-second penalty for an infringement on Miguel Oliviera saw Binder gain one place. 'I'm by no means happy with eighth position, but even though it doesn't look like it, we are slowly starting to figure it out. The really good thing is that both Pedro and Enea were super-fast this weekend so I have some good things to check and figure out how they are doing it,' Binder told the KTM website after the race. I found a way to be better in mid-corner and exit but I was losing a lot of time in braking and entry. Still 12th in title race Binder earned eight points in Brno and remains 12th in the title race. Out in front, Marc Marquez (381 points) now leads his brother Alex by a mammoth 120 points. Brad Binder's brother Darryn Binder was less successful in Brno, finishing the Moto2 outside the points in 17th place. The season now takes its customary four-week summer break before action returns at KTM's home track, the Red Bull Ring in Austria, from 15 to 17 August.

Parents of SA athletes stuck in Portugal growing more anxious
CAPE TOWN - The parents of a South African team of young athletes stuck in Portugal are growing more anxious by the hour amid fears they will be booted from their accommodation after a dream sports trip turned into a nightmare. The team and their coaches have until midday on Monday to check out as families scramble to cover the additional costs incurred on the trip when the organisers failed to book return flights after spending a week in Spain competing at an annual soccer tournament. Nine players and one coach have since returned, but more than a dozen other young boys and girls remain stranded in Lisbon. One of the coaches working for the organisers, Jayvin Chisholm, said many of the coaches are furious with the top management of BT Academy, which admitted in a letter calling for donations that the funds paid by the players had fallen short of covering the estimated cost of the trip. 'He's just trying to keep afloat with the coaches that are willing to even speak to him at this moment being myself and coach Clayton because the other coaches, they won't speak to him at all because they are just so furious about the whole situation.' One parent whose daughter is still in Portugal said they have not received any communication from the owner. 'As days are going, then she said they are changing, they moved from Santa Basia, they going to Madrid, where they got another accommodation. There they spent two nights there and then last night around past ten, they have to drive from Madrid to Lisbon airport.'
