Mali vs Tanzania: Preview & Predicted Score
Kick-off is at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1), and fans can catch the action live on beIN Sport, CANAL+, New WorldTV, SuperSport, Azam Media, SABC, Ziggo, BAND, SportTV, and Arena Sport.
It's a chance for both teams to get their campaign off to a strong start in a tricky group that also includes South Africa and Ghana. The two sides haven't met in this tournament since 2010 when Mali edged a wild 3-2 win – a match remembered for four goals in just seven first-half minutes. But that was a long time ago, and plenty has changed since.
Mali are hoping to recapture the form that saw them reach the semi-finals in 2018, their best-ever finish. They looked sharp in qualifying, scoring 20 goals and conceding only three. With PSG's Agueicha Diarra in goalscoring form – she netted eight times during qualifying – and Fleury 91 midfielder Aïssata Traoré bringing French experience, there's optimism in the camp.
Coach Mohamed Saloum says his side are 'ready, focused and eager to go far', while Traoré insists they're aiming to start strong and show they mean business.
Tanzania, meanwhile, are back at WAFCON for the first time since 2010 – and they know they're carrying the hopes of East Africa as the region's only representative. Head coach Bakari Shime has praised the squad's preparation and says the team are in a good place mentally ahead of the opener.
They'll be missing two key players though: Clement Opah, who is suspended, and striker Clara Luvanga, who didn't take part in Sunday's training and is under medical observation.
Vice-captain Anastazia Katunzi says the team are excited to be back on the continental stage and are fully focused on executing the game plan they've been working on.
This is only Tanzania's third appearance at WAFCON and they've never made it past the group stage. But with experienced names like Stumai Abdallah, Aisha Mnuka and Elizabeth Chenge in the mix, they'll fancy their chances of causing a few problems.
Interestingly, the two sides met recently in a friendly in Dar es Salaam which ended 2-2 – so there's very little between them on paper. Mali might be the favourites, but Tanzania won't roll over.
Score prediction:
Mali are stronger on paper. They scored 20 goals in qualifiers and have the tournament's top scorer, Agueicha Diarra. Their defence is solid too, letting in just three goals.
Tanzania are motivated but missing key players, and they're up against a more experienced side. Unless they defend really well, Mali should win this comfortably.

WAFCON 2024: Nigeria Books Ticket to the Final Match
Rabat — Nigeria's Super Falcons clinched a dramatic 2–1 victory over South Africa's Banyana Banyana in the 2024 WAFCON semifinal at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, securing their place in the final. The first goal arrived in the 45+5th minute when Rasheedat Ajibade calmly converted a penalty after a VAR-checked handball, putting Nigeria in front . Just three minutes later, South Africa responded immediately with Linda Motlhalo equalizing from another spot kick, restoring parity at 1–1. The deadlock persisted until deep into stoppage time, where Nigeria struck again. In the 90+4th minute, substitute Michelle Alozie headed in a pinpoint corner to silence the crowd and send Nigeria through. While the goal didn't appear in live commentary, multiple sources confirmed Nigeria's late breakthrough and 2–1 progression to the final. It was a match of two contrasting styles — South Africa dominating possession, Nigeria imposing their physicality and aerial strength. Banyana applied relentless pressure after halftime but were undone by Nigeria's prowess. The result sends Nigeria into Saturday's final with momentum and belief in their pursuit of a 10th WAFCON title, while South Africa's title defense concludes here.

FIFA to Open Office In Morocco
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), in partnership with FIFA, is preparing to open the first African Office of the international football governing body on Moroccan soil. The initiative aligns with FIFA's role in the advancement and promotion of football, while taking into account the universal, educational, and cultural impact of the sport. The official inauguration is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, on the sidelines of the Women's AFCON final, and will be attended by a distinguished presence and delegations. This move follows the signing ceremony on December 17, 2024, involving Morocco's Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa. The agreement includes provisions to support and implement FIFA projects. Speaking at the time, Akhannouch said the opening of this office reflects the trust international sporting institutions place in Morocco, particularly after its selection to co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. The new FIFA regional office will be based at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamoura, Rabat.

England vs Italy – Preview & Score Prediction
Reigning champions England take on Italy today in the first semi-final of UEFA Women's Euro 2025. Kick-off is at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1) in Stade de Geneve. England come into the tie as favourites but needed penalties to edge past Sweden in the quarter-finals, drawing 2-2 in regulation time after coming from two goals down. They eventually won the shootout 3-2 after seven rounds. Italy, meanwhile, are enjoying a landmark tournament. Their 2-1 win over Norway in the last round was their first knockout victory at the Euros since 1997. The winner will face either Spain or Germany in Sunday's final. England beat Italy 5-1 in a friendly in February 2024, with goals from Wubben-Moy, Hemp (2), Toone and Daly. Cambiaghi scored Italy's only goal. England captain Leah Williamson is available despite injury concerns. Off the pitch, England have spoken out strongly against racist abuse aimed at defender Jess Carter. 'We feel like it has gone past [taking the knee] now,' said Georgia Stanway. 'We want to tell people that what is being done isn't enough.' Manager Sarina Wiegman and players have urged tech companies to do more to tackle abuse. Italy captain Cristiana Girelli acknowledged their underdog status but struck a defiant tone. 'On paper, we might be [underdogs],' she said. 'But football is decided on the pitch, not on paper.' Girelli praised manager Andrea Soncin for instilling belief and clarity since taking charge post-World Cup. 'He gives us motivation, lets us express ourselves, and made us realise that everyone has their time,' she said. Soncin added: 'England are direct. They attack space well. But we're confident we have what it takes.' Predicted line-ups: England: Hampton; Bronze, Williamson, Carter, Greenwood; Walsh, Stanway, Toone; James, Hemp, Russo Italy: Giuliani; Oliviero, Salvai, Linari, Di Guglielmo; Caruso, Giugliano, Severini; Cantore, Girelli, Bonansea Prediction: The Lionesses to prove too clinical, despite Italy's spirited run.
