Operation Cheyutha: 12 more Maoist cadres and militia members from Chhattisgarh surrender before police in Telangana
They turned themselves in before Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police B. Rohit Raju at the district police headquarters.
According to the police, the surrendered Maoists include two Divisional Committee Members, four Area Committee Members, two each party members, militia members and Revolutionary People's Committee (RPC) members.
An interim aid of ₹25,000 each will be disbursed to the 12 surrendered Maoists immediately and the remaining amount will be transferred into their bank accounts in the forms cheques as part of economic support.
So far this year, as many as 294 Maoists of various ranks surrendered before the police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. An overwhelming number of these surrendered Maoists hail from neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
Police said the effective implementation of Telangana government's 'Operation Cheyutha' programme for the rehabilitation of the surrendered Maoists is encouraging the underground cadre of the proscribed outfit to shun the violent path and return to the mainstream.

'Today, every vote counts. Even if you wrongfully delete or wrongfully add a single voter, it is creating a non-level playing field that affects elections and democracy which are part of the basic structure. Even a constitutional amendment is unconstitutional if it violates the basic structure,' Congress Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters after the meeting. The parties, which are contesting the Bihar assembly elections as allies, said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which began on Sunday, was a 'citizenship test' in the garb of verifying whether a person is eligible to vote in the election due later this year. The law is that when the electoral process starts, challenges are not heard by courts. So this is a very serious thing. RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said that the 'conspiracy' to 'disenfranchise crores of voters' will be fought tooth and nail. Fireworks unit blast: Families protest demanding higher compensation
Virudhunagar: Tension prevailed at the Virudhunagar Govt Medical College Hospital on Wednesday as families of victims killed in the fireworks factory blast near Sattur held a protest, refusing to receive the bodies until enhanced compensation was assured. Eight workers were killed in the explosion at a private unit in Chinnakamanpatti owned by a Sivakasi-based operator. While postmortem was completed for all victims, families of five workers — Ramajeyam, Naga Pandi, Lakshmi, Chellapandi, and Punniyamurthi — sat on the road outside the hospital demanding 10 lakh compensation each from the state. After revenue and police officials intervened, the body of Punniyamurthi was received, but others continued their protest and later were dispersed by the police. The incident triggered sharp political responses. CPI(M) state secretary P Shanmugam urged the state govt to immediately disburse 20 lakh to the families, in line with the National Green Tribunal (NGT)'s earlier directive for blast victims, and an additional 10 lakh from the factory management.
