Eid celebrated in parts of Khyber district
The rest of the population plans to celebrate the festival today (on Saturday), as per the official announcement by Pakistan's central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
According to the report, hundreds of worshippers offered Eid prayers in Bara. After the prayers, people returned to their homes to fulfil the Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi—the ritual animal sacrifice performed in remembrance of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim's (AS) obedience to God.
This year, Eid al-Adha fell on June 6 in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring Gulf countries, as well as Indonesia. Meanwhile, many other countries, including Pakistan and India, will observe it on June 7.
Globally, there are approximately 1.9 billion Muslims— around 25 percent of the world's population. Indonesia has the largest Muslim population, with about 230 million, followed by Pakistan with 212 million, India with 200 million, Bangladesh with 150 million, and Nigeria with 100 million Muslims.

'There was a time when these pieces were made with pure gold and silver,' he told The Express Tribune. 'Due to cost, brass is more common now, but every piece is still made entirely by hand.' 'If they ever start making these as well, we'll have no work left,' he said with concern. Despite the cost, devotees often insist on handcrafted pieces to honour their religious traditions. 'This is not just craftsmanship,' said Sabt Hasan, a local mourner. 'The Alam represents the bravery of Hazrat Abbas (RA), the Tazia commemorates the martyrs of Karbala, the Zarih symbolises reverence for Imam Hussain (RA), and the cradle reminds us of Hazrat Ali Asghar (RA). The sound of hammers, the gleam of ornaments, and heartfelt conversations about devotion create an atmosphere unique to this time of year. CM Maryam rewards sanitation workers in Chiniot
CHINIOT: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz distributed cheques of Rs 10,000 each to 1,129 sanitation workers of Chiniot district under the Punjab Suthra initiative. The ceremony was held in three separate events at the tehsil level, where Members of Provincial Assembly, Additional Deputy Commissioner General, and Assistant Commissioners distributed the cheques to the sanitation workers. During the ceremony, the assembly members praised the sanitation workers for their hard work and dedication, particularly during Eid-ul-Azha, when they sacrificed their holidays to maintain cleanliness standards in the district. They acknowledged the workers' efforts in making the streets and roads of the city and villages clean, presenting a practical example of a clean Punjab. On this occasion, the sanitation workers thanked CM Maryam Nawaz for the cash prize and reiterated their commitment to keeping the district clean with the same spirit and dedication in the future. The district administration and waste management company also distributed appreciation shields and certificates among the officers, recognizing their efforts in maintaining cleanliness standards in the district.
