BRS leader threatens indefinite hunger strike over pending Rythu Bandhu funds

Hans India27-06-2025
Hyderabad: Alleging discrimination against Rangareddy district, BRS leader P Karthik Reddy on Thursday said that he would sit on an indefinite hunger strike if the government does not release Rythu Bandhu funds to the farmers of the district.
Addressing a press conference here along with BRSV President Gellu Srinivas Yadav, party leader P Karthik Reddy asked whether the chief minister A Revanth Reddy knows that there is a district called combined Rangareddy district. Revanth Reddy is ignoring Rangareddy only because the Congress did not get votes and seats from the district.
The per capita income of the combined Rangareddy district is highest after Gurgaon district in Haryana. The district is one of the five districts that bring the highest income to the country. 'I will call Rythu Bharosa as Rythu Bandhu only. Why are the Rythu Bandhu funds not being deposited to the accounts of the farmers of the district,' asked Karthik Reddy?
The BRS leader said that farmers of the district were cheated on the 111 GO issue. Revanth Reddy is not even in a position to care about the road leading to his constituency. The political importance of the Rangareddy district is being reduced. Why Revanth Reddy could not find a suitable candidate for ministerial post in Rangareddy district? 'If the Rythu Bandhu funds do not reach the accounts of the farmers of Rangareddy district within a week, I will go on an indefinite hunger strike,' said Karthik Reddy. He alleged that KCR's love for farmers was like his mother's love, while Revanth Reddy's love was like stepmother's love.

Telangana: KTR accepts Revanth Reddy's challenge for public debate on farmer welfare

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 5 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has formally accepted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's public challenge to debate on what each government has done for Telangana's farmers. In a sharp rebuttal delivered at Telangana Bhavan, KTR invited Revanth to fix the date, time, and place of the discussion, declaring his readiness to face the debate 'anywhere, anytime.' KTR, however, took a jibe at the Chief Minister's preparedness, stating, 'Revanth Reddy doesn't even have basic knowledge on agriculture. I am generously giving him 72 hours to prepare. Otherwise, he'll show up and talk about 'basins' and 'okra', making a mockery of himself and the office he holds.' He said even a bull next to a farmer could explain how agriculture thrived under the leadership of KCR. Accusing Revanth Reddy of acting as a covert ally of Chandrababu Naidu, KTR said Telangana's water resources were being diverted to Andhra Pradesh under the guise of projects like Banakacharla. 'Revanth is looting Telangana's water and funds, all to please his political mentor. This is not public governance, this is covert rule,' KTR charged. Drawing a sharp contrast between the BRS and the Congress administrations, KTR said that while BRS ushered in 'Raithu Rajyam' (Farmer's Rule), the Congress has brought back a version of 'Emergency Rule' reminiscent of Indira Gandhi's regime. 'From punishing farmers to pushing them into endless queues for fertilisers, Congress has only brought suffering,' he added. Highlighting the achievements of the BRS government under former Chief Minister KCR, KTR recounted landmark farmer welfare initiatives: the successful implementation of Rythu Bandhu with over Rs 73,000 crore directly deposited into farmers' accounts, free 24/7 electricity for agriculture, revival of over 46,000 tanks under Mission Kakatiya, and India's highest increase in paddy production. 'KCR turned farming into a celebration. Telangana today is the number one state in inland fisheries, generating Rs 30,000 crore in value. All this is the result of vision, not slogans,' KT Rama Rao stated. Taking direct aim at Congress, KTR stated that the Revanth Reddy government had failed to fulfil its major promises. 'Not a single woman is receiving the Rs 2,500 monthly promised by the Congress. Scooters, jobs, and unemployment allowance all turned out to be lies. Telangana's daughters and sons are waiting for answers,' the BRS Working President said. He further alleged that Congress has cheated farmers by reducing the promised Rs 50,000 crore farm loan waiver to just Rs 12,000 crore. 'The Revanth government owes every farmer Rs 19,000 under Rythu Bharosa. They have not paid even the crop insurance premiums for three months,' he said. KTR also ridiculed the Congress party's attempts to claim credit for schemes and appointments made during the BRS regime. 'Revanth is boasting about issuing appointment letters for jobs already filled during our tenure. Would he dare say the same in Ashok Nagar?' he challenged. In a scathing remark, KTR added, 'Congress talking about farmer welfare is like demons reciting the Vedas. And Revanth claiming Indiramma's legacy is laughable when all that's visible under his rule are dried-up borewells, burnt transformers, and endless queues for urea.' KTR extended an open invitation for the debate: 'You can choose the Assembly, Ambedkar statue, Kondareddypalle, Chintamadaka, or Kondangal. If none of these suit you, I'll be at Somajiguda Press Club at 11 AM on July 8, ready to expose the truth before the media.' He concluded with a strong message: 'During our rule, we never made noise even after transferring Rs 73,000 crore to farmers. Revanth celebrates after giving just one crop's worth of support. Tell the people, how much did you promise, and how much did you deliver? Farmers will ask. Telangana will ask.' (ANI)

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders have filed a complaint with the Banjara Hills police against the management of YouTube channel iDream Media, its anchor Soumya Reddy, and advocate Arun Kumar, accusing them of spreading false and defamatory content targeting party president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in connection with the ongoing phone tapping case. In their complaint, BRS leaders Chada Kishan Reddy, Vasudeva Reddy, Bommera Ramamurthy, Gandhi Naik and others alleged that Mr. Arun Kumar made unsubstantiated and misleading claims during an interview aired on the channel on June 25. Describing the interview as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of both Mr. Rao and the party, the complainants demanded that appropriate legal action be taken against those involved.

KTR accepts Revanth Reddy's ‘challenge' for debate on river water allocation, asks Telangana CM to decide venue in 72 hours

HYDERABAD Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K.T. Rama Rao, has accepted the 'challenge' thrown at the party (BRS) leadership by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at 'Samvidhan celebration' public meeting on Friday (July 4, 2025) for a debate on the issues pertaining to river water allocation and injustices to Telangana. 'Mr. Revanth Reddy can decide the venue of his choice for the debate at Kondareddypalle, Chintamadaka, Kodangal, Gajwel, Assembly or Ambedkar statue in the next 72 hours. Else, he could come to Press Club at 11 am on July 8 as I (KTR) would be waiting there for the debate', Mr. Rama Rao said addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Saturday (July 5, 2025). 'I prefer Mr. Revanth Reddy to come for the debate as it would make things clear once for all or he could send his senior colleague. They could make ample preparation in the next 72 hours as issues related to water sharing are difficult to understand for the Congress leaders, while the BRS leaders lived with it all along the Statehood moved. I would personally come for the debate as BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would be too big for Mr. Reddy's level', the BRS working president said. Every Telanganite was aware as to what was the status of the farm sector in Telangana till 2014 and how it had transformed during 2014-23. He stated that several novel initiatives including increase in the irrigation facilities, free power for farming round-the-clock and timely supply of all other inputs by the BRS administration had made farming a celebration in Telangana and led the State to become top paddy producer in the country, displacing Punjab. Introduction of investment/input support, life insurance cover to every landholder and 24-hour free power supply to farming were the hallmark of BRS rule, as such interventions were made for the first time anywhere in the world. The Chief Minister Mr. Revanth Reddy was aware of everything but not ready to accept the reality and facts, Mr. Rama Rao said. Stating that denial of water for irrigation and drinking needs and power supply to farm sector along with discrimination in allocation of funds and jobs had led to the birth of the ultimate phase of the Statehood movement along, the BRS leader pointed out several failures and betrayal of promises made to the farming and other dependent sectors made in the name of Rythu Declaration and others, in detail. He said that Mr. Revanth Reddy too was fighting for water and funds but the only difference was that he was allowing Andhra Pradesh to illegally divert Godavari water to the non-basin areas in violation of the rights of Telangana within the basin in the name of Polavaram-Banakacherla Link Project (PBLP) and sending funds to Delhi (Congress leadership).
