MACC officers acquitted in gang robbery case by Kuala Lumpur court
Judge Izralizam Sanusi ruled that the evidence did not support the allegations, leading to the officers' release without a defence being called.
The accused—Muhamad Haffiz Mohd Radzi, 35, Mohd Fahmee Mohamad Nor, 43, and former officer Azwan Asli, 40—were charged in December 2023 with robbing a man named Kun Gao of cash, a silver suitcase, and a black Louis Vuitton bag.
The alleged incident occurred at a condominium on Jalan Ampang in December 2021.
Judge Izralizam noted that the victim's police report indicated the officers' presence was linked to a money laundering investigation.
While the victim claimed he felt threatened, the court found no proof of wrongful restraint or use of a firearm.
'The actions were within the scope of MACC duties,' the judge stated.
The charge under Section 395 of the Penal Code carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment and whipping.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Aisyah Mohamed Zanyuin led the prosecution, while the defence team included lawyers Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad and Azizzul Shariman Mat Yusoff.
Seventeen witnesses testified during the trial, which began in November 2024. - Bernama

Two brothers arrested after 90km high-speed chase in Shah Alam
SHAH ALAM: Two brothers, aged 24 and 18, were arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase spanning 90 kilometres in Shah Alam. The pursuit lasted nearly an hour before authorities intercepted the suspects' vehicle. Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident began around 1.30 am when a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) spotted a suspicious blue Proton Wira in Section 7 Commercial Centre. Police attempted to stop the car using sirens and loudspeakers, but the driver accelerated instead. 'This led to a 90km chase around Shah Alam before six additional patrol vehicles were called in to help intercept the suspects' vehicle. After nearly an hour, police managed to stop the car in Section 9, in front of the Selangor Police Headquarters, and arrested both suspects,' Mohd Iqbal said in a statement. Upon inspection, officers found a bottle containing a green liquid suspected to be ketum juice under the front passenger seat. Checks revealed the older brother had five prior drug-related offences, while the younger suspect had no criminal record. The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952. The Shah Alam Magistrate's Court granted a three-day remand for both suspects. A 17-second video of the chase at Section 7 Commercial Centre had earlier gone viral on social media. 19yo claims trial to eight charges of raping own underage sisters in Miri
File photo for illustration purposes MIRI (Aug 5): A teenager pleaded not guilty in the Sessions' Court today to eight charges of raping two underage girls, who are also his biological sisters. The 19-year-old accused was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of not less than eight years and not more than 30 years, and a minimum of 10 strokes of the cane, upon conviction for each charge. According to the charge sheet, the accused was alleged to have committed incest with his two younger sisters, aged 13 and 15. All the offences were allegedly committed between March 2023 and June this year at the family's home here. After the accused entered his plea, Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Asymawi Ghazali requested a new date for case management and urged the court to deny bail, citing that the accused lives in the same house as the victims. Sessions Court Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman allowed the request and set Sept 18 for case management. The accused, who was unrepresented, was ordered to remain in remand at Miri Central Prison pending the next hearing.

Two women fined and jailed for prostitution activities in Sandakan

She paid the fine. Meanwhile, the Sessions Court sentenced a 50-year-old foreign woman, Lely Fiter, to three years in prison for acting as a middleperson to secure clients for Zuraini. She will be deported after serving her sentence. Both were arrested during a police raid on July 29 at an apartment in Batu 5, Sandakan. The duo charged RM150 per service, with RM100 going to Zuraini and RM50 to Lely for finding clients. Items seized included an opened condom packet, a used condom, used tissue, a mobile phone, and RM150 in cash. Zuraini admitted to committing the act due to financial hardship. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Azizi Hamil and ASP Zamri Zakaria.
