Kasada Seeks 2026 Hotel Deal in Morocco
The company expects to make its entry into North Africa's tourism industry in the first half of 2026.
The same source added that the company has already started to take action, opening of an office in Casablanca to explore opportunities present in Morocco.
Kasada's managing partner and co-Chief Executive Officer, Olivier Granet, acknowledged the group's priority is North Africa, especially Morocco, which is now the number one tourism destination on the African continent.
'For us to be the leading platform, we have to become pan African,' Granet told Bloomberg.
Morocco has been breaking records on the continent, with millions of arrivals secured in all seasons.
Morocco welcomed 17.4 million tourists, with arrivals representing a 20% increase compared to 2023. The data is unprecedented in Morocco and has exceeded the target set by the country for 2026.
The number of arrivals also made Morocco the most-visited country in all of Africa.
'Over the five years, Morocco has averaged USD 3.5 billion in FDI annually across all sectors,' UN Tourism said recently, noting that $2.2 billion was allocated to the sector between 2014 and 2023.
Reports also stressed how Morocco is outpacing Egypt to become a regional leader in the industry.
Bloomberg joined the chorus emphasizing Morocco's tourism appeal, recalling the country's assets, alongside the upcoming international competition it is hosting, like the AFCON in 2025 and the FIFA World Cup 2030.
David Damiba, Kasada's managing partner and co-chief executive officer, echoed Granet's remarks, stressing how Africa presents enormous opportunities.
'We think that there's scope to increase the scale of what we've built already by a factor of two to three times fairly easily in these markets while being concentrated to take advantage of our scale in core cities,' he said.
Beyond its interest in Morocco, Kasada is ambitious to grow its business and presence across luxury hospitality in different areas in sub-Saharan Africa, Bloomberg added. Tags: 2019 tourismAfrican tourists

His Majesty King Mohammed VI has led Morocco's democratic and economic development with wisdom, making the Kingdom "a leading country" on the African continent, according to Lord Henry Bellingham, former UK Foreign Office Minister for Africa. "It is fitting to pay tribute to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his leadership, which has enabled Morocco to achieve remarkable democratic progress and emerge as a leading country across Africa," he stated in an interview with MAP on the occasion of the celebration of the Throne Day. Lord Bellingham highlighted the promising evolution of UK-Morocco relations, bolstered in particular by the close ties between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Charles III. "In terms of trade, many opportunities have opened up between the UK and Morocco. This is largely due to the path laid out by HM King Mohammed VI," he added, noting that the two Kingdoms share many common features, including privileged relations with the world's major economies. Numerous sectors are open to strategic high-level partnership between the two nations, Lord Bellingham continued, underscoring the significance of the decision by Rabat and London to strengthen their bilateral ties. He also emphasized the cultural dimension of UK-Morocco relations, which adds further depth to the historic bonds that date back over 800 years. The former minister welcomed the recent decision by the United Kingdom to support the autonomy plan presented by Morocco to definitively resolve the regional conflict surrounding its territorial integrity. Support for the autonomy plan "is both an important and decisive decision," said Lord Bellingham, who also served as Minister of State at the Foreign Office responsible for Asia-Pacific. By viewing the autonomy plan as "the most credible, viable, and pragmatic basis" for resolving the Sahara issue, the UK is aligning itself with key allies that support Morocco's territorial integrity, including the United States, France, and Spain, he affirmed. "It is equally important to recall that several African countries have opened consulates in the cities of Laâyoune and Dakhla," Lord Bellingham observed. In his opinion, the opponents of Morocco's territorial integrity must face the facts and recognize the geopolitical shift in favor of the recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara. Lord Bellingham, a member of the UK House of Lords, also praised the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty the King, which aims to offer Sahel countries access to the Atlantic Ocean. This initiative will undoubtedly contribute to peace and stability in the region while paving the way for economic development and improved livelihoods, he said. ONDA Launches Automated Baggage Center at Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport
Marrakech – Morocco's Office National des Aéroports (ONDA) has inaugurated a new automated baggage handling center at Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport. The 'Fast Baggage Center by ONDA' is housed in a completely redesigned 15,200 m² logistics hangar aimed at managing increasing transit flows. The center represents an important technological advancement in the airport's infrastructure. It can now process up to 6,000 bags per hour, with an average handling time of just five minutes. 'This is a major qualitative leap in operational efficiency,' ONDA stated in a Tuesday communiqué. At the core of the system are two interconnected automated sorters that separately manage short and long-haul transit baggage. The center is equipped with latest-generation scanners and explosive detection systems that comply with international standards. The facility features centralized sorting, intelligent indexing stations, oversized baggage control, and an integrated monitoring system. This setup ensures secure transit while reducing energy consumption by 15%. The technological advancement will directly support Royal Air Maroc's expansion, particularly by facilitating large-scale transfer operations to and from Africa. ONDA considers this development part of a broader transformation aimed at positioning Casablanca as a global transit hub capable of handling growing traffic with 'rigor, fluidity, and reliability.' This comprehensive plan includes the construction of a new terminal at Mohammed V Airport, currently in its initial phase. The terminal project represents a MAD 15 billion ($1.5 billion) investment and will increase the airport's capacity by 20 million passengers annually. Once completed in 2029, the airport will accommodate up to 35 million travelers yearly, positioning it among Africa's largest and most strategically located airports. The new H-shaped terminal will feature direct access to the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed rail line, offering travelers quick connections to major Moroccan cities.
