Lane Johnson shows his softer side in an Eagles training camp interview
He just missed the Andy Reid era, but has since played for Doug Pederson and Nick Sirianni. He has earned two Super Bowl rings, and as it turns out, he's one of the most incredible offensive tackles we have seen. We knew when he was drafted he'd be good, but we honestly didn't think he'd be this good.
Johnson's Eagles story can't be told without mentioning his six Pro Bowl nods, his pair of First-Team All-Pro designations (2017, 2022), or his three nominations as a Second-Team All-Pro. His story also involves being a champion for mental health awareness.
Johnson simply doesn't give up sacks. It doesn't happen. If we didn't know any better, we'd be tempted to walk past him without making any contact, but beneath the scary persona lies a gentle giant. He recently let that side shine through during a camp interview with NFL Network.
He mentioned Fletcher Cox and Jason Peters, fellow Eagles legends who will one day be enshrined in Canton, Ohio. Lane has seen the ups and downs, with many wins and losses, but he has etched his claim for immortality. When his playing days are over, he'll be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Lane Johnson's legacy is that he's one of Jeff Stoutland's prized pupils. He's one of the valedictorians of Stoutland University. The Eagles win more often than not when he plays. They lose more often than not when he doesn't. Hopefully, this is an injury-free season. He's aged like a fine wine, and it was certainly great to see some of his fantastic personality.

Patriots to unveil Tom Brady statue this week. Here's what fans need to know

Sean McVay shares advice for Liam Coen as first-time head coach for Jaguars
McVay says Coen is "way ahead of the curve" compared to where he was at in 2017 Sean McVay and Liam Coen have a long coaching history together. Coen has had multiple coaching stints with the Rams, including one as the assistant wide receivers coach from 2018-2019, assistant quarterbacks coach in 2020, and then a return as the offensive coordinator in 2022 after a departure for Kentucky in the 2021 season. Coen finds himself in a new light, being hired as the head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the offseason. McVay and Coen have remained close since their time together on the Rams. McVay has been a shoulder that Coen can lean on for advice, especially given the success McVay's had with two Super Bowl appearances in just eight years with the team. 'Oh yeah, Liam and I talk a lot, and I think it's about leaning on the people around you and not feeling like you have all the answers," McVay said when asked about Coen on Saturday. "This is something McVay has been very vocal about his whole career, considering he was hired to right the ship in 2017 at just 30 years old, making him the youngest head coach of all time. Coen, a Warwick, RI, native, finds himself in a similar spot as McVay, being only 39 years old and a first-time head coach himself at the NFL level. McVay has more to say on Coen, reassuring the importance of having the right people around you. 'Make sure that you do a great job of being able to delegate to the great people that you've surrounded yourself with," McVay said of his advice for Coen. "Liam knows way more than I knew when I first got the job, so he's way ahead of the curve like all of these other guys that are getting their opportunities to go do their thing. So, they won't make the same mistakes I did.' That's some very high praise from someone who has had as much immediate success as McVay did in L.A. Coen will look to right the ship in Jacksonville after a 4-13 season that was filled with injuries and lacked star power throughout the roster in 2024. Being a first-year head coach is filled with new experiences, ups and downs, and adversity throughout the whole process, something Coen will have to navigate in his first year at the helm.

George Pickens takes another shot at Steelers, ESPN analyst fires back
The breakup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and wide receiver George Pickens wasn't pretty. Pittsburgh gave Pickens several seasons to show he could mature and develop as a player and person but when that didn't happen, the team traded Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Since being traded, Pickens has wasted no time in taking shots at his old team. His latest diatribe was about the Cowboys and how they are known for the Super Bowl as opposed to the Steelers. A misguided take to be sure, and one that ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith couldn't let go without correcting Pickens on his mistake. Smith went after Pickens and the Cowboys, shooting down he notion that the Cowboys are somehow more synonymous with the Super Bowl than the Steelers, given that the Steelers have more Super Bowl wins. If Pickens goes out and has a huge season and the Cowboys are successful, this trade is going to look awful for the Steelers. Pittsburgh is banking on Pickens being more of the same as he has been in Pittsburgh and the team is better without him.
