Michelle Obama Missing Dinner With Barack Reignites Divorce Rumors

Barack Obama enjoyed a wholesome outing with his daughters in Los Angeles, but Michelle's notable absence seemingly reignited divorce rumors. The power couple has been under the microscope lately, with Michelle Obama's hiatus from the public eye and major political events sparking rumors about problems in their marriage.
Despite the former First Lady's efforts to squash tittle-tattle, the discussion remains afloat. She has outwardly criticized said rumors and even clarified her decisions to step away from the spotlight, but it appeared to be in vain.
Page Six shared Backgrid's photos of Barack Obama enjoying a dinner with his girls, with Michelle notably missing from the family hangout amid her attempts to shut down divorce rumors.
Michelle Obama previously explained her decision to take a break from the spotlight on Sophia Bush's 'Work in Progress' podcast while dismissing rumors and speculation about problems in her marriage. But her opting to sit out the family dinner on Friday, which seemed the ideal way to kick off the weekend, reignited the talks she willfully tried to silence.
The snaps showed the former president of the United States leaning into a more casual look in a bomber jacket, black shirt, and grey trousers for the outing. On Friday, Obama and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, were spotted heading to dinner at a popular sushi restaurant, Hamasaku, in West Los Angeles.
However, his wife remained noticeably absent from the get-together for unclear reasons. Michelle previously missed other political events, such as President Donald Trump's inauguration and former President Jimmy Carter's funeral
Earlier this month, Michelle Obama brushed off divorce rumors on Bush's podcast as she justified her absence from the spotlight. 'I chose to do what was best for me,' said the mom of two, explaining she now has full control of her social life and calendar.
Moreover, Michelle addressed how saying 'no' or making choices for herself raised questions about problems in her and Barack Obama's marriage. She commented that people could not 'fathom that I was making a choice for myself, that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing.'

Michelle Obama frets young women are not allowed the unearned confidence men have

Former First Lady Michelle Obama is tired of young women not being able to be as sure of themselves as young men are. During Wednesday's episode of her 'IMO' podcast, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, Obama spoke to 'Seinfeld' and 'Veep' star Julia Louis-Dreyfus about how she wishes younger women had the unbridled confidence that young men in their 30s have — arguing that when women finally start feeling good about themselves, they're older and less visible to society. 'We're always hedging, you know, because in the back of our minds, we weren't raised with the certainty of maleness that, you know – kind of the confidence that young men in their 30s have, which they haven't earned. They just have it,' she told the actress. 'You know, we don't start feeling that and owning that until our 50s and 60s, at a time when we start to be treated as invisible in society,' Obama added. The topic came up with Louis-Dreyfus mentioning how she has become friends with 87-year-old actress Jane Fonda in recent years and has marveled at her 'extraordinary' life that isn't in the spotlight as much anymore. 4 Obama spoke to Louis-Dreyfus on her 'IMO' podcast, which the former First Lady co-hosts with her brother. IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson 'And I was so struck by the breadth of her life, the profundity – she's done so many different things. And it got me thinking about, wow, there's so many women out there that are older – I mean, at the time she was 85, I believe – that are older that have had these extraordinary lives, and we're not hearing from them.' Obama suggested this was a societal issue, replying, 'We've talked about this a lot, how women, as we age, we get pushed out of the picture.' 'Yeah, it's incredible,' the 'Seinfeld' actress replied. 4 The two discussed how they wish younger women had the confidence that young men have. IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson Obama went on to say, now that she's older, she finally feels sure of herself and confident in her wisdom — a mindset she said she couldn't experience when she was younger. 'Now that I'm 60… this is really the first time in my life where I feel completely me, and I can absolutely embrace my wisdom,' she said. 'I mean, because I think we, as women, we spend most of our lives saying, 'Well, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.' We qualify everything,' 'We apologize,' Louis-Dreyfus interjected. 4 Michelle Obama speaks onstage at IMO Live: Michelle Obama, Craig Robinson & Dr. Laurie Santos during the 2025 SXSW Conference and Festival at Austin Convention Center on March 13, 2025 in Austin, Texas. Since the start of her podcast with Robinson, Obama has remained largely apolitical, choosing to focus more on lifestyle topics and questions about family and personal relationships. In a May episode with pop star Beyoncé Knowles' mom, Tina Knowles, Obama urged parents to resist the urge to be friends with their kids as they're growing up. 4 Julia Louis-Dreyfus attends as Disney & The Cinema Society Host 'Thunderbolts' New York Screening at iPic Theater on April 30, 2025 in New York City. Getty Images 'And so many people are trying to be their kids' friends, and they think that that makes you closer,' Obama said. 'But let me tell you, I was not my children's friend. I love them deeply. There was respect. And, you know, for those of you trying to be friends with your kids, our kids love us just as much as adults. In fact, the relationship, I think, is even closer because now they've earned my friendship. Now we can be friends. Now, maybe you know something.' In a late June episode with social psychologist and author Jonathan Haidt, Obama stressed the need for parents to limit their kids' time on smartphones and social media. 'The bottom line is that we've got to get tougher. We've got to get more resilient for our kids. Because I know time and time again that a lot of parents do what's easy for them, you know, and not necessarily what's best for the kid,' she continued.

Angelina Jolie Accused Of 'Haunting' Ex Brad Pitt After Coincidentally Showing Up In NY During 'F1' Premiere

Angelina Jolie has been accused of "haunting" her ex-husband Brad Pitt after she showed up in New York, where the actor was promoting his new movie "F1." The former couple, who were involved in a contentious legal battle over their Chateau Miraval winery, reportedly came close to running into each other during Pitt's press tour. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt is said to have found a "perfect" match in girlfriend Ines de Ramon and reportedly "loved" having her around during the premiere. Jolie and her ex-husband, Pitt, risked an awkward encounter in New York this week after finalizing their divorce last year. Pitt was in the Big Apple to promote his new movie "F1," and stayed at the Whitby Hotel in midtown with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon. Surprisingly, Jolie also showed up in the city, although the exact reason for her trip to New York remains unclear. "Angelina said she was going to move to New York two years ago, but didn't quite get the glowing reception she thought she deserved, so she went back to LA," a Hollywood insider told News Nation. "It's just insane that Angelina would show up in the city the same week of Brad's premiere," the insider added. "She just can't stand for him to get any good press. It's like she's haunting him." While Jolie's reason for popping up in New York during Pitt's film premiere remains unknown, Page Six revealed that a source spotted her alone at Fairway Market on 74th Street in the Upper West Side, where she was shopping for groceries for her kids. Pitt and his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, were seemingly inseparable during the New York premiere of the movie. According to People Magazine, a source shared that the "Fight Club" actor "loved having" her around as the pair made a dashing appearance on the red carpet of the event. "She's no drama, very supportive, and they're doing really well," the insider said, adding that the 32-year-old jewelry designer is "perfect for him." The 61-year-old actor wore a navy blue double-breasted suit over a white dress shirt to the event, while de Ramon turned heads in a white two-piece set with a halter neckline that went sheer at the midriff and a long skirt with feathered detailing. The couple, who were first linked in November 2022, made their red carpet debut at his Venice Film Festival premiere of "Wolfs" last September. Pitt and Jolie's recent New York outing comes after a source slammed rumors that the "Troy" actor plans to "cut off" his sons, Pax and Maddox. The source accused the "Maleficent" star of "leaking" stories about the actor to "damage him." "It's all bulls-it, and to be expected. Anytime Brad has a major project out or is in the news for something good, all these stories get 'leaked' that try to damage him. It's insane. We all know where these stories come from. Angelina can't stand it when Brad does well," the insider said. A Daily Mail report had claimed Pitt considered his relationship with Pax "unfixable" and that he was ready to cut ties with him and Maddox. However, a News Nation source countered the report, saying, "He will never cut them off. If anyone blew their legacy, it would be Angelina. Chateau Miraval was supposed to be for the kids — their legacy. Angelina sold her half for cash. Brad still has his half, and it is to be left for the children. All of them." During a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pitt shared that he has gotten to the age where he knows what's important in life, as he has had to learn a lot from his past "mistakes." "No matter the mistake, you know, you just learn from and you move on, and it'll lead to the next success," he said. Pitt continued, "Really, I think, you get to my age, and you really see how important it is to surround yourself with, you know, the people you love, the people who will love you back, and friends and family, and that's it. And from there, we get to go make things. So, I think it's a pretty simple, I think, equation." Pitt's comments on learning from past "mistakes" come less than a year after he finalized his divorce from Jolie following a lengthy 8-year battle since splitting in 2016. The former couple has also been embroiled in a messy legal battle over their winery, as Pitt accused Jolie of trying to sabotage him after she sold her stakes in their winery, Chateau Miraval, to a Russian oligarch without informing him first. However, Pitt recently shared that he doesn't think finalizing their divorce was a milestone for him. "I don't think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally," he told GQ Magazine.

Brad Pitt Opens Up About His First AA Meeting After Angelina Jolie Divorce: 'I Needed Rebooting'

Brad Pitt has opened up about his journey to sobriety, explaining how his first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting led him to work on his drinking problem. The "Fight Club" star's drinking problem is understood to have contributed to his split from Angelina Jolie, following a 2016 airplane incident where he allegedly hit her and one of their child. Brad Pitt has since moved on with girlfriend Ines de Ramon, and has also finalized his divorce from Angelina Jolie. Pitt recounted what transpired during his first AA meeting as he began his journey to sobriety. During Monday's episode of the "Armchair Expert" podcast, the 61-year-old actor detailed how it was an "amazing" experience that got him "pretty much on [his] knees" and needing "to wake the f-ck up in some areas." "I was trying anything and everything, anything anyone threw at me. … It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting," Pitt explained, per Page Six. Alcoholics Anonymous is usually held in a safe and private space where members sit in a circle and take turns to pour their hearts out as part of efforts to quit drinking. While on the podcast show, Pitt admitted that it felt daunting as his turn to speak during the AA meeting drew near, but he felt inspired after watching "everyone [being] so open." "It gives you permission to go, 'OK, I'm gonna step out on this edge and see what happens.' And then I really grew to love it," he explained. Pitt has previously hinted at his struggles with alcohol, telling the New York Times that he went for a year and a half following his 2016 divorce from Angelina Jolie. Elsewhere during their conversation on the "Armchair Expert" podcast, host Dax Shepard praised the "F1" star for being "so f-cking honest" at the time. This prompted Pitt to return the favor, noting that witnessing Shepard's own honesty "meant a lot to" him. "Dax was usually near the end because he's been there awhile," Pitt said, comparing the former "Punk'd" prankster to "an elder statesman" who injected "humor" into his wisdom. He called the AA meeting "a really special experience coming from the Ozarks," where he grew up hearing men insist that "everything is great." "I just thought it was incredible, men sharing their experiences with their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humor with it," he added. Pitt's struggle with the bottle came after a "difficult" split from ex-wife Angelina Jolie following a 2016 private jet incident where he allegedly assaulted her. In court documents filed at the time, the "Maleficent" actress alleged that the actor "choked one of the children and struck another in the face" and "grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her," per Page Six. "At one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children," the documents also read, adding that Jolie tried to de-escalate the situation and "grabbed" him from behind to stop him. "To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backward into the airplane's seats, injuring Jolie's back and elbow," the documents allege. "The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying," the statement claimed. Pitt and Jolie were both declared legally single in 2019 and settled their divorce last year 2024. During the premiere of his "F1" movie in Mexico City, Pitt shared a thoughtful message about the importance of learning from one's mistakes. "No matter the mistake, you know, you just learn from [it] and move on," the actor told Entertainment Tonight. "It'll lead to the next success." Pitt had issued the response after he was asked about what had helped him "feel grounded" amid the challenges and achievements in his life. And while he gave no details about some of the mistakes he has made in his own life, the actor hinted that family was also part of what has helped him navigate these moments. "At my age, I see how important it is to surround yourself with the people you know, the people you love, the people that love you back," the 61-year-old shared further. "Friends, family, and that's it. From there, we get to go make things. It's a pretty simple, I think, equation." Pitt has since moved on with girlfriend Ines de Ramon, who was by his side last week as he attended the New York City premiere of his new movie "F1." Coincidentally, Jolie was also in New York during that period, prompting a source to accuse her of "haunting" her ex-husband. It's like she's haunting him."
