"He's going to shoot somebody": Asmongold calls out Twitch over HasanAbi's gun threat
The Twitch streamer Hasan Piker aka HasanAbi has once again been scrutinized for a controversial livestream moment. A chat comment had threatened him, and the streamer reacted by swinging what he later said was a toy gun on-camera.
The incident has compounded the debate about Twitch's policies for moderation, especially for popular streamers, and has also drawn some harsh criticism from another creator, Asmongold.
From Chat Message to On-Stream Confrontation
The drama began during one of HasanAbi's livestreams, when a viewer purportedly wrote that Hasan and New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani should be 'hanged for treason.' In response, Hasan paused the stream and put up what he thought was the chatter's YouTube channel, aggressively calling them out in front of thousands of live viewers.
Stoking the moment's heat, Hasan then pulled out a prop gun and aimed it at the screen, taunting the firing and boldly exclaiming, "Wait, this is the guy?... F*k are you going to do, bro? Write a petition? Let's do a crusade, he says. Let's do a fking crusade, he says. Let's hang Hasan and Mamdani for treason, he says. The fk are you going to do?... You skinny b*ch."

Top streamer Asmongold didn't mince words in his response to the incident.

After seeing a clip from Hasan's stream, he was incredulous at the spectacle.
"That's crazy! To pull out a gun and be waving it around on stream. Wow! Wow, that's a lot! Do you think Twitch will do anything? Will Twitch do anything of Hasan going over and then talking about shooting somebody or implying that he's going to shoot somebody, is Twitch going to do anything? I really wonder, I've got a feeling... everybody know's the answer to that."
Asmongold's comments struck a nerve amid Twitch's community in general about whether the platform does indeed give its top streamers special treatment.
Twitch's Policy Enforcement in the Spotlight
Twitch's guidelines prohibit real guns on stream, but permit toy or prop guns in some situations. Enforcement has been notoriously uneven, particularly in high-profile instances. HasanAbi has not yet received any public discipline for this.
Should Hasan Be Banned?
This is not even close to being Hasan's first encounter with controversy. Famous for his heated commentary and uncensored style, the ex-Young Turks host has a CV full of divisive moments and sporadic platform suspensions.
Whether Twitch will act this time is yet to be seen, but the backlash, at least online, is already underway.
