Metro... In Dino Box Office Day 6: Anurag Basu's Film Inches Closer To Rs 25-Crore Mark

Dino boasts an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta. Metro… In Dino, the Anurag Basu directorial musical romantic drama, has maintained a steady grip at the box office. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta. On its first Wednesday, the film minted Rs 2.25 crore Nett in India, according to which takes its total 6-Day collection to Rs 24.50 crore. Looking at the numbers, Metro… In Dino will cross the Rs 25 crore mark at the domestic box office after its first week. The figure may appear less when compared to some of the most recent Bollywood blockbusters, yet it is a significant achievement for a film with no prior buzz and stiff competition from Scarlett Johansson's Jurassic World: Rebirth. The film grossed Rs 3.5 crore on its opening day and ended its debut weekend at Rs 16.17 crore, indicating a solid start. With three big releases coming this weekend including Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey's Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, RajKummar Rao's Maalik and David Corenswet's much-anticipated Superman, the collection of Metro… In Dino might get hampered. Metro… In Dino follows the interconnected stories of several couples navigating modern love and relationships in the backdrop of metro cities. The film explores the complexities, shifts and unexpected choices that define love in contemporary times. It is a spiritual sequel to the 2007 romantic drama, Life…In A Metro. While Konkona is the only actor to have been cast since 2007, Pankaj plays a character similar to Irrfan Khan's Monty opposite her. He is presented as a quirky, emotionally complex individual negotiating the complexities of modern relationships. The film is receiving praise for its heartfelt storytelling, ensemble cast performances and Pritam's evocative songs such as Zamaana Lage, Aur Mohabbat Kitni Karoon, Qayde Se, Dil Ka Kya and others. Anurag Basu's next directorial venture is an untitled musical romantic drama featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela in the lead roles. Backed by T-series, the film will be hitting the big screens on Diwali this year. It will face a big competition with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's horror-comedy, Thama. Street plays, songs and dance: Pune to witness protest against river rejuvenation projects

A youth protest organised by the group Pune River Revival against the environmental clearance granted to for the Pavana river rejuvenation project will take place at Akurdi Sunday evening. Messages along the theme 'calling all youth' have been circulating on social media for the protest scheduled to take place between 6 pm and 8 pm. 'The event will be organised in the format of a street play, except it will involve multiple art forms,' said Prajakta Mahajan, a leader of the protest. Despite the threat of rain, the organisers are reaching out to several colleges and youth forums to raise awareness about the event and the Pavana river rejuvenation, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)'s Rs 1,400-crore project, which got environmental clearance on July 7. Mahajan said the aim is to harness the creativity of young people to convey a message to policymakers, especially the PCMC, about the objections of people to the project aimed at rejuvenating the Pavana river, which flows for 24.40 km through Pimpri-Chinchwad. 'We are inviting young people to just come out and perform. They can sing, dance, act or paint on themes, such as 'save trees', 'save rivers', and the human connection to nature. It is essential that young people express themselves and raise their voices for the Mula, Mutha, Pavana and Indrayani rivers and let the world hear the call for river revival,' said Mahajan. 'Counting both banks, 90 km will be 'developed'. The PCMC will destroy the riparian zones and build embankments. While we have lost a lot of biodiversity in Pune, the Pavana and Indrayani riverbanks are even richer in terms of biodiversity. We are talking about birds, snakes, turtles, and other life forms apart from trees that will be cut down. It is even more important that citizens come together to protest,' said Mahajan. 'The Pune River Revival wants to have more awareness generation events that connect people to the river. We are keen on involving the youth in these events in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. They must understand the importance of saving rivers, trees and entire riparian zones,' said Mahajan. Dipanita Nath is interested in the climate crisis and sustainability.
