Port Carbon woman wanted for eluding police
An arrest warrant was issued for Autumn Bahena, 45, who was charged Feb. 27 with felony eluding police and summary charges of duties at a stop sign, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and reckless driving in connection with the Feb. 26 incident.
A city police officer noticed a Chevrolet Cruz sedan weaving in and out of traffic, almost colliding with vehicles stopped at the traffic light at North Centre Street and Laurel Boulevard.
Bahena was playing loud music, dancing and screaming out the window while driving, police said. The officer followed Bahena and used her warning lights, attempting to pull her over on North Centre Street, but to no avail, police said.
With lights and siren activated, the officer continued to pursue the Chevy Cruz.
The Cruz continued to swerve in and out of traffic, accelerating to more than 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. The car traveled through city streets, nearly hitting vehicles, police said. Additional officers were requested to aid in the pursuit.
Entering Route 61 South, the driver continued to drive erratically and accelerated to more than 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, police said.
The vehicle eventually stopped at 214 Canal St., Port Carbon. Police ordered Bahena — and then removed her — from the vehicle. She admitted to taking Prozac, which was prescribed, police said.
A blood test was done at a local hospital for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Sicko scammers target family of missing Texas flood kids — demanding money to return them: ‘Absolutely heartbreaking'
Trolls and scammers are targeting the kin of those missing in the Texas floods — with a few sickos even claiming that they have some of the unaccounted-for kids and will return them for a fee, officials said Monday. 'We're dealing with scammers,' said Dalton Rice, the city manager of Kerrville in Kerr County — the hardest-hit region — at a Monday press conference. 'Victims' families are being reached out to saying that they have their kids, 'Pay me money.' It's heartbreaking. It's absolutely heartbreaking.' Photo byAuthorities also are grappling with fake calls to the five hotlines set up for the missing, with officials saying the scammers make it hard to determine the exact number of people unaccounted for. 'We don't have a solid number [of missing people] that we're willing to talk about right now,' Rice said. 'We do know that it is a lot. … We also are getting a lot of fake calls.' Advertisement Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said 'messed-up' trolls are even harassing the families of the missing girls from Camp Mystic. He said a family he spoken was subjected to online abuse after sharing a public post about their missing daughter. 'Look, there are a lot of people that are messed up. And my call for everyone: There's a time to have political fights, there's a time to disagree. This is not that time,' Cruz said at the briefing. 5 A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper and Kerr County Sheriff's deputy assisting a rescue diver during a search for flood victims. Marjorie Taylor Greene, that government weather manipulation was responsible for last week's Texas floods. There is 'zero evidence' to support such wild claims, Cruz said, in response to Greene's proposed bill aiming to ban supposed atmospheric interventions. 'The Internet can be a strange place. People can come up with all sorts of crazy theories,' he said.

Ted Cruz cuts short European vacation due to deadly Texas flooding
Sen. Ted Cruz was exploring ancient Greek ruins with his family when deadly flash flooding was ravaging central Texas. The Texas Republican was touring the Parthenon with his wife Heidi just over 24 hours after the Guadeloupe River overflowed its banks early on the morning of July 4, a witness told The Daily Beast. 'The Senator was already in the middle of preplanned family vacation travel overseas when the flooding occurred on July 4,' Cruz's office told The Post. 3 Ted Cruz flew back from Athens on Sunday morning after the deadly flash floods struck Texas, according to his office. Fox News 3 Rescue workers are seen on land and on a boat as they search for missing people near Camp Mystic along the Guadalupe River after a flash flood swept through the area Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Hunt, Texas. AP 'Within hours, he spoke by phone with Governor [Greg] Abbott, Lt. Governor [Dan] Patrick, Texas Emergency Management Director Nim Kidd, and President Trump, working to ensure that the maximum federal assets were available for search and rescue.' Cruz, 54, flew back from 'Athens on Sunday morning and was back in Texas that night,' his office added. The unidentified witness told The Daily Beast that Cruz 'was with his family and a lone security guard' at the world-famous site. 'As he walked past us, I simply said, '20 kids dead in Texas and you take a vacation?' 'He sort of grunted and walked on. His wife shot me a dirty look. Then they continued on with their tour guide.' Cruz spokesperson, Macarena Martinez, blasted the Daily Beast story as 'A bulls— piece published by a bulls— rag outlet with no credibility, and with no regard for the tragedy in Texas. 'The Senator is on the ground in Texas and arrived as fast as humanly possible.' At least 95 people have been killed by the flooding and at least 41 are believed to be missing. 3 Items lie scattered inside a cabin at Camp Mystic after deadly flooding in Kerr County, Texas, U.S., July 5, 2025.
