This milestone builds on six years of established operations in Malaysia by supporting the group's long-term strategy to expand its capabilities across Southeast Asia.
The newly launched Kuala Lumpur office features a modern and spacious environment designed to support a growing team of cybersecurity experts. It includes infrastructure upgrades to support regional delivery, technical collaboration and talent development.
'This expansion allows us to build greater delivery capacity, deepen client engagement and respond more quickly to emerging threats in the region,' revealed ABP Group's group CEO Sun Yi.
'As demand for cybersecurity solutions increases, our presence in Malaysia ensures we remain close to our clients and equipped to support their needs.'
The Malaysian expansion complements ABP Group's regional footprint with the new office serving as a base for project execution, technical support and training initiatives.
Malaysia plays a central role in ABP Group's broader regional roadmap for Southeast Asia. ABP Group's continued investment reflects a deep belief in Malaysia's emergence as a cybersecurity leader for the region.
'This expansion brings us closer to a more unified cybersecurity ecosystem across Southeast Asia starting with Singapore and Malaysia while working in sync through shared infrastructure, shared talent and a common standard of resilience,' envisages Sun.
As it is, cybersecurity risks in Southeast Asia have intensified as digital adoption accelerates. According to Kaspersky Cybersecurity Report for Malaysia (1H 2024), Malaysia recorded 19.62 million web-based attacks in 1H 2024, the highest in the region.
ABP Group's capability is delivered through three specialised business units to offer end-to-end cybersecurity coverage across Southeast Asia.
Its first pillar, Sunnic, leads technology innovation and research and development (R&D) while ABP Cyber provides tailored cybersecurity solutions and ABP Securite drives value-added distribution through its growing partner ecosystem. These units work together to deliver regional impact with local precision.
The KL Eco City office will serve as ABP Group's hub for client engagement, technical collaboration and local talent development.
'This is more than a physical expansion. It is about reinforcing the infrastructure needed to deliver cybersecurity at scale,' justified Sun.
'As Malaysia moves deeper into a digital-first future, the need for trusted cybersecurity partners will only grow. ABP Group sees this as a long game, one that demands not just technical capability but long-term thinking, shared responsibility and local leadership.' – July 10, 2025

Anwar Invites Trump to Asean, East Asia Summits in KL in October
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended an official invitation to United States (US) President Donald Trump to attend the Asean–US Summit and the East Asia Summit, both scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur this October. In a Facebook post following his meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Anwar said the high-level engagement reflected a shared commitment to elevate Malaysia–US relations to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He said the meeting opened avenues for enhanced cooperation in several key sectors, including digital investment, artificial intelligence, defence and education. 'We also exchanged views on pressing regional issues, including the situations in Palestine, Ukraine and Myanmar,' he said. Anwar also raised Malaysia's concerns over Washington's planned 25% import tariff on Malaysian goods, announced by Trump earlier this week. 'Malaysia views such unilateral actions as disruptive to the flow of free trade and potentially harmful to regional economic growth, especially for trading nations like Malaysia,' he said. 'Negotiations must remain open to ensure trade outcomes that are fair, balanced, and do not disadvantage developing countries.' Despite trade tensions, Anwar expressed confidence that close cooperation with the US would not only strengthen bilateral ties, but also serve as a catalyst for stability, prosperity and peace across the Indo-Pacific region. Rubio's visit marks his first to Asia as Secretary of State. The 25% tariff on Malaysian imports is scheduled to take effect on Aug 1, following a 90-day negotiation window that began in April.

OPR cut benefits MSMEs, says KUSKOP minister
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) has expressed confidence that Bank Negara Malaysia's (BNM) decision to lower the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) will benefit micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick stated that the 25-basis-point reduction to 2.75 per cent will likely ease financial pressures on businesses. Speaking after officiating Wisma Co-Opbank Pertama (CBP), Ewon highlighted that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) also adjusted the OPR corridor ceiling and floor rates to 3 per cent and 2.5 per cent respectively. The OPR serves as a benchmark for interbank lending and influences consumer loan rates, meaning lower borrowing costs could spur business expansion. Ewon also addressed the upcoming 25 per cent import tariff by the US on Malaysian goods, effective August 1. He expressed hope that ongoing negotiations between both governments would mitigate adverse effects on MSMEs. 'Discussions regarding the tariffs, still under negotiation, along with domestic initiatives, should continue supporting our entrepreneurs,' he said. – Bernama
