Daniel is an experienced journalist who has worked for news websites on both sides of the Atlantic. Back in the furthest reaches of time somewhere near Watford he fancied himself as an astrophysicist but proved to be hopeless. So he put down the telescope and picked up a pen instead.
Daniel was once the author of the Weird Science Blog - one of the top blogs in this media group - and is delighted to get back in the saddle.
He said: 'It's been great to dust off the old white lab coat and bring Weird Science back but this time in a far better, more dynamic fashion with The Weird Science Drop.
'The newsletter will hunt out the choicest morsels of science goodness, where everything from the world 's unluckiest scientist who inadvertently tried to end the planet twice to research showing monkeys are the world's best yodellers is put under the microscope.

Daniel portrayed DS Gavin Troy in the popular ITV series alongside John Nettles, who took on the role of lead detective Tom Barnaby. The actor is now preparing to step into the shoes of DCI Tom Barnaby for a fresh stage adaptation of The Killings at Badger's Drift. Speaking about his upcoming role, Daniel described it as "it's a massive promotion" whilst acknowledging he has "big shoes to fill". In conversation with the Northern Echo regarding his new part and the guidance John Nettles offered him, the actor revealed: "Barnaby and Troy had an almost father/son, mentor/pupil relationship, and that is very much like my relationship with John," reports the Express. "When he learned that I was taking on the role in the play, he said, 'Well, he's learned at the feet of the master.'" He continued by explaining that John had advised him to "be true to himself," which is precisely how he's approached tackling the character of Tom Barnaby. Daniel and John worked together from the pilot episode in 1996 right through to 2003, when Daniel chose to depart the series. "I spent all those years standing next to him, watching and listening, so hopefully I have absorbed a bit of his magic," he reflected. "It's a bit daunting, because his are big shoes to fill, but I'm really excited about doing it." The Killings at Badger's Drift marked Caroline Graham's debut novel and served as the foundation for the inaugural Midsomer Murders episode. The stage production delves into the world of DCI Tom Barnaby and DS Gavin Troy as they unravel the mysterious demise of the much-adored Emily Simpson in Badger's Drift. The play's blurb entices audiences with: "A night of murder and mystery, full of theatricality and intrigue, with the central partnership of Barnaby and Troy, a whole host of English eccentrics and this real dark undercurrent of secrets and lies." When Daniel's character exited the series, he wasn't directly replaced. Instead, his departure was scripted out, paving the way for a succession of sergeants before Neil Dudgeon stepped in to fill John Nettles' shoes as DCI John Barnaby in 2011.

Gogglebox star to make first TV return since 'devastating' divorce on huge dating show
Gogglebox star Daniel Lustig-Webb is set to appear on Channel 4's First Dates - marking his first TV appearance since his 'devastating' divorce from co-star Stephen Webb Channel 4's First Dates has seen its fair share of reality stars enter the doors of its restaurants over the years, from Michael Fabricant to Lauren Simon. However, now one particular Gogglebox star is set to make his debut on the show - marking his first TV appearance since becoming single. Former Gogglebox star Daniel Lustig-Webb is set to appear on Channel 4's First Dates - with the ex reality star featured in the show's opening credits this series. Daniel, 50, was married to his Gogglebox co-star Stephen Lustig-Webb for six years until their divorce in April last year. Opening up about the split, Daniel told the Suddenly Single podcast that it was "devastating" and "traumatic", while the Channel 4 star recently told The Mirror that his love life was "complicated" with him still living with Stephen. 'If I'm going on a date, I'm a bit sheepish about it. I'll say I'm going to meet a friend but Stephen can just read me. He'll say, 'Don't wear that.' I can't bring anyone to the house so it's a little bit different – but we make it work.' Now, Stephen will be getting back out onto the dating scene by appearing on Channel 4's First Dates. Hosted by Fred Sirieix, the long-running series tends to see ordinary people head on blind dates at a restaurant run by the French maître d'hôtel. The Mirror understands that Daniel will be appearing in a future series of the show. Stephen teased his upcoming First Dating appearance in a chat with The Mirror earlier this year. He said: "I did do something to do with dating that's coming out next year, but I can't talk about that." He's following in the footsteps of his ex Stephen, who appeared on the last series of Celebs Go Dating. The hairdresser took part in the show with Love Island's Chris Taylor, Corrie star Helen Flanagan, MAFS star Ella Morgan, singer Jamelia, influencer Lauryn Goodman and Made In Chelsea's Tristan Phipps. Speaking about filming the show last year, Stephen revealed that he was called out by experts Paul Carrick Brunson, Anna Williamson and Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn over his behaviour."I did get called out on a bad habit," he told The Mirror in an exclusive chat. "I was asked to look at [my behaviour] in a different way, still do it, but tweak it."
