With royal backing, seventeen future leaders embark on life-changing global paths
Seventeen of Bahrain's brightest students are preparing to begin a new chapter of academic life abroad, following an orientation hosted by the Crown Prince's International Scholarship Program (CPISP) for its 2025 recipients.
Held for the selected students and their parents, the session detailed the programme's academic requirements, cultural expectations, and support systems in place throughout their studies. The event served as a formal send-off, marking the transition from homegrown excellence to international opportunity.
Royal commitment
The CPISP team highlighted the unwavering support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in advancing the education of Bahraini youth. They reaffirmed his dedication to investing in students by facilitating access to the world's top institutions.
In keeping with that vision, the programme offers recipients the freedom to pursue their desired academic fields and supports them through undergraduate, postgraduate, and even doctoral studies.
Diverse destinations
Among the 2025 cohort, three students - Haydi Mohammed Othman Al Khidir, Mariam Ahmed Ragab Ebrahim Ahmed, and Mariam Ali Ahmed Habib Abbas - will begin their journey in the United Kingdom, enrolling in A-level boarding schools.
Another group - Hussain Ahmed Mansoor Shaban, Hussain Salman Abdulla Al Nashaba, and Mohamed Abdulmajeed A. Jalil Dailami - will attend preparatory schools in the United States.
Eight other scholars will be heading directly to universities in the UK, while three will pursue degrees in Ireland. A final trio - Anas Eyad Mohamed Saleh Rafei, Nasser Eyad Deeb Hasan Obaid, and Sh. Noor bint Khalifa bin Duaij Al Khalifa - will begin undergraduate programmes in the United States.
During the meeting, the CPISP team congratulated the students and wished them success as they take their first steps into global academia. The programme, they said, remains committed to creating world-class opportunities for Bahrain's youth through structured, long-term academic support.
The 2025 cohort's departure signals not only personal milestones for the students but also a broader national investment in future leadership and international representation.

Israeli negotiators due in Qatar for Gaza truce talks

TDT | Manama An Israeli delegation was expected in Doha on Sunday for talks on a Gaza truce and hostage release deal, ahead of a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House. Netanyahu had earlier announced he was sending a team to Qatar, a key mediator in the conflict, though he said that Hamas's response to a draft US-backed ceasefire deal included some "unacceptable" demands. Faced with mounting calls to end the war that is nearing its 22nd month, Netanyahu is due to meet on Monday with US President Donald Trump, who has been making a renewed push to end the fighting. On Saturday, protesters gathered in Israel's coastal hub of Tel Aviv for a weekly rally demanding the return of hostages still in the Gaza Strip since Hamas's October 7, 2023 attack that triggered the war. Macabit Mayer, the aunt of captives Gali and Ziv Berman, called for a deal "that saves everyone". Hamas said Friday it was ready "to engage immediately and seriously" in negotiations. A statement from Netanyahu's office said that "the changes that Hamas is seeking to make in the Qatari proposal... are unacceptable to Israel", while also sending negotiators to discuss "the Qatari proposal that Israel has agreed to". On the ground, Gaza's civil defence agency said 14 people were killed by Israeli forces on Sunday. Media restrictions in Gaza and difficulties in accessing many areas mean AFP is unable to independently verify the tolls and details provided by the civil defence agency.

ACE Gallagher Insurance Brokers Bahrain team members contributed through donations and volunteering, working hand in hand to create a memorable art workshop held at Artology, a vibrant and inclusive art studio. Each child received a themed mood board centered around the idea of 'a brighter tomorrow with love,' sparking imagination and positivity. Employees sat side by side with the children, co-creating colorful canvas paintings that beautifully expressed each child's unique vision and spirit.
