Luis Severino has made it known that he's not a big fan of playing in Sacramento.
The ex-Yankee and ex-Met vocalized his frustrations with Sutter Health Park earlier this year, acknowledging its 'tough' to pitch in his new home.
His numbers thus far in California's capital bear that sentiment.
Severino has a whopping 7.10 ERA at Sutter Health Park this season, which is the fifth-highest in baseball among starters with at least seven outings at their home park.
He has allowed six homers and 19 doubles across nine outings at Sutter Health, which are puzzling numbers considering what he's done on the road.
Away from Sacramento, Severino has a 0.93 ERA in six starts while not allowing a single home run, suggesting that there really is something bothering him at his home ballpark.
Severino has a shot to get right against the Astros on Wednesday, but the ballpark once again won't be doing him any favors.

Weather forecasts call for toasty near-100-degree weather in Sacramento, meaning the ball will likely be flying out of what has been the most hitter-friendly park in the league this season.
The A's have let Severino pitch deep into games at Sutter Health despite his lack of success, going at least five innings at home in all but one start, so we want to avoid taking the under on his strikeout or out player props.

Instead, I'm targeting the over on his earned runs line.
Severino has given up at least three runs in seven of his nine outings at home, and it'll be tough to avoid hitting that number once again on Wednesday.
The play: Luis Severino Over 3 Earned Runs

What Could've Been For Buffalo: Looking Back At The Sabres' 2020-21 Roster

GM Kevyn Adams and the Buffalo Sabres have moved on from another promising player before they reached the pinnacle of their career. On Wednesday night, JJ Peterka was traded to the Utah Mammoth for Michael Kesselring and Josh Doan. With Peterka gone, the Sabres have just six players remaining from their 2020-21 roster. That team didn't have success in the regular season, as they finished last in the NHL. However, looking back at the makeup of their roster, they had an impressive group of players. That 2020-21 team included Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, Casey Mittelstadt, Taylor Hall, Brandon Montour, Dylan Cozens, Jake McCabe and Linus Ullmark. All those players now play elsewhere, and some of them have gone on to win Stanley Cups and NHL awards. In addition, that Sabres team had Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, three players who remain on Buffalo's current roster. Among the ex-Sabres listed and including their former captain, Kyle Okposo, there are five Stanley Cups between them. Not just that, all those players experienced playoff hockey after moving from Buffalo. Eichel and Reinhart have transformed themselves into some of the best players in the league since they were traded away from Buffalo. The Sabres traded Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights in the middle of the 2021-22 campaign. There was a disagreement between the player and the team regarding his health and how to manage Eichel's injury. Nonetheless, he became a different beast once he moved to Nevada, especially last season. Eichel reached a new career-high of 94 points, including 28 goals in 77 games. The 28-year-old finished in the top five in voting for the Hart, Selke and Lady Byng Trophies. Reinhart is a back-to-back Cup champion with the Florida Panthers and is a key member of the team. On top of that, he had a 57-goal season in 2023-24 and has been a top-five Selke Trophy candidate twice since joining Florida. With that, Eichel and Reinhart were selected to Team USA and Team Canada's preliminary rosters, respectively, for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in February. Even Jeff Skinner, who never made a playoff appearance before this past season, went all the way to the Stanley Cup final with the Edmonton Oilers. He was bought out by the Sabres and signed with the Oilers as a free agent last July. It's worth mentioning that the Sabres hold the joint-longest playoff drought among the four major sports in North America. They share a 14-year playoff drought with the NFL's New York Jets, and it's the longest drought in NHL history. Even those players who haven't gone on to win the Stanley Cup they turned out to be solid players, making a difference on their respective teams. For example, Ullmark has won a Vezina and William M. Jennings Trophy one season after he signed with the Boston Bruins in the 2021 off-season. Now, he's a true No.1 goaltender and was a key piece to pushing the Ottawa Senators to the post-season for the first time since 2017. Defenseman Jake McCabe is another player who has found a new home. He's been a force with the Toronto Maple Leafs, heading into his fourth season with the team, and depending on the game, McCabe is sometimes the best D-man on Toronto. Only time will tell if Peterka becomes yet another player that Buffalo may regret moving on from. Cowboys Wideout Viewed as 'Major Player' in NFC East Race

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Coming off a shaky tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, George Pickens finds himself with a change of scenery. As he prepares for this next chapter of his career, one analyst thinks he can have a major impact on one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL right now. During the offseason, the Dallas Cowboys decided to roll the dice on Pickens in an attempt to bolster the offense. Despite his off-field drama, he is still one of the most skilled receivers in the league. Landing in Dallas is a good situation for Pickens, as he's joining a pass-heavy offense led by a high-level quarterback in Dak Prescott. Though his production took a slight dip in 2024, many believe Pickens has the potential to be an impactful piece for the Cowboys this season. While appearing on SportsCenter over the weekend, Jeremy Fowler opened up on how Pickens could help sway things in an air-tight NFC East. George Pickens #14 of the Pittsburgh Steelers celebrates after making a catch against the Carolina Panthers during the second quarter of the game at Bank of America Stadium on December 18, 2022 in Charlotte, North... "People I've talked to in that division feel like he can tilt the field for Dallas and he'll be a major player. Because he is one of the best contested catchers in the league, body contortive things downfield, so he gives them a new dimension. The issue really in Pittsburgh was really the maturity issues and some of those problems there, but a lot of it stems with Pickens wanting to get the ball, and wanting the offense to move properly, having the passing game humming. And so Dallas has that with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb already. So he's walking into a good situation." Also read: Kevin Durant Utters Bold Statement on Cowboys Star Micah Parsons With Prescott returning from injury this season, the Cowboys are primed to get back in the hunt in the NFC. This will be no small feat, as their division is going to be as competitive as it's been in recent memory. The Philadelphia Eagles are in a strong position to repeat as champions, and the Washington Commanders will want to get back to the conference championship. Knowing this, the Cowboys made sure to bolster their cast of offensive weapons around Prescott, most notably by acquiring Pickens. Playing alongside CeeDee Lamb, Pickens is going to have endless opportunities to make defenses pay. If he's able to keep his focus on the field, he could emerge as an X-factor for Dallas and help them compete in the loaded NFC East. A's Luis Severino: ‘I'm not the only one' who feels uncomfortable playing at Sacramento

NEW YORK — Sacramento A's starting pitcher Luis Severino doesn't worry about about speaking his mind. He called himself the 'worst pitcher in the game' after a brutal stretch two years ago. Last season, while playing for the New York Mets, he said that the New York Yankees 'only have two good hitters,' referring to Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. Advertisement So Severino wasn't going to back down Sunday from his comments earlier in the week bashing the conditions in Sacramento, where the A's are playing this season as they transition from Oakland to Las Vegas. And he shrugged at a report saying the organization 'can't wait' to trade him. 'I can't do nothing about if they get mad or not,' he said after getting roughed up in a 12-5 loss at Yankee Stadium. 'I just say what it is. 'If you ask me how I feel pitching at home, I'm not going to lie to you. Because at the end, you guys are going to figure out if it's a lie or not. My job is here to try to pitch and every time you ask me a question, be honest with you guys. So, that's what I did.' Severino said other A's players feel the way he does about playing at Sutter Health Ballpark, a minor-league stadium. 'I was not trying to hurt anyone's feelings by saying that,' he said. 'But I'm not the only one who feels the same way.' On Friday, Severino said 'it feels like a spring training game' when he pitches at home, and he pointed out the ballpark's lack of air conditioning, small crowds and how its clubhouse is in left field. 'It's really tough,' he said. Early Sunday, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that the A's 'can't wait' to trade Severino and that he was 'agitating the organization' with his comments about their current home stadium. 'If they trade me or not, I'm going to keep grinding,' he said. 'Trying to be my best going out there.' Manager Mark Kotsay deflected when asked if he thought Severino would be with the A's after the trade deadline. 'Those decisions are above me,' he said. 'I mean, I'm involved in them. Obviously, I have a voice. But as far as what we do at the deadline, we're still far away from the deadline. There's still, what, over three weeks to get there or more. We'll tackle that question when we get closer.' Advertisement The A's signed Severino to a three-year, $67 million deal in December — the richest guaranteed contract in franchise history. The problem for Severino? The A's might call Sacramento home for a while. The club had a stadium groundbreaking ceremony Monday in Las Vegas, and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred told the Las Vegas Review Journal that 'we're glad that we'll have a team here in '28.' Kotsay added that he believes Severino's frustration with Sutter Health Ballpark 'comes from when you don't have success.' Severino is 0-7 with a 6.79 ERA in 10 starts at home. On the road, he's 2-2 with a 3.23 ERA in eight starts. He gave up six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings Sunday on three strikeouts, three walks and five hits, including a three-run home run to Jazz Chisholm Jr. and a two-run shot to Judge. 'For Sevy,' Kotsay said, 'he can talk about it, but I think at the end of the day, when he's asked by the players and by his teammates, he understands our situation. He's not looking to make excuses about performance. You have to just pitch better.' Severino was also the victim of defensive lapses Sunday, including a popup that fell for a hit due to miscommunication, a dropped fly ball and a ball that bounced under the glove of center fielder Denzel Clarke, guaranteeing a bases-clearing triple for Chisholm in the third inning. 'At this level,' Kotsay said, 'those plays should be made.' But Severino also said that worries that he was tipping pitches when the Detroit Tigers rocked him for seven runs in his previous outing leaked into his performance Sunday. He said that he tried to correct possible pitch tipping in a bullpen session at Yankee Stadium on Friday afternoon. During the session, someone from the A's placed a towel over the bullpen camera — presumably so that the Yankees use it to watch Severino work. The feed from the visiting bullpen camera is displayed in the Yankees' dugout, along with a feed from the home bullpen. The Yankees surely can watch the feed elsewhere, too. Advertisement ' Today, if you see the last game compared to (this) one, I changed my mechanics,' Severino said. 'I changed my glove positioning because I feel I was not having rhythm. I was thinking too much about the tipping thing.' He didn't lie about how he's been pitching lately, either. 'It's not been the best stretch,' he said. 'I feel I was very good on the road and then the last two starts have not been very good. Just need to figure it out.'
