Inter Milan remain very much attentive to the future when it comes to their defense.
The Nerazzurri are certainly looking to sign at least one player for the present. Reportedly, the likes of Sam Beukema, Oumar Solet, Mario Gila, and Jhon Lucumi are major targets in this respect.
But Inter are not just looking to sign defenders for the here and now.
The Nerazzurri are also targeting players who can strengthen their backline in the long-term.
For example, teenage Parma defender Giovanni Leoni has reportedly come onto Inter's radar.
However, Leoni is not the only young defender Inter are eyeing up.

This has been the first season in which the 22-year-old has featured regularly for Verona. He had spent last season on loan with Sampdoria in Serie B.
And it has been an impressive debut campaign in the top flight for Ghilardi.
The Italy Under-21 international has been a regular starter and a pillar at the back for the Gialloblu as they've looked to stave off relegation.
According to FCIN, Inter will be scouting Ghilardi tomorrow.
Verona host Cagliari in Serie A. It could be a key match, with neither side out of the woods as far as relegation goes just yet.
And Ghilardi's performance could certainly be decisive. Inter will certainly be watching to see how the 22-year-old does.

Report – Inter Milan Encounter Difficulties In Signing Cremonese Center-Forward For U23 Squad
Negotiations between Cremonese and Inter Milan over David Stuckler are not progressing as smoothly as expected. According to FCInter1908, there's one crucial disagreement that's currently holding up the deal. Inter kicked off talks for David Stuckler last week, hoping to include him in their U23 squad. Furthermore, the player seemed enthusiastic about this opportunity and was ready to say goodbye to Cremonese. However, the clubs are far from reaching an agreement. (Photo by) Inter's opening bid failed to meet Cremonese's demands. Indeed, the Nerazzurri had hoped to sign the 20-year-old striker on loan with an option to buy. However, the Serie A newcomers are only willing to listen to 'important' offers for the Dane. Otherwise, they would loan him out to gain experience, but without a buyout option. That's unacceptable to Inter, who are reluctant to invest in the player's development without securing control over his future. Although talks are ongoing, it's hard to tell how close Stuckler is to joining the Nerazzurri.

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could make a shock move to Inter Milan next summer. According to Sky Sport via FCInter1908, the Italian star could return to his homeland at the end of the upcoming season. With the Nerazzurri preparing for life after Yann Sommer, they're scouring the market for a new shot-stopper. Despite signing Josep Martinez from Genoa last year, they remain in the market for a reliable goalie. (Photo by) The name of Gianluigi Donnarumma first emerged in January. However, a transfer of that magnitude was never going to happen during a winter transfer window. Nothing will likely occur this summer either. Yet, there's a chance for Donnarumma to return to San Siro next year. Already labeled as a 'traitor' among the AC Milan faithful, he could further antagonize the Rossoneri crowd. Indeed, his contract at the Parc des Princes runs out in 2026. As such, Inter will reportedly try to snatch him on a free transfer despite facing fierce competition across the continent.

Report – Inter Milan Making Strides In Exhausting Pursuit Of Atalanta Star Forward
Inter Milan informed Atalanta of their second offer for Ademola Lookman earlier today, but have yet to receive a definite response. According to Sportitalia via FCInterNews, La Dea are still expecting a written proposal from the San Siro club. Beppe Marotta met with Luca Precassi during today's League Council and took the occasion to present Inter's second bid. Indeed, after Atalanta turned down their €40 million offer earlier in July, the Nerazzurri have returned with a new package. (Photo by) As it stands, Inter's new bid, worth €40 million plus another €5 million in add-ons, could do the trick. Though it's still below Atalanta's request, a written proposal will likely get La Dea's seal of approval. Indeed, Ivan Juric's men have urged the San Siro outfit to put their terms on paper before sending their response. Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman is waiting for Atalanta's signal to start packing his bags.
