The growth of Dubai's wholesale and retail sector by 2.9%, reaching AED 83.12 billion in 2024, along with global forecasts predicting the baby products market will surge to USD 217 billion by 2030[1], creates a promising landscape for baby and maternity brands. The Baby Expo 2025 has doubled in size, now spanning 14,000 square meters, to meet the growing demand from brands looking to expand their presence in the region. We're proud to provide a networking hub where industry leaders share business insights, explore market trends, and forge valuable connections to stay ahead in this evolving industry.
Also new for 2025, will be The Mother, Baby and Child Awards – celebrating excellence in the Middle East's maternity, baby and children's industry. Taking place on May 16 at the Ritz Carlton DIFC, the evening will celebrate the brands and businesses making a meaningful impact in the lives of families, recognising those that provide exceptional products and services for mothers, babies, and toddlers. Honouring industry pioneers—from leading nurseries and baby-friendly restaurants to trusted baby essentials brands—the awards spotlight those dedicated to supporting parents through every stage of early childhood development.
Irfan Porbanderwalla, CEO of Cybex in India, Middle East and Africa said: The Baby Expo 2024, the first of its kind in the region, was an incredible success for us. The event played a pivotal role in enhancing CYBEX's brand exposure and elevating the baby industry in the Middle East. Last year, we were thrilled with the turnout and the valuable conversations we had within the B2C and B2B space. Looking ahead to 2025, we're excited to return as the Safety Partner. This year, together with RTA, we'll be introducing a dedicated Safety Zone, focusing on child road safety, featuring live demonstrations and expert advice on secure travel solutions for the little ones.
The Baby Expo focuses on brand awareness, connecting with distributors, retailers, and industry buyers in the Middle East, and fostering networking opportunities. In 2024, 83% of exhibitors said the event helped them achieve these objectives. Building on the success of 450 business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking meetings in its inaugural year, The Baby Expo 2025 is set to bring together even more industry-leading brands and professionals. With over 700 B2B meetings scheduled, an expanded lineup of exhibitors, and new international pavilions, the event promises a diverse and immersive experience for industry professionals.
The 2025 edition of The Baby Expo is set to build on its success, with an 85% exhibitor return rate and 75% of exhibitors considering it essential to their marketing and sales strategies. UAE Investors Turn to Lifestyle Assets as Hospitality and Leisure Deliver Faster Returns

Agon Capital, a UAE-based leading private investment and conglomerate group, has announced that 60% of its current portfolio is now allocated to lifestyle-led assets, up from 30% in 2021. The shift reflects the company's growing focus on experience-driven investments, including hospitality, sports, and leisure, in response to changing market dynamics and investor demand across the Gulf region. According to Agon Capital, lifestyle assets within its portfolio are achieving break-even within six months of launch, with full return on investment typically realised within 2.5 to 3 years. This performance contrasts with longer-cycle sectors such as traditional real estate, where ROI can take up to a decade. The company's internal growth data shows a 15% revenue increase across brands such as The Coterie and Precision Football in 2024, followed by a further 10% growth in 2025. The portfolio expansion includes the launch of three lifestyle ventures over the past 18 months: Coterie Social & Kitchen , Saylor's , BCH: CLB , and Gitano Dubai . Repeat customer engagement has been a key driver of performance, with some guests returning more than 70 times to a single venue. While lifestyle ventures demand more operational resources, including staffing and licensing, Agon Capital views them as commercially viable and scalable investments. ' We're seeing strong demand across the region for experience-led assets that deliver measurable returns . These investments are no longer niche. They're demonstrating resilience, faster ROI, and long-term brand strength, which is why we continue to grow our allocation in this segment. ' said Ryan Hattingh, Group CEO of Agon Capital . The company's pipeline includes regional expansion of its sports platform, Precision Football, into Saudi Arabia, and the development of Villivaru Island Resort in the Maldives, a USD $300 million lifestyle investment comprising 61 villas and 11 branded residences. Scheduled to open in 2027 under a global hospitality operator, the project marks Agon's first international expansion of its lifestyle portfolio. External data reinforces the category's potential. Knight Frank reports that branded residences in Dubai command up to a 35% price premium over conventional properties, while Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (ADAT) values the UAE hospitality market at USD 7.37 billion in 2024, with forecasts projecting it will reach USD 9.46 billion by 2029, driven by sustained regional growth and increased private sector participation. Agon expects lifestyle to remain a core pillar of its portfolio in the years ahead, supported by measured capital deployment and a focus on high-performing, strategically located assets. BurjX Becomes Fully Regulated Crypto Platform Under ADGM Framework

BurjX, a digital asset trading platform founded in the UAE, has received Financial Services Permission from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) for brokerage and custody operations. With this approval, BurjX becomes a fully regulated platform offering trading in over 100 digital assets. This milestone positions it as one of the few platforms in the region licensed to provide both brokerage and custody services under ADGM's virtual asset regulatory framework. Nearly one-third of the UAE population is projected to hold crypto assets within the next year, placing the country among the highest global adoption rates. 'Our aim was to build something that reflects the future of this region: regulated, trusted, and globally competitive,' said Omar Abbas, Co-Founder and Chief Executive of BurjX, who previously co-founded NDAX, a major Canadian crypto exchange. 'Securing our FSRA licence and launching with more than 100 assets is proof of what is possible when you build with conviction from the start. We are not another imported platform entering the UAE. We are a homegrown one, built here to lead globally.' The platform allows users to convert UAE dirhams to digital assets through integration with local banking infrastructure via Zand Bank. This enables near-instant funding in AED and access to over 100 tokens, all under ADGM's regulatory oversight. BurjX is built on institutional infrastructure capable of processing over one million transactions per second. It uses Fireblocks' multi-party computation wallet technology for custody and offers insurance coverage for both hot and cold wallets. The platform is designed to serve retail and institutional users with a focus on transaction speed, security, and liquidity. For high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients, BurjX has introduced a Private Client Division. This division provides over-the-counter services, tailored execution, and dedicated client coverage. Following its official launch, BurjX plans to expand across the UAE and the wider MENA region. The company will continue to prioritise security, regulatory compliance, and accessibility as it scales its operations.
