BRS leader Praveen Kumar demands Govt. handover phone-tapping case to CBI
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader R.S. Praveen Kumar has demanded that the State government hand over the phone tapping case being probed by a special investigation team of the State Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) since Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy himself is facing similar allegations now.
Along with the CBI inquiry, the government must institute an inquiry with a sitting judge of the High Court in the matter as the Chief Minister appears to be get the phones of his Cabinet colleagues, Congress party leaders as also those of Opposition parties tapped with the help of private agencies instead of the State Police under Section 5 of the Telegraph Act, he said addressing a press conference here on Tuesday.
Suspecting that Mr. Revanth Reddy was getting the phones tapped with the help of Pegasus spyware, the former IPS officer alleged that the he was doing so with the help of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre and felt that Union Home Minister Amit Shah could also be in the know of the tapping going on in Telangana.
Alleging that his phone was also being tapped as he received notice from the SIT in the ongoing phone tapping case on July 14, but a vernacular newspaper backing Mr. Revanth Reddy wrote about it on July 7 itself. He stated that his phone was tapped while he was in Panjagutta PS in the matter of a case. The BRS would also bring the matter of phone tapping by the Revanth Reddy government to the Governor's notice.

BRS urges Telangana HC to step in over recurring food poisoning incidents in residential schools
HYDERABAD The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has urged the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court to take suo motu cognisance of the recurring incidents of food poisoning in residential schools across Telangana. The appeal comes in the wake of 111 students from the Jyotiba Phule Backward Classes Welfare Residential School for Girls in Uyyalawada, Nagarkurnool district, being hospitalised on Sunday. BRS leader T. Harish Rao, who visited the school along with party leaders Marri Janardhan Reddy, C. Laxma Reddy, Guvvala Balaraju and others, interacted with students and parents at the hospital. He expressed concern that such a serious incident had occurred in Chief Minister Reddy's home district, despite the CM also holding the Education portfolio. 'When the government can spend ₹1 lakh for a meal during the Miss World beauty pageant, why can't it provide safe food to students in residential schools,' Rao questioned. He further criticised the government for what he termed as a political vendetta, asking if erasing the legacy of former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao meant neglecting students to the extent of illness and even death. Not a day goes by without distressing news about residential school students, he said, adding that while the government has been talking about integrated schools for the past 20 months, not a single one has yet been established. Rao said that repeated incidents of food poisoning in government residential schools were eroding public trust, leading to a drop in admissions as parents were increasingly reluctant to send their children to such institutions. He urged the Chief Minister to introspect and take immediate steps to improve conditions, at the very least, by ensuring hygienic living environments and safe, nutritious food for students. He also interacted with students at the school and blamed the ongoing issues on the government's negligence and administrative failure, pointing out that such incidents have been frequently reported across the State over the past 20 months. He alleged that authorities rushed students to the hospital only after learning about the BRS team's visit, and in some cases, children were treated under trees on the school campus itself, making them hold IV fluid bottles in their hands. He further claimed that over 100 students have died in residential schools during this period, even as he underscored the urgent need for intervention.

Need better coordination on new threats: Amit Shah
Stressing the new security challenges that need to be tackled through "better coordination", Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday directed the "formation of homogenous teams of central and state agencies to develop strategies, implement and monitor them." This came after two days of the National Security Strategies Conference (NSSC) that concluded late Sunday where Shah further instructed the involvement of young police officers in each state to brainstorm on national challenges and devise solutions to address them. He urged that the use of national databases like NATGRID, NIDAAN, iMoT and CBI's fugitive database be inculcated amongst young officers by including them in all training programmes, according to an official statement. Addressing the 8th NSSC, the home minister said the government has resolved numerous issues scattered across states as he emphasised that the next 5-10 years would be very important for the development and security of the country. Maradu police launch probe into faulty construction of Chander Kunj Army Towers
Kochi: Maradu police have registered one more FIR and begun an investigation into the alleged faulty construction of Chander Kunj Army Towers at Silver Sand Island, Vyttila. The FIR was registered under Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. The FIR was registered on July 21, based on a court directive after Colonel (retd) Ciby George, a resident of the Army towers, filed a private complaint before Ernakulam judicial first-class magistrate court-VIII. The FIR states that the crime was committed with the intention of making excessive profits by cheating the complainant and others. The three towers of the apartment complex were constructed under the ownership of Army Welfare Housing Organisation, without obtaining necessary sanctions from govt departments and by using low-quality materials. The complainant purchased one of the flats in the building on May 31, 2018, but the flat started developing damages and became uninhabitable. The accused committed the crime by overseeing the construction at various stages and at other times. The FIR was registered after the petition filed before the court was forwarded to the station, the FIR states. Maradu station house officer (SHO) filed a report before the court on July 15 stating that the case was of a serious nature and there was a need for a special unit of police to investigate it. The case diary was submitted to higher-ups so that the probe could be transferred to crime branch. Further procedures were in process regarding the same, the report stated. Maradu police are also investigating three other cases registered in connection with the issue. Earlier, the high court on June 16 declined to order a CBI investigation into the alleged corruption behind the dilapidated condition of towers B and C on a petition filed by George.
