Oklahoma OF Maya Bland enters the transfer portal
Two days into the offseason, the Oklahoma Sooners have lost two players to the transfer portal, with more likely to come. On Tuesday, true freshman catcher Corri Hicks announced via social media that she's entering the portal. On Wednesday, it's Maya Bland looking for a new home.
Bland stated via Instagram, "Thank you Sooner Nation for the love and support you've shown me these past two years. I greatly appreciate it. God's got a new path for me but I will cherish my time as a Sooner."
The sophomore appeared primarily as a pinch runner for the Sooners in her two years in Norman, but she did have some big moments at the plate in 2025. She hit a two-run home run in Oklahoma's 5-1 win over Alabama back in April. Against Oklahoma State, Bland hit a game-winning three-run home to secure the run-rule win over the Sooners' Bedlam rivals.
During her career with Oklahoma, Bland hit .277 with two doubles, three home runs, and 14 RBIs. She had 11 stolen bases, including eight as a true freshman in 2024.
The Oklahoma Sooners are set to return the key pieces to their outfield in 2025. Kasidi Pickering, Abigale Dayton, Hannah Coor, Tia Milloy, and Chaney Helton will be back. Oklahoma's also bringing in the No. 1 player in the 2025 recruiting class, outfielder Kai Minor.

Who does R Mason Thomas expect to break out at defensive end in 2025?
The Oklahoma Sooners will open fall camp on July 30, and star pass rusher R Mason Thomas is expecting big things out of a pair of young defensive ends. Speaking at SEC media days last week, Thomas didn't hesitate when he was asked who he expects to break out this season at defensive end. Adepoju Adebawore and Taylor Wein. They have a chance to make noise on the Sooners' depth chart in 2025. Both players were a part of the 2023 recruiting class. Adebawore was a highly coveted five-star signee. Wein was a three-star prospect who committed to Oklahoma late in the 2023 cycle. Though they may have been viewed differently as high school prospects, both Wein and Adebawore have impressed this offseason. Thomas said the two players are "hungry" and they "want it." Thomas even said it wouldn't be surprising to see either player go get five sacks this season because of how hard they're working to make an impact. The Sooners will deploy a rotation at defensive end. With Ethan Downs off to the NFL, Oklahoma brought in former five-star prospect Marvin Jones Jr., who spent time at Georgia and Florida State. But Adebawore and Wein have an opportunity to earn significant snaps in the Sooners' defense this season. Former Michigan State hockey winger inks first professional contract
After completing a successful four year run at Michigan State, veteran forward Tanner Kelly is getting a start to his professional career. On Wednesday, the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL announced that they have come to an agreement with the former Spartan for the 2025-26 season. In four seasons with MSU, Kelly finished with 58 points (24G, 34A), 87 penalty minutes, and a +14 in 144 collegiate games. A native of San Diego, California, Kelly becomes the latest Spartan that has made the professional ranks. A 5-foot-10, 175 pound right handed shot forward, Kelly brings versatility as a center or a winger at the next level. Michigan State hockey transfer finds new home in the ACHA
Michigan State hockey added Kaden Nelson to it's team for the 2024-25 season after the forward spent two seasons with the Oklahoma Warriors of the NAHL. In his one season with the Spartans, Nelson unfortunately never touched the ice, and was a healthy scratch that earned a redshirt. After the conclusion of the season, Nelson decided to transfer from the program. Now, he has found his new home. The former Spartan will be transferring down a couple of levels and playing ACHA (D2) hockey. Nelson will be joining Oklahoma State and their club hockey program for the upcoming season.
