EAM Jaishankar discusses Indo-Danish ties with Denmark's FM
During the discussions, Jaishankar also lauded Denmark's solidarity and its support for India's fight against terrorism.
"Delighted to meet FM Lars Lokke Rasmussen in Copenhagen this evening. Denmark's strong solidarity and support on combatting terrorism has been truly commendable. Our wide-ranging conversation on bilateral ties and global issues testifies to the strength of our relationship," Jaishankar stated, taking to X.
Earlier in the day, the EAM met with the Speaker of the Danish Parliament Folketing, Soren Gade, expressing appreciation for Denmark's solidarity against terrorism.
"A very warm meeting with Speaker Soren Gade in Copenhagen today. Appreciate his solidarity as India resolutely combats terrorism. Also value his sustained support for building India-Denmark relations," the EAM stated.
Later in the day, Jaishankar engaged with the Indian community in Copenhagen, noting their role in enhancing cultural connections.
"Great to meet with Indian community representatives in Copenhagen. They hold the Indian flag high in Denmark and shape our positive image in this country," Jaishankar added.
Jaishankar arrived in Denmark on Wednesday after concluding a successful two-day official visit to the Netherlands from May 19 to 20.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen received the EAM, and key discussions focused on advancing the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership. This underscored both nations' commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and addressing global challenges.
Following this, Jaishankar met with Morten Bodskov, the Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, in Copenhagen.
Both ministers discussed deepening existing areas of cooperation and exploring new possibilities.

Brussels: European hotel owners are joining together in a class action suit against the online platform with more than 10,000 hotels have now signed on to the damages suit. According to the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes in Europe HOTREC, which represents the industry within the EU, hotel owners will seek compensation for losses incurred between 2004 and 2024 as a result of so-called "best-price" clauses that keep hotels from offering rooms for less on their own sites. The initiative is also backed by 30 national hotel associations, including the German Hotel Association (IHA). Germany's Bavaria steps up deportation of Afghans, Syrians
Berlin: The Prime Minister of Germany's Bavaria state has once again emphasized the deportation of foreign criminals, including nationals from Afghanistan and Syria, as Germany pushes forward with a tougher migration stance, Tolo News reported. Bavarian Premier Markus Soder stated that Germany has reformed its immigration policy, sending a clear message that all criminals and human traffickers will face quicker arrest and deportation in Bavaria than in other parts of the country. "Law and order prevail in Bavaria. Foreign criminals must be decisively deported--even to Afghanistan and Syria. Overall, we have brought a shift in migration policy. The principle is: more people should be deported, and fewer should be accepted," Soder said. Tolo News reported that the remarks come amid growing concerns among Afghan nationals living in Germany, who claim the federal government has tightened its stance toward foreign nationals--particularly Afghans--by delegating more authority to state governments in deporting individuals considered criminal offenders under German law. Political analyst Najib Rahman Shamal said: "Germany has recently imposed stricter restrictions on refugees involved in criminal activities. These countries have reinforced their borders and imposed severe limitations." Refugee rights activist Alireza Karimi also weighed in, stating that Soder's remarks reflect a harsh treatment of refugees in Germany. "Insisting on the deportation of Syrian and Afghan refugees indicates a significant legal shift in German state policy," he said. Germany's renewed deportation push follows its latest action on July 17, when the country deported 81 Afghans to Kabul--marking the second such deportation this solar year, according to Tolo News. In the wake of these developments, the caretaker government of Afghanistan has appointed two diplomats, Nebras-ul-Haq Aziz and Mostafa Hashimi, to serve at its embassy in Germany, a reliable source has told Tolo News. Although the Acting Foreign Minister has not officially named the individuals, he confirmed that two diplomats have been dispatched to provide consular services to Afghan nationals. Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi stated: "We will have future talks and negotiations with Germany and, God willing, further progress. We also thank Qatar for its mediation, which, after several consecutive months of efforts, led to an understanding and agreement that enabled our diplomats to arrive there." Muttaqi praised Qatar's role in facilitating the process and hinted at potential progress in talks and relations between the Islamic Emirate and Germany. Meanwhile, the Director of Consular Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the passport issuance center in Bonn, Germany, will soon be reactivated after a four-year suspension. He noted that the resumption of services would help resolve passport-related issues for Afghans in Europe. Shoib Baryalai, Director of Consular Services, said: "We have a passport printing office in Bonn that has been inactive for nearly four years. God willing, passports will be issued there for all of Europe, and this will help address the problems of Afghans living in those countries." Although the German government has repeatedly emphasised that its relations with the caretaker government are technical and unofficial, some political analysts view this development as a sign of a gradual shift in Germany's stance. Political analyst Najib Rahman Shamal said: "In the past, there were calls for direct engagement. Now, with the arrival of the new government, Germany also seeks direct contact with the caretaker administration, including for the deportation of refugees." "President secured a historic trade agreement with the EU that puts America first": White House
Washington DC: The White House Press Secretary announced on Thursday (local time) several updates on the front of trade and tariff under the Trump 2.0 administration, highlighting a "historic" trade agreement with the European Union (EU), which amongst several other factors would see the EU purchasing USD750 billion in US energy and also informed of negotiating trade deals with18 major trading partners. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made the remarks during the White House Press Briefing. Speaking about the trade agreement with the European Union, Leavitt told the media, "On the trade front, the president secured a historic trade agreement with the European Union that puts America first and fundamentally strengthens the economic relationship between the two largest economies in the world. This deal delivers on two of President Trump's core promises on trade- supercharging America's manufacturing capacity and opening up foreign market access to American businesses. The deal guarantees that American businesses will have unprecedented levels of access to the European Union markets to export our American-made goods. Also, as part of this agreement, the EU will purchase $750 billion in U.S. energy to strengthen our energy dominance, reduce European reliance on adversarial sources, and narrow our trade deficit with the EU". She highlighted that all of these massive purchases and investments will happen by the end of 2028. "What we are watching is President Trump rebuilding the greatest economy in the history of the world and simultaneously proving the so-called economic experts wrong at every turn. Media pundits said a trade deal with the EU this monumental and beneficial to America would be impossible, but President Trump made it happen", Leavitt added. Speaking about other negotiations on the trade front, she also answered a query on trade discussions with South Korea. She said, "South Korea will purchase USD 100B in American energy by 2028--and the centrepiece of this deal is that South Korea has agreed to invest $350B at the President's direction to revitalise American industry. Ninety per cent of those profits will go to the United States government to help pay down our debt and other matters of the President's choosing. " Providing a broader view of the administration's trade strategy, Karoline Leavitt said, "We promised that the President would negotiate with countries all around the world to cut tailor-made trade deals ... of our 18 major trading partners, two-thirds of those trading partners have a deal." "More than 200 countries around the world have reached out to the trade and tariff are going to prioritise our key trading trade team has been working around the clock to try to be in correspondence with as many countries as possible, but if they haven't heard from us yet, they will in the form of a letter or an executive order by midnight tonight". As the long-feared tariff hikes come into force on August 1, the US administration has inked a flurry of trade deals. Several nations, including the UK, Indonesia, Japan, and the EU, successfully negotiated lower tariff rates than initially threatened. US President Donald Trump announced steep trade tariffs for many of the country's largest trading partners, as countries try to get extensions for negotiations beyond the August 1 deadline, Al Jazeera reported. The Trump administration has justified the new tariff rates as necessary to redress trade imbalances, thereby giving a boost to American manufacturing and jobs, in line with his popular agenda, 'Make America Great Again'. The White House had confirmed that Trump will sign new executive orders on Thursday, thereby formally imposing all these higher tariffs.
