Iranian supreme leader Khamenei appears in public after Israel war
Khamenei was absent from ceremonies during the start of the Muslim New Year, Muharram, held at his residence on Palestine Street for the last three nights, but he appeared Saturday for the solemn ceremonies to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain.
Anadolu reported footage on X by the official account of the supreme leader showed attendees at Imam Khomeini's Hosseinieh mansion welcoming Khamenei as he entered a hall.
During a 12-day war between Iran and Israel last month, US President Donald Trump and Tel Aviv threatened to assassinate Khamenei.
Khamenei was seen delivering speeches during the assault on Iran. After a ceasefire was reached, Iran accused Washington of joining the attacks to save Tel Aviv, which Iran responded to with counterstrikes.
The first three days of this year's Muharram ceremonies were held at Khamenei's residence for the first time without his participation.
A conflict between Israel and Iran erupted June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian military, nuclear and civilian sites, killing at least 935 people.
The Iranian Health Ministry said 5,332 people were injured.
Tehran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes, killing at least 29 people and wounding more than 3,400, according to figures released by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The US bombed Iran's Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities, escalating the conflict.

A ceasefire between the two arch-foes took effect on June 24. Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday made his first public appearance since the war broke out, state media reported, taking part in a religious ceremony in Tehran. Doha hosts fresh Gaza ceasefire talks as Netanyahu prepares to meet Trump
JERUSALEM: Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas are set to resume Sunday in Doha for a Gaza truce and hostage release deal, ahead of a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House. Netanyahu had earlier announced he was sending a team to Qatar, a key mediator in the conflict, though he said Hamas's response to a draft US-backed ceasefire deal contained "unacceptable" demands. Under mounting pressure to end the war, now approaching its 22nd month, Netanyahu is scheduled to meet on Monday with US President Donald Trump, who has been making a renewed push to end the fighting. A Palestinian official familiar with the talks and close to Hamas said international mediators had informed the group that "a new round of indirect negotiations... will begin in Doha today." The talks would focus on conditions for a possible ceasefire, including hostage and prisoner releases, and Hamas would also seek the reopening of Gaza's Rafah crossing to evacuate the wounded, the official told AFP. Hamas's delegation, led by its top negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, was in Doha, the official told AFP. Israel's public broadcaster said the country's delegation had left for the Qatari capital in the early afternoon. Netanyahu met Israeli President Isaac Herzog for talks on Gaza and efforts to expand ties with Arab states before his departure for the United States at 5pm (1400 GMT). Two Palestinian sources close to the discussions told AFP the proposal included a 60-day truce, during which Hamas would release 10 living hostages and several bodies in exchange for Palestinians detained by Israel. However, they said, the group was also demanding certain conditions for Israel's withdrawal, guarantees against a resumption of fighting during negotiations, and the return of the UN-led aid distribution system. On the ground, Gaza's civil defence agency said 14 people were killed by Israeli forces on Sunday. In Gaza City, 25 people were killed when Israeli warplanes bombed two homes sheltering displaced families in the Sheikh Radwan and Al-Nasr neighbourhoods, a medical source said. Eyewitnesses said the houses were filled with sleeping families, mostly women and children, when the strikes occurred. Several people remain trapped under the rubble. bootstrap slideshow An Israeli drone strike hit a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians in Sheikh Radwan, killing three and injuring others, according to health officials. Overnight, three people from the same family were killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike on their home in the Al-Daraj neighbourhood of Gaza City, a source at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital confirmed.
