Wegmans recalls frozen chicken nuggets due to possible bone fragments
A public health alert was issued for frozen, fully cooked Wegmans breaded chicken breast nuggets by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, with hopes of making sure customers are aware that they shouldn't eat them. A typical recall from the agency wasn't issued because the product is no longer for sale.
The alert covers 46 ounce plastic packages containing 'Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat' with a best if used by date of Aug. 26, 2025. That is located on the back of the packaging next to the barcode in the lower right corner. The product was produced on Aug. 26, 2024.
The nuggets were only made for Wegmans Food Markets and distributed in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service said that it was notified of the issue after Wegmans received multiple consumer complaints of bone fragments in the product.
There have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service said that it is concerned that consumers may still have some of the nugget packages in their freezers. Consumers who still have packages are urged not to eat the product, and to throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased.
Wegmans said that all packages can be returned for a full refund.

The FDA is warning Americans of a popular chocolate treat that could cause a 'life-threatening allergic reaction.' Mellace Family Brands California, Inc. of Warren, Ohio is recalling semi – sweet chocolate nonpareils from grocery store giant Wegmans because they may contain undeclared milk. People who have a milk allergy may be at risk of a severe reaction if they eat the product. The chocolates were sold in Wegmans stores across Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington DC, in a plastic tub labeled Wegmans Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils 18.5oz (1LB 2.5OZ) 524g. The recall was initiated after the product was found to contain milk but was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the ingredient. An investigation found the issue occurred because of a temporary breakdown in the suppliers' manufacturing process. It comes after a similar product, JLM-branded dark chocolate nonpareils from Lipari Foods, was recalled for the same reason last month. Customers who bought the product are urged to discard it or return it to the place of purchase. No illnesses or adverse events have been reported in connection to the recall, according to the FDA. The UPC codes include: UPC 0 77890 49787 6, SCC 10077890497873. And the affected lot codes include: 55021; 55031; 55491; 55501; 56061 and 56071. The best buy dates range from December 28, 2025 to April 12, 2026. Milk can cause severe reactions in the 30 to 50million Americans with lactose intolerance and the 7million with dairy allergies. People who are lactose intolerant cannot properly digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and other dairy products. This occurs because their bodies don't produce enough of the enzyme lactase, which is needed to break down lactose. Undigested lactose then travels to the gut and gets fermented by bacteria, leading to digestive distress. Symptoms usually start within 30 minutes to two hours of consuming a dairy product and include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, bloating and gas. Additionally, roughly two percent of Americans - 6.6million - are allergic to milk. Symptoms of an allergy include hives, wheezing, coughing, congestion, face and throat swelling and in severe cases, anaphylaxis. This is a life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs very quickly after being exposed to an allergen. It triggers an extreme immune response, leading to dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath and vomiting. If not treated quickly with epinephrine (adrenaline), which can be administered via injection like an EpiPen or nasal spray, a person can die.

Urgent recall of 256,000 pounds of canned beef stew over fears they contain wood
Hundreds of thousands of pounds of canned beef stew have been recalled in the US because they may be contaminated with wooden fragments. Hormel Foods Corporation on Wednesday recalled 256,185 pounds of 20-ounce metal cans of its Dinty Moore beef stew that were distributed to stores nationwide. 'The problem was discovered after the establishment notified FSIS that they had received three consumer complaints reporting pieces of wood in the beef stew product,' stated an announcement from the Food Safety and Inspection Service, a government agency regulating public health. Affected cans were produced on February 4, 2025, and have the best by date of February 2028. They have the lot number T02045 printed on the can with possibly more numbers at the end, as well as the establishment number EST 199G. There have not been any reports of consumers falling ill from eating the stew. Customers who are worried about related sickness should contact their doctors. The FSIS, which is an arm of the United States Department of Agriculture, is telling customers to throw away the cans or return them. In late April, Upper Crust Bakery LP recalled more than 800 cases of its multigrain sourdough, ancient grains hoagie roll and whole grain multigrain breads after glass fragments were discovered on the top surface of some of the items. Officials have issued a recall for sausages, sliced meats and poultry products sold in New York state over fears of high sodium nitrite levels. The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that nearly 19,000 pounds of ready-to-eat meat products manufactured by Smith Packing, LLC are being called back. Some of the recalled items include As-Salaam's Beef Breakfast Sausage, Smith Packing's Beef Knockwurst, Honest John's Bratwurst 5/1 and Beefland USA's Regular Beef Sausage 5/1. The items were produced on various dates between February 19, 2025, and April 24, 2025. The problem was discovered after consumers complained products were off-taste and off-color. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Federal officials have asked anyone concerned about an illness to contact a healthcare provider. In a statement, the FSIS noted that it was concerned some products may be stored in refrigerators or freezers and urged customers to throw away or return them to the place of purchase.
