"Guests looking for a fun summer vacation can take advantage of our high-value travel options to explore some of our country's most notable historic destinations."
Spirit's low fares can take you to Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed. Snap a selfie with the Liberty Bell then eat your way through Reading Terminal Market.
Or head to Boston, where you can walk the Freedom Trail and dive into the history of the American Revolution. Then dig into some chowder and soak up the New England charm.

Fly to Charleston where you can walk cobblestone streets, visit antebellum mansions and soak up Southern charm in one of the nation's most photogenic cities.
And for a dose of culture, head to the cradle of jazz. New Orleans delivers history, culture, food and nightlife like nowhere else.

These are the 10 best cities for sober travel in the U.S.

We can all be thankful that sober travel is on the rise. While drinking a beautiful cocktail while light filters through your glass at sunset constitutes many a travel photo—and while a raucous bar or club scene may also be part of your itinerary—the fact is that alert and appreciative experiences (i.e., sober experiences) make for a stronger vacation. And for those in recovery, it's not just a preference; it's a requirement. A mocktail can be a band-aid, but a better alternative is to seek out different activities that keep you away from that shelf of glistening bottles. A new study from Sana Lake Recovery has just come out that analyzes and ranks American cities for their availability of sober-friendly activities. Some examples of these activities include hiking trails, fitness studios that welcome drop-ins, museums and even AA meetings. The first city on the list of best places to travel sober is St. Louis, Missouri. Along with 123 hiking trails and 120 fitness studios to choose from, the city boasts several greenspaces to bring a picnic and connect with nature. At Forest Park, visit a 75-foot waterfall, see animals at the zoo and enjoy the World's Fair Pavilion. St. Louis has 10 mocktail bars, such as the Sans Bar STL, whose charming motto is 'shaken not slurred.' (Sans is French for 'without,' which is fitting). Museums like the Saint Louis Art Museum and the Missouri History Museum also fill your vacation days with interesting experiences. Second on the best sober cities list is Oakland, California. Hiking here is amazing—in the Oakland hills you'll find aromatic quietude in the trails that wind through redwood groves. And for a quick urban walk, Lake Merritt's circumference is about 3 miles. There are more than 300 hiking trails, 120 fitness studios and 33 different museums to stimulate your travel. Oakland has five mocktail bars and two gorgeous, restored movie palaces (the Fox and the Paramount) where you can take tours or see live shows, depending on their schedule. Coming in third is Portland, Oregon, which has the most mocktail bars of any city on the list: 11. It also has 270 hiking trails to choose from, some of which are found in the 5,200-acre Forest Park—one of the largest urban forests in the country. Eighty miles of trails run beneath its sun-dappled canopy. Portland offers 122 fitness studios and 34 museums, including the Portland Art Museum and Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. We also love the Food Truck Park that offers fun browsing and even more fun eating. With not too much effort, you can locate experiences in most cities that support a booze-free vacation. Look for drop-in yoga or Zumba classes, bring your tennis racket, get a NARM membership to visit museums for free wherever you travel and take time to organize a picnic in nature. Here are the top 10 cities for sober travel: 1. St. Louis, Missouri 2. Oakland, California 3. Portland, Oregon 4. Minneapolis, Minnesota 5. Seattle, Washington 6. Colorado Springs, Colorado 7. Tucson, Arizona 8. Miami, Florida 9. Tampa, Florida 10. San Francisco, California

Travelers face potential storm-related delays over July Fourth week

Revelers traveling for July Fourth festivities may face delays due to stormy weather as the country braces for the busiest week of Independence Day air travel in 15 years. On Wednesday, trouble spots for travel include Florida, due to showers and thunderstorms, and Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, due to lingering delays. This comes after ground stops were issued up and down the Eastern Seaboard on Tuesday, creating chaos in airports in New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C., though skies have mostly cleared since then. Travel has been a headache on the East Coast for the past several days. Video showed people sitting on the floor at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday due to storms. A flood watch is also in place Wednesday for the Norfolk, Virginia, area after heavy rain moved through in the last 24 hours. The good news is most of the nation will enjoy clear skies — prime for firework viewing — come July Fourth. The only potential trouble spots on Independence Day are the northern Plains with heavy thunderstorms and Florida with heavy rain. The Federal Aviation Administration said this will be a particularly busy holiday with 300,000 flights throughout the week. On Wednesday, there are 49,784 scheduled flights; on Thursday, 51,284; and on Friday, July 4, 35,066. The number of daily flights is then expected to increase, after July Fourth, with 42,866 scheduled flights on Saturday, 47,966 on Sunday and 50,128 on Monday. The Transportation Security Administration said it expects more than 18.5 million people to travel by air over the Fourth of July holiday and pass through the nation's airport security checkpoints. This year's projection spans July 1 through July 7 with the highest passenger volume of 2.9 million expected on July 6. 'TSA continues to work closely with our industry partners and ensure our airport security checkpoints are fully staffed and prepared to handle the heavy rush of traffic,' TSA acting Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill said. United Airlines said it expects to fly more than 6 million passengers from June 27 to July 7 — about 500,000 more than last year. Of those days, June 27 and July 3 are forecast to be the busiest travel days, with United projecting about 580,000 passengers each day. The American Automobile Association said a record 72.2 million Americans are expected to travel domestically this week from June 28 to July 6 — an increase in 1.7 million travelers compared with last year and 7 million more than in 2019. Of those travelers, AAA projects 61.6 million people will travel by car, 5.84 million by air and 4.78 million by bus, train or cruise. AAA said top holiday destinations — drawing crowds with beaches, fireworks or both — include the Florida cities of Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Orlando; Seattle; New York; Anchorage, Alaska; and Hawaii.
